Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Good to have due process followed before announcing the political.affiliation of all the protesters many of whom were there protesting against the Southport killings.

Setting fire to libraries, shops and hotels, attacking members of the emergency services = protesting against a killer? Pull the other one, it's got bells on.

As for judging - these people were filmed, and the footage was online for everyone to see. If you don't want to be seen being a racist scumbag, maybe don't behave like one.

And in fact polls show that less people plan to vote for them now than did 6 months ago

Curbing immigration is Reform's main attraction. Solve that and Reform won't get nearly as many votes.

Immigration is being curbed. Small boat arrivals are down, overall immigration is down.

What Reform wants is zero immigration, no asylum support and deportation of masses of people. They want the revocation of indefinite leave to remain for people who have had it for years. Those are demands that normal, moderate centre right voters do not think are reasonable. Reform have reached their peak audience and are starting to leak support.

Keir Starmer just made things worse by labelling them "far right". Why far right? Plenty of people across the political spectrum can commit violent acts and also be scared of attacks on children. How did the perpetrators vote? Had he found out before he immediately put a political slant on the riots? He dealt with it appallingly and its one of the reasons hes no longer PM. Be interesting to see if AB deals with the inevitable riots in the future the same way or he learnt the lesson.

You accused me of whataboutery and trying to hijack someone elseโ€™s post. I posted about all Labour and their serious misdemeanourโ€™s. I think it is very hypocritical to be calling out another political parties ie finger pointing, when other parties are just as bad, in fact more prevalent in the Labour Party.

You have accused me of derailing the thread? It appears that we can only contribute to this thread if we agree with slatting Reform. So instead of having reasonable debate we have a one sided view only.

We are free to post where we want. If you donโ€™t like any of my posts please report them.

You really are getting yourself tied up in knots now.

The Conservatives want to leave the ECHR.

No asylum for illegal entrants

Deport undocumented migrants and foreign criminals

Extend ILR to 10 years

Numerical caps

Fiscal contribution to economy so no benefits or social housing.

They all sound good policies to me.

Fluffyholeysocks · 18/10/2026 14:16

It's a sorry state of affairs to celebrate a party losing a few by elections rather than celebrating the party who won. Just shows what a dire state of choices we have. Has the winning party inspired with hope ? Or are we that defeated that we cheer Reform losing?

So are the Conservatives going to bring in safe legal routes then? Not to mention that they can whine about 'illegal entrants' all they want, but international law is very clear on that point.

What are they going to replace the provisions of the ECHR with, and are they committed to maintaining protection against discrimination of all kinds? Or are you happy for employers to refuse to employ people based on sex, skin colour or sexual orientation?

When they say 'fiscal contribution', what does that look like? I mean, i've been here 29 years. Always worked, never claimed benefits except for child benefit for the last 2 years before my youngest turned 18 (I wasn't eligible before due to being married to a US national). So at what point do my contributions begin to count and am I eliegible for support if I lose my job? And what about my DC, who are foreign nationals but were born here?

This is the problem I have - there are no simple solutions, and nobody on either side of the divide seems to want to acknowledge that.

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/10/2026 14:05

So let me get this straight @Worrall20, if this was a thread about a current media expose into MV in Labour or the Greens, you'd be on it saying "but whatabout Reform"?

You mentioned the report into Antisemitism in the Labour Party. There were numerous threads here about it at the time. Did you go onto them with your whataboutery?

Most certainly would, let me spell it out to you I abhor any sort of male violence, physical, sexual, child exploitation, as most decent people would. Also regardless of any party politics affiliation?

Well wasnโ€™t on MN in 2020 but would definitely have called it out. Whataboutery or hypocrisy? Think about it!

Surely theyโ€™ll still get the votes of the many people who according to you are saying racist, misogynist things?

What I want is zero immigration from the majority of Muslim countries, and the mass deportation of any from the UK with extremist tendencies. They are simply not compatible with our way of life.

Judging by nearly 40% of the electorate intending to vote Reform, Restore, and probably over 50% when you include the Tories, perhaps half the electorate is now racist?

Or perhaps the far-left have simply moved far away from the normal people and are now living in a parallel make belief universe, their brains eaten up by the woke mind virus.

I'm completely on board with deporting extremists. Let's start with Rupert Lowe, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and all their mates.

Where are you getting those statistics from? According to the last poll that I saw, even if you include the whole Conservative vote share (many of whom absolutely wouldnโ€™t support the kind of immigration rules you seem to be advocating for), you still donโ€™t get to 50 percent of the electorate: https://www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/blogs/ec_vipoll_20261016.html

Your figures are way off there. Reform and Restore combined muster just 26% of intended votes in the latest polls.

I don't know if you can rely on that when people actually vote. Look at Trump.

Well i don't know how many people will look at the ballot paper and specifically vote for the party that is the most sexist (Labour..no female leader, don't know what a woman is) or the most racist (Greens). But some may I suppose. They will get the votes of people who want to be 100% sure immigration is dealt with. The other parties have to date failed.

Possibly, but we have FPTP, and so far it's pretty clear that people opposed to the likes of Reform and Restore will lend their vote to whatever party is most likely to keep those two out of power. Which is pretty great, because it shows that the majority of people don't actually support these parties.
