It’s awful because I’m trying to think positively but we’ve had about 7 years of not being believed.

I’m not entirely sure about scan date. My submission date was 10th August. But my white letter had the 17th August on so somewhere between those two dates. I think?

did you get a text to say they’ve received the forms? That’s usually your scan date. You must be very close now, seen lots of decisions close to the 5/6 August . Sometimes it seems they move fast then all of a sudden it skips days xx

Oh really? Thank you so much, so I printed the forms off and sent them back on the 7th August. Then got confirmation text on the 10th August. So does that mean the 10th is my scan date? Thank you ☺️

Yes so really going by your dates hopefully you’ll hear by the end of next week if not the week after. I’d give them a call Thursday or Friday and just add for a note to be put on your account for a text with decision , then ask for a quick update while on the phone. I’ve done it a few times and I did get a text saying she’s been awarded so for me it was worth it xx

Oooo, I didn’t know you could ask for that! That’s really helpful, thank you! ❤️
My son has severe dyspraxia, sensory processing difficulties, ARFID, anxiety and suspected autism and ADHD. He also has an EHCP, so we submitted quite a substantial amount of supporting evidence with his claim.
They confirmed receipt on 10th August, so we're coming up to 10 weeks tomorrow. I'm hoping we might finally hear something over the next week or two! 🤞
I'll definitely give them a call towards the end of next week and ask about the text notification. Thank you so much for sharing your experience 😊

do you mind if I ask why your doubting if you have that much evidence? I don’t know if I’m being really naive here which is why I’m asking but we got told to apply even without a diagnosis because it was about the child’s needs and we just needed to articulate it. I don’t know if I should be a lot more concerned now.

I would say, be careful not to confuse diagnosis with evidence. My children don't have formal diagnoses yet (for the most part) but they do have evidence and one was awarded in September. The other is due hopefully by the end of next week going by the current dates! Your child probably has evidence too, you just need to change how you're thinking about it.

I read that a guide for decision makers when I was looking for help to complete the forms and it suggested that where there is a need there is normally a paper trail showing a history, usually where the parents have tried to access help, treatment and support.

If you've ever taken your child to the GP for anything related to their condition or the care input they need from you, ask your practice for copies of the notes from those appointments. Ask for copies of referrals. Ask the nursery staff or the school SENCO for a supporting statement of how your child's needs present differently from other children their age. Ask for copies of any support plans that are in place to help them manage in the setting. I don't know if every school does this but my son's gave me a copy of a record of all of the times we'd spoken, which had brief notes about the meeting or phone call.

You could also ask your child's swimming instructor or their hair dresser or anyone else you can think of who has seen them and witnessed the difficulties they have. I remember my son's barber telling me once that we may have to come back on a different day because my son was going at 200mph and couldn't sit still to have his hair cut safely. And when a member of staff at his after school club witnessed his masking fall away when he saw me at pick up time and his tics started flowing freely. Have a think. It's not the diagnosis itself that matters, it's how their care needs impact their (and your) day to day life compared to a child of the same age who doesn't have those care needs.

Hopefullyitcan · 19/10/2026 10:38

Good luck all today. Scan date 24/7. Fingers crossed today is the day or at least this week.

RainbowBear29 · 19/10/2026 11:41

Does anyone know if you automatically get a text update, if you gave a mobile number on the application please? (they used it to confirm application was received) or do you specifically still have to ask that they send you an update by text once a decision is made?. Scan date 31July - coming up to 12 weeks!

BlessedMamaOf2 · 19/10/2026 12:59

Hi everyone. Been watching this thread. My child’s claim runs out mid Jan for MRC. We sent her forms back a couple weeks ago and got a text 9 Oct confirming received. Any idea how long renewals are taking at the moment please? Thanks in advance :)

Thanks so much for this it’s really helpful and make me think about what I did do and what I could add to of it gets turned down because I do have this evidence, maybe I just didn’t do a great job at providing it the first time round. It’s nerve wracking when you have never done it before. Hopefully I can add to the file now.

How long are people usually waiting, between the decision being made and the backpay being paid in?
I was told on the phone that my daughter was awarded on Thursday, but no payment as yet.

Coc scan date 20th July still not heard anything has anyone got any idea how long coc are taking x

RainbowBear29 · 20/10/2026 07:32

NC. Scan date 31 July. Backpayment received today. I wasn't sure we would get awarded (no gp evidence, no diagnosis and no referrals) so really shocked - but we did include a detailed personal statement of the support we provide and why. OT report and school support plan/emails. I hope others waiting, hear soon.

PlummyMummy2026 · 20/10/2026 09:05

What scan date (NC) are we up to? I haven’t noticed much movement since 4th August dates. (Desperately waiting for 10/8)
