Some good news to start the week!
The mainstream media might be quiet about it, but the numbers donโ€™t lie: Reform UK just lost SIX by-elections in a single week.

Their momentum is officially hitting a wall. On Thursday, they failed to win across the UK and even lost the incumbent seats they were supposed to defend:

  • Amble Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Gained by Labour)
  • Hirst Ward (Northumberland) โ€” LOST (Reclaimed by Labour)
  • Claremont Ward (Blackpool) โ€” LOST (Held by Labour)
  • Long Whatton & Diseworth Ward (NW Leicestershire) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives)
  • Wick & East Caithness Ward (Highland) โ€” LOST (Stormed by Lib Dems)
  • Forth & Endrick Ward (Stirling) โ€” LOST (Held by Conservatives) about:blank 1, 2]

The right-wing vote is splitting down the middle, squeezing them out in low-turnout battles. Proof that real, local communities are seeing through the rhetoric.

Keep it up lads! ๐Ÿ™Œ

You are not allowed to call them that on MN. I bet you will be deleted.

Well, if someone reports it that just goes to show that the shoe fits. I'm tired of having to tiptoe around the hurt feelings of the far right.

If that false claim about Harriet Harman with an embedded link to a dodgy anti Labour site is allowed to stand, then the Nazi shouts should not be an issue.

Why are you discussing just Reform are you planning to do all parties?

Good point. A thread just devoted to slagging off just one party is pretty boring.

Tell that to the Labour isnโ€™t Working posters (of whom I believe you are one).

All those cases had plenty of media coverage and sunlight Jones and Haigh were prosecuted. Rayner was eventually cleared by HMRC, wsn't she? Mandelson is ongoing, I believe.

There's still the issue of Raynor's son's trust purchasing her share of her overvalued house that hasn't been explained. Far greater breach of trust than any tax fiddling.

Louise Haigh is a convicted criminal.

No you would be wrong on that. As I said, I find threads only slagging off one side very boring.

So why not include the Tories, Lib Dems, Greens, SNP, Plaid Cymru, DUP, Restore?

They all have bad apples after all.

My impression of the "far right" (so thats the National Front or BNP or ADF) is that "hurt feelings" don't really bother them.

Go for it. Include them. Im interested. Particularly in the Greens bad behaviour as that is very topical.

A convicted criminal is in a senior position in the Cabinet of the government which makes the law for the rest of us.

I don't want to drag up other parties to excuse Reform's behaviour.

You do but you only focus on Labour with your defences. So much for not just slagging off one party.

Correct. Just so happens that the spotlight is pointed more on Reform at the moment.

Did Louise Haigh spend time in jail?

BIWI · 18/10/2026 10:53

Why don't you do one then @Pineneedlesincarpet? I'm sure there are plenty of skeletons in the Tory party's cupboard.

I agree, it's boring just focusing on party's problems, because I'm sure they all have them.

That said this is a thread about Reform, their performance in recent elections and - more interestingly - what the ITV programme is going to reveal about them. So it's not hard to see that all the stuff about Labour is definitely trying to obfuscate things a bit.

Because they found a whole load of bad apples in just one year.

Well you were the one who suggested bringing up the wrong doings of members in other parties. I was just agreeing with you. And now youve changed your mind.

I havent actually brought up bad things about other parties until another PP did which I agree with at is points out the hypocrisy on this thread. During your one sided highly moralistic slagging off of Reform I just tried to encourage us to consider why they were so popular. And to point out that many people speak the same was as Reform members and won't care about any disapproval.

If a barrel full of rotten apples occur, and I used to help out in my friend's parents orchard, then the barrel goes as well.

Reform discredits themselves by having a load of racist and sexist members and defending that by saying other parties have some too.

Restore is openly racist and do not make exuses for it.

Restore is not racist. But it does wish to deport the tens of thousands of dangerous men and their families, many of whom have entered the UK illegally, many sent by the Iranian regime, who follow an extremist form of religion that is simply not compatible with the tolerant Western way of life.

Judging by what is currently happening in France, where school protests have been seized upon as an opportunity to create trouble (pretty much urban street warfare if you look at the live footage) by left-wing fringe groups, and groups of immigrant or 2nd generation men from this religion, and the pro-Palestine crowd, it makes perfect sense to do this if we are not to endure the same sort of mass-violence here in the UK over the next few years.

So far as I am aware, criticism of a religion is not racist, since race and religion are two very different things.

It would be nice to get back to a trusting society again here in the UK, where children don't get groomed and raped by gangs of such men. And where people can attend an Xmas market with their families without having fear of some extremist from this religion trying to drive a car or truck into them at high speed. I assume you would agree?

Pineneedlesincarpet · 18/10/2026 11:00

BIossomtoes · 18/10/2026 10:55

Scraping again.

Not at all. I would really rather like high standards of honesty and integrity in our politicians. Something that has been sorely lacking on all sides. I have never committed a crime or embezzled anyone or committed fraud or breach of trust and I don't see why we allow and promote people who do to the highest office.

I think a conviction should rule you out for being an MP. Like it does for a lot of other professions.

Well yes you have you have accused me of whataboutery? So yes you have made accusations and you have pointed the finger. Unfortunately this is a SMForum and you are allowed to discuss what ever you want. My valid point is that all political parties should be held to the same standard. Unless you think only the Labour Party is exempt?

Either you didn't read the post properly or you are deliberately trying to twist the facts.

I said I hadn't pointed my finger at any other political party, which is what you had accused me of.

This thread is about Reform losing by elections but you are insisting on trying to derail it to suit your own agenda. Start your own thread if you want to discuss other matters.

But the PP is making a good point. Why have a thread solely devoted to slagging off one party and stick your head in the sand about all the others. Surely you want balance? Theres no use just focusing on one party and not allowing comment about all the other. Isn't the hope that all politicians be held to the same high standard.
