What I find baffling is that, according to The Sun's report, Thomas Markle Jnr only made a statement to the police in the Philippines last night. What, so only when The Sun reporter turned up on his doorstep he thought to actually go to the police?

Something is majorly off about the brother's behaviour and The Sun's hand in all this.

Dweetfidilove · 23/10/2026 13:08

On a forum where folks are encouraged to go no contact for saying boo to a goose; Meghan is awful for not speaking to her paedophilic family, awful for not reporting them to the police when she knew, awful for marrying and ruining poor wee Harry, awful, awful, awful...

Meanwhile, that poor woman is surrounded by paedophiles on both sides and must be hypervigilant all the damn time.

Janiie · 23/10/2026 13:08

'Same goes for all those naming Thomas a paedophile when we don't actually know that yet'

Yes I don't think anyone has thought Markle Junior has previously been a reliable witness or source so surely what he has allegedly found whilst Markle senior isn't even living there should be thoroughly investigated before Markle Senior is found guilty by mumsnetters?

Disclaimer I'm not an apologist but this is all based on the dodgy son's allegations and a 'letter' from 2018 that must've already have been investigated and no action taken?

I would take anything any Markle said with a pinch of salt until proof is provided.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/10/2026 13:09

No matter what we think of her, in the negative or positive, it would be very hard to imagine that she would make false statements about the police telling her about the allegations. There would be an easy to prove trail

That's another thing I wouldn't want to assume, @AlonsoMosley - not after all the other lies Meghan's told, many equally easy to disprove

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 23/10/2026 13:09

You can feel sorry for the victims and for Meghan.

You can feel angry about those who produce and consume such abusive material.

You can feel anger about why it wasn't pursued further. How the authorities often turn a blind eye to such things.

My point stands that even if she had have brought it into the public realm she would have been called a liar.

Totally agree with this. I have much respect and admiration for Meghan protecting her own children from her father despite all the hatred she got for cutting off her father. And that vile man was all over the British press with his sad face about not being able to see his daughter or go to her wedding 😡

I agree, she absolutely did the right thing distancing her and her family from him even if it was at the point of it being allegations and not proof. Unlike some familes who have no problem discredting victims publicly and covering it up

You don’t know that at all.

abracadabra1980 · 23/10/2026 13:10

It's all pointless gossip until proven otherwise.

LifeIsTooShort247 · 23/10/2026 13:12

I put myself in the positon and think if it was my Dad what would I have done. Well I wouldn't be running around telling people if all I knew was it allegations made until it was proven and then I would say something. I most probably would've distance myself especially if I had children because of the serious nature of it all.

Seagullsandsausagerolls · 23/10/2026 13:13

Benjithedog · 23/10/2026 13:10

Maybe not in this case but certainly in others.

KnickerBockerGloriously · 23/10/2026 13:13

why does she have to say anything at all?

They are not Royal in the sense of carrying out duties. They want privacy.
yeah...

Funny how it coincides with William on TV tonight talking about his charity.

LipglossAndLies · 23/10/2026 12:20

Its a good statement from her and I dont think it invites more questions its pretty clear to me thst what she knew and when was in 2028 by the MET, it was distrubing allegations, not proof so obviously she doesn't know anymore than whst was shared with her st the time. She was told it wiuld be investigated and she cut herself off from her father so why would she know anymore other than the results of any investigation.

Its nice she referenced the victims in all this, stark contrast to whst we have seen in the other situation in the RF where noone has talked about the victims, well except one where they tried to discredit them.

Just no. Meghan knew (if all this is true) that her father was suspected of being a paedophile. She also knew her father spent a lot of time in Mexico and SEA- countries notorious for being places paedophiles go to target vulnerable, poor children.

And she did nothing? If she knew in 2018 then she knew that her father could be well be sexually abusing children in other countries and she did nothing? It's fucking vile (if true).

AutumnLover1999 · 23/10/2026 13:14

It always makes me a bit sick in my mouth when I hear about single men moving to the Philippines or Thailand. There's only one reason they go to these places, so that should raise a bunting of red flags 😡🤢

Janiie · 23/10/2026 13:14

'My point stands that even if she had have brought it into the public realm she would have been called a liar'

It is normal to expect proof before declaring anyone a paedophile.

The 2018 'letter' didn't result in any charges so clearly no evidence was found.

