Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

Thanks @Happymama04 - there are so many variables it’s hard to know what to expect.

I like pretty much any fiction apart from fantasy/sci fi. I’ve just read a lot of Clare Chambers’ books which I really enjoyed, but not sure what to read next. Tried the Midnight Train by Matt Haig but I’m not getting into it. Favourite recent reads were The Poisonwood Bible and Heart the Lover.

I like reading psychological thrillers so if you like that my best two lately are Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell and My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney. My two fave authors! Currently reading Wrong Place Wrong Time which I’m really enjoying too!

Thanks @Witchfoot it’s lovely and relaxing although finding I have too much time to think! On my second book though, so that’s good 😊

How are you getting on, have you done any more tests?

Hope everyone else is doing okay?

No more testing for me, AF came yesterday (with a vengeance) so I'm back on CD2. I'm glad my cycle seems to have returned to normal, but my periods now seem extra painful to compensate!

It's all so relentless 😂

@Happymama04 Ohh I love psychological thrillers and read Wrong Place, Wrong Time recently - loved it! Also enjoy CL Taylor and BA Paris.

Thanks for the book recommendations @Springcloud26 and @Happymama04 , will add those to my list!

Sorry to hear about AF arriving @Witchfoot - at least cycles returning to normal sounds like a step in the right direction.

I’ve bought some easy@home ovulation tests to see if I can work out roughly where I am in my cycle. Haven’t used them before but I did one this evening and it isn’t as
dark as the control line, but still a very obvious line so assume LH is rising, or maybe I’ve just missed peak. Will see what it looks like tomorrow. We’re going away in a couple of weeks so ideally don’t want AF to arrive then!

Posypear · 10/08/2026 21:11

Can I join? I had an early miscarriage last cycle. Im 4 DPO. This is cycle 3 for us. I've just been told I have BV again which I'm wondering if this was hbd reason for the miscarriage? Hoping to get it sorted ASAP but can't be seen until next week . I'm symptom free. I'm trying for my second and my first is 2- I convinced first time with previous DC so this is all new to me.

Lost2222 · 11/08/2026 13:38

Hi everyone do you mind if I join? I had a mc at 6 weeks in June, confirmed lh peak Saturday 8th July using cb digi purple kit with static smiley (cd 17 using the first day of proper mc bleeding as cd1) I usually have a 28 day cycle, ttc this month and then on Sunday which should have been 7dpo I had a gush of blood, and some slight spotting on and off since but not an actual flow and only when wiping. I’m so stressed out and desperate to be pregnant again, do we think this could be implantation related or my period trying to come early? I haven’t taken a test yet as I’m so scared of the result! Silly I know. Can anyone offer any insight please? Thanks :)

fluffycauliflowers · 11/08/2026 14:22

Hey, I’d like to join 🥰 I had a miscarriage end of June at about 6 weeks. First MC, had had two healthy children prior and experienced bleeding in both pregnancies so the MC really knocked me as it was a total shock. Had a D&C on 30th June and then first period from 22nd July.
I’m now 2 or 3 DPO (I think 3) but stopped doing the deed a few days before because we wanted to give the Shettles Method a go.
Would love to connect with others in a similar boat. I am so desperate to be pregnant again and am a total control freak who CAN’T wait! I actually did a pregnancy test yesterday… obviously it was negative. I’m fully mental!!

Think I just replied to you on your own thread. My hunch would be implantation. Do a test! 🤞🏻🤍🫶🏻

Lost2222 · 11/08/2026 14:43

Just done a test and it was negative, meant to be 10 dpo so thinking it’s just a messed up negative cycle, was absolutely sure I’d timed it all right this time and convinced I would just get pregnant again.. stupid I know!

Witchfoot · 11/08/2026 16:48

Welcome @Posypear, @Lost2222 and @fluffycauliflowers and sorry you're in the same rubbishy boat ❤️

I have no wisdom to offer when it comes to individual signs and symptoms but I can 100% empathise with feeling desperate to be pregnant again and getting the urge to test unhingedly early!

TTC after a MC is a whole new world of headfuckery!

Springcloud26 · 11/08/2026 17:59

@Pottingsheddays how did you get on with the strips today? Good luck!

Welcome @Posypear @fluffycauliflowers @Lost2222, I’m sorry you are going through this as well, it’s really tough.

@Posypear I hope your appointment goes well next week, please keep us updated 😊

@Lost2222 At 7 DPO it would be the right timing for implantation bleeding, 10 DPO could still be early to show on a test? Was it FMU and a sensitive one? Fingers crossed - it is so hard not to get hopes up!

@fluffycauliflowers I am also a control freak and just want to be pregnant again! What is the Shettles method?

My thoughts have been spiralling the last couple of days…

If I ovulated when I think I did (purely based on CM as I’m still testing positive for hcg so can’t use lh strips) I noticed very light cramping at 6 DPO with a tiny bit of discharge and feeling like I may come on. Then yesterday 8 DPO the light cramping was back and increased discharge (wet, clear) and again feeling like period could arrive.

Today 9 DPO, no cramping and still have increased discharge. This isn’t normal for me, the only time I had it this much was last pregnant cycle.

I’m really trying hard not to get my hopes up but this is feeling very familiar. I even thought I smelt a weird odour earlier that I had around 11 DPO last time.

