That’s amazing congratulations! Same scan date still waiting xx

HeartyGuide · 22/10/2026 09:42

So daughter rang yesterday about renewal, due to expire 29.10.26. Had the form since July apparently decision made on 20.10.26 but could not tell her anything, has to wait for letter.
She has checked gov one account she created for dd and it is showing she is getting the same payment as she usually gets on a Tuesday.
So it looks like it has been renewed?

Option 4 right at the end, I just asked if I text notifications on to receive a text when decision was made, which is wasn't, but she then said a decision hasn't already been made and that she'd tell me

Just ring and ask if text notifications are on and then whilst you're there ask if any update! Click option 4 near the end rather than 2

I didn't get a text as notifications weren't turned on, that's what I called to ask. She then said decision was made already and told me

Hopefully! I called two weeks ago today and they told me it was in the queue awaiting a decision maker.. surely it should’ve been looked at by now😩🤞🏻

Good tip. I pressed 2 at the end yesterday and they were pleasant but useless 🙈
They will have an influx of us calling requesting text confirmations 😂

Congratulations! I think you can just report it in your journal for universal credit but you might want to wait for the award letter so you can let them know the date to backdate the payment to and so you can show them the award.

If you're spending 35 hours or more on your child's care needs you can also apply for the carer element (this isn't the same as carer's allowance).

Really pleased for you, it's such a relief isn't it x

DearHam · 12/10/2026 12:12

I sent our forms on 21st June, they sent a message on 1st July to say they'd received the application.

Still not heard anything 🤔

I called again today. First person super grumpy and after giving names and DOB she made a few grunts and I suddenly went on hold - the next person picked up the phone and told me I was speaking to the winter fuel allowance team!

Anyway, after being sent back again to a new person, I was told they were "awaiting a reference number to be assigned before the decision can be finalised", but it sounds like a decision had been made. Anyone encountered this before / know what this might mean? I'm curious if they would create a reference number if the decision was no...

Thank you, it is such a relief. I have done this but can only back date until 1st sept anyway as that's when our universal credit account was opened. We've been back dated to 1st July they told me over the phone
