Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I havent told other people not to post. Ive just defended myself when I have been criticised for posting about various things of interest to me.

And I merely commented on you repeating the same stuff over and over again which wasn't in line with what was being discussed on this thread. As others have said, you should start your own thread about it if it bothers you so much and not try to derail this one.

Regularly airing Reform's deficiencies can't do any harm, though. But you have always been clear on your dislike of them, which I respect.

I agree with this sentiment. It's good to have a Tory supporter distancing themselves from Reform.

Because the OP actually attacked โ€œthe right-wing voteโ€. (And the apparently left-leaning OP never returned, unless she has a burner account, which is generally regarded as ultra-plopping.)

The discussion Iโ€™ve had has been about the ECHR and whether Putin is left- or right-wing. I did point out that Labour lost control of a council very recently because its councillor was charged with fraud, but that was a comment aimed at the dishonest shambles that is Labour, not the cow pat that is Reform.

Anyway, this is more than your impertinent question deserves.

By derailing, whataboutery and minimisation of Reform's actions you are part of Reform's campaign, whether you are aware of it or not.

Unfortunately the one whoโ€™s been hammering away on this thread for days doesnโ€™t appear to share your view. Itโ€™s encouraging to see a different perspective.

Stop being a mean girl Blossom! Its beneath you surely?

Thank you wise one for telling me what I am doing.

This is a thread slagging off Reform and does not welcome any attempt at trying to explain why Reform have so much support. If you pinpoint that then you can fight it (assuming you support another party). But it does mean you have to take a breath and stop the slagging off for a minute. It seems obvious to me. Clearly not obvious to many of you.

Im just answering people's messages. Not my fault if they are repetitive.

Same

TopPocketFind · 19/10/2026 17:08

No. I dont support Reform and Im not defending Reform. But I find this thread rather sanctimonious. We have no Reform voters on here presumably because they would find it very uncomfortable facing this wave of disapproval to explain why they support them. And no. Not all Reform voters are racists. Its the Brexit vote all over again. Disapprove and "other" anyone who you (not you personally) label thick racists. And then leave won.

Whats the point? Whats the aim?

Pineneedlesincarpet · 19/10/2026 17:17

I now see Camilla Tominey and Tim Stanley agree with my view, on the Daily T. I like them and I think they talk a lot more sense than some.

TopPocketFind · 19/10/2026 17:19

Maybe if you watched some of it, you wouldn't be so keen to tell people to stop being nasty about Reform.

No not everyone voting Reform is racist but racists vote Reform, same as with Brexit.

I can't imagine anyone who has read even one thread about Reform will have missed 'the reasons people support them' posts. For they are many, repetitive and follow a script so predictable I could recite it by heart.
If I never see the words fighting age men and not being listened to again it'll be too soon.

That a lot of people away from polite society talk like Reform.

I personally feel that is a simplistic take. Probably not useful for a Conservative strategist for example. I expect they might think a little deeper.

Badenochโ€™s not a strategist then? Because sheโ€™s not having a bar of them.

I am sure a lot of people do, you wouldn't want them representing you though or have them anywhere near your daughter if you have one.

And Farage is telling us, Reform is not like that.

No. Obviously. But presumably she needs to understand the attraction? She clearly does. Reform have changed the national conversation re immigration and the other parties have learned.

The Times suggest the lowering of Reforms poll numbers is due to 15% of their voters going to Restore rather than turning off the type of party they want due to the bad lamguage etc which is not a very cheery thought either.

TopPocketFind · 19/10/2026 17:32

I don't think the Conservatives would welcome the ones moving to Restore.

Nor do I. I hope they are going to Restore, theyโ€™re both essentially the same.

Yes but the fact is its true. Im not making any point about the acceptable reaction to it. Or whether all people care about language in their representatives. We wouldnt like it of course. But can MN speak for everyone?

We will see in the next polls if Reform support has reduced due to the ITV programme. If it hasnt that means millions dont care about that sort of language. I sometimes feel I live in a bubble as no one I know speaks like the Reform people. But its obvious lots do and I hear it (to go back to my points at the start of the thread, risking a telling off for repetition by the Thread Monitors)

I havent suggested any strategy. Ive just suggested avoiding automatic condemnation of all reform voters. Like has happened in this thread.

People who think like the ones in the documentary are racist and sexist. And you think we should appease them.