I tested again this morning, still a faint line but lighter than last week, so my plan is to test again at the weekend if AF doesn’t arrive, if it is lighter/negative than today I’ll know not successful, but if it is darker than today, it may be new hcg?

@Witchfoot thank you, it sure is a nightmare!

@Springcloud26 thanks for uour response, it was a 10miu or whatever it is so it was an early one, but I did it this afternoon so defiantly not concentrated. I’m just worried because I ovulated late this cycle I’m assuming due to the mc, so I’m not entirely sure that my predicted day of period is Saturday, but that’s what my clear blue app is telling me. I definitely felt ovulation type things around the peak of my lh tests, and dtd plenty. I only seem to have any spotting when I (sorry tmi) try and have a bowel movement. I’ve also had a massively bad headache all day like really booming, and I recall I had this before my bpf last time

it all sounds really positive for you @Springcloud26 I’m praying for you that it happens for you again this month, and for all of us! X

Pottingsheddays · 11/08/2026 20:33

Welcome to all the new joiners - sorry that you’re also in a similar position. Even though everyone’s circumstances are different I think we all share the feeling of just wanting to be pregnant again, so fingers crossed this is a lucky thread.

@Springcloud26 - LH tests are much fainter today so not sure if that means I’ve ovulated already or if my body’s still sorting itself out. So I’m just as confused as before but at least POAS is something to do!

Sorry that you’re also not sure where things are at - keeping my fingers crossed for you that all the signs mean something positive. The TWW is hard enough when you know what dates you’re working with, but all of this uncertainty definitely doesn’t help the spiralling thoughts x

Witchfoot · 11/08/2026 21:35

Ah @Springcloud26, keeping everything crossed for you! Totally understand about not wanting to get your hopes up though ❤️

Springcloud26 · 11/08/2026 21:46

Thank you @Lost2222, your symptoms sound exciting too, fingers crossed today was just too early! When will you test again?

@Pottingsheddays Thank you, yep the uncertainty is really hard, I hope you get some answers soon too. I know what you mean about POAS, especially with LH strips, I was using them 3 times a day around my peak, really enjoyed it!

Thanks @Witchfoot, it will be a long few days!

Thanks for the welcome to all. I was still testing positive after the MC 2 days into my next period. Takes such a long time doesn’t it?
Shettles method is to try and conceive a girl - we have two boys already - basically to with timing of sex around ovulation. On or after for a boy, before for a girl.
I doubt there is much to back it up scientifically but I thought we would try as it’s our first month explicitly “trying” and it would be so lovely to have a girl. I’m happy with a healthy baby of either gender though and tbh if it doesn’t work this cycle then I feel like next time I would just go for it regardless of shettles. As stopping having sex a few days before ovulating may increase odds of a girl, but it will decrease legal odds of pregnancy, so 🤷‍♀️

I have got some real cramping today - central and low down. Wondering if it would be implantation but I’m only 5DPO…
It is so hard not to overthink every little symptom isn’t it!

Welcome to all everyone thats joined recently, sorry you're all in same position. I took a week or so off after AF arrived just to try focus on something not TTC. It's hard not to find it mentally exhausting doing LH tests, then HCG, then disappointed when AF arrives then its time to start all over again!

CD 9 today, I'll probably start LH testing tomorrow. I've had the odd 28 day cycle recently with peaks around CD12/13 but also 32 day cycles with peaks around CD17/18 so feels like I test for ages to try make sure I catch it!

Totally hear you @FlyingHighFlyingLow on it all being mentally exhausting!

I've been contemplating the 'just relax and stop trying and it'll happen' advice lately but I'm so much more conscious of my body and my cycle than I was before TTC that I don't think I could actually switch that part of my brain off!

Exactly - plus with the difference in cycle length I know my brain couldn't leave it. So if I didnt test LH I'd get to day 24 and think I'm 10dpo if its a 28 day one I'll take a test when I literally might be 6dpo and I end up more stressed from not knowing!

fluffycauliflowers · Yesterday 14:08

I just want to know exactly how to resist the urge not to test. I hate having nothing to “do”! I have done two HCG tests already and am only 5DPO 🤦🏼‍♀️

Lost2222 · Yesterday 14:24

I’m going to try not to test yet, (again) cause I really feel like I’m about to start af, which I did feel the same last month so I’m praying and crossing my fingers as my spotting has gone back to clear/ white. 5dpo! I’d be a woman on the edge if I started that soon @fluffycauliflowers

im glad I’ve found this thread girls, it’s so hard not to sound crazy when you speak to people who aren’t ttc!

Happymama04 · Yesterday 14:28

I reallyyyy want to be more chilled out this time. I’ve had two babies and before my first had multiple early loses so I’ve always been crazily obsessive with testing. With my ectopic last month I was the same, obsessive over lines for 2 weeks. It completely stressed me out and it didn’t tell me anything was wrong so I really hope this time I can wait until at least 12dpo and then if I do get a positive to just stop testing! Much easier said than done but I really hope I can do it 🤞

It’s been about 3 and a half weeks since main bleeding of MC and I still have a faint line…

When I started getting cramping at what I think is 6 DPO I thought it might be too early for implantation so asked Chat GPT to walk me through biologically what is happening at every DPO 😊. It did say implantation is a process and may take a couple of days to ‘embed’ fully.

I’ve definitely been overthinking! And I know what you mean about having nothing to do - I make sure I add a few notes to the Flo app every day to track digestion, mood, CM, even if there isn’t much to say!