These current allegations have been provided by a drug addled batshit son, I think we should await an investigation and proof before applauding anyone going nc when they have form for doing it with plenty of other people.

I've read your posts - Meghan is always the victim.

Thing is a lot of what she blamed for is very unfair and often Harry fault but she human and she makes mistakes - a lot.

I assume you do not like me mentioning the wedding as her behavior was so odd - not just round her father which these allegations make explain to a huge extent - but with so much else.

She chose to have a huge wedding and take tax payer money for secuity then publically moaned about being forced to have a big wedding. All very odd.

TBH I think she was in a very diffcult position once shown the alligations round her father - there's been no prosecutions and she must love him - so knowing what do do must have been incredibly hard for her on many levels and I think her decsion to stay away to protect her kids was very brave - but also to write when he was ill understandable.

I'm sure more will come out - it always seems to.

She chose to have a huge wedding and take tax payer money for secuity then publically moaned about being forced to have a big wedding. All very odd.

These kind of statements really make me scratch my head. Do you seriously think that a woman from California can waltz into the royal family and make them do something they do not want to do - like put on a "huge
wedding and get tax payer security to boot?

Think! Did she really choose a huge wedding, or did the wedding follow the same protocol as the other royal and royal adjacent weddings? Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Andrew all had that style of wedding with tax payer security. So, Prince Harry's wedding was very much in line for a Prince of the Realm.

Is she?

Attention seeking certainly, in spite of wanting privacy.

Ickkkkkk · 23/10/2026 13:16

I remember all those posters saying she was so awful for not visiting when he was in hospital. They were so vile about her.

Some people were saying she will have her reasons and children don’t go no contact with parents without good reason. They were shouted down by the usual crowd and some got deleted due to their OTT attack of Meghan and defence of her father. I hope those people think how they act in future.

They were saying her father had been a fabulous father, was a decent man, how he’d given her everything and they even defended him going to the papers etc. Now it seems it’s all so much worse. Those poor children.

My friend found this out about her father and she never spoke to him again. He told everyone it was due to something she did and tried to turn people against her. Many believed him. When it became public knowledge, she had to deal with it all over again. My friend is still having therapy 8 years on. She has never been the same.

I hope Meghan is ok. She’ll have been through complex feelings when she was first made aware and will likely be going through it all again now it’s out there for the world to know.

KnickerBockerGloriously · 23/10/2026 13:17

If this was anyone not in the public eye they would keep their mouths shut and wait for it either to blow over or be proved and him imprisoned, or punished accordingly.

Noodledog · 23/10/2026 13:17

hotmumshit · 23/10/2026 12:32

She's handled herself so well. She has done the right thing and now the truth has come out, proven her right, ofc she is due an apology.

She has absolutely not done the right thing. If the allegations are true, she took no action to protect innocent children from being abused by a paedophile- for 8 years! It's despicable behaviour.

LookOutLookOutTomCruiseIsAbout · 23/10/2026 13:18

LipglossAndLies · 23/10/2026 10:13

No I don't know how much she knew I am pointing out her reasons for going NC and all the awful horrible comments made about her for doing so and how she should reconcile..well turns out she was right not to. How wrong posters were for making horrible comments about her choosing to go NC. Whatever the reason its proven to be the right thing in the end.

Eh - so Meghan ditches her father for selling out her privacy when she and Harry have done the same to others - gets criticised - but that hypocrisy is ok now that her father is accused of a crime several years later?

If you’re saying that the reason doesn’t matter if the behaviour can later be justified for a completely different reason, then presumably you think that Catherine’s supposed coldness towards Meghan early on was “proven to be the right thing in the end” because Meghan turned out to be a liar?

What should she have done? She was informed of allegations (not proof) and that the matter was being investigated. What more should she have done? Told everyone before there was proof? And if it turned out she was wrong then you would be here accusing her of lying again.

More likely it's to show why she cut contact with her father- trying to justify it.

But - none of that is on her surely?

No matter what we think of her, in the negative or positive, it would be very hard to imagine that she would make false statements about the police telling her about the allegations. There would be an easy to prove trail.

The questions are now of the police - not her.

The Police have tied hands on this I think. If she says the Police told her about a letter, and showed her it, I don't think the police can say yes or no.

That is my understanding of it anyway. Though I suppose they could do a statement " We received info and we investigated.... " ?

Keyword allegations. If someone made allegations about your son what would you have done?
