Anyone TTC after a recent early loss and wanting support? (Aug 26)

Hi, I thought I’d start a separate thread for anyone who is TTC after a recent early loss, so we can support each other through what can be a really difficult time. 💕

I’m 39 and TTC for my first. I conceived after around four cycles, but sadly had a missed miscarriage mid-July at around 9 weeks, (development had stopped at 6).

I stopped bleeding last Sunday and have started noticing some cervical mucus returning over the past few days, so I’m hoping my body is beginning to get back into its normal rhythm.

I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests, so can’t use LH strips to track ovulation yet, so for now, my plan is to get back to some exercise, eating well and have sex every 2-3 days. I’m feeling positive and hopeful but also trying to take my mind off the waiting!

If anyone else is going through something similar and would like to share the journey and support each other x

So sorry to hear about your loss, MMC is such an awful thing to go through. I’d love to join for some support 💕I know I’ll feel more anxious if/when I get pregnant again.

I’m in a similar position, had a MMC at 10 weeks (development stopped at 8 weeks) in mid July. My spotting has just stopped but I’m still testing positive on pregnancy tests. Feeling really impatient for my cycles to get back to normal, but trying to keep busy with fun plans and exercise for now. I felt so rough when I was pregnant I’m trying to enjoy a break from morning sickness. Still feeling a bit up and down emotionally though, a lot of our antenatal group from when we had our first are pregnant again so it’s hard not to compare.

I’m 36 and TTC #2 - our daughter is 2 and I had an early miscarriage before getting pregnant with her. I told myself I’d be more relaxed about the journey second time round, but that definitely isn’t the case!

fingers crossed our cycles are back to normal soon! X

Springcloud26 · 31/07/2026 14:37

Welcome @Pottingsheddays, I am sorry you have gone through this as well.

I’m also feeling impatient for cycle to return, it’s so frustrating waiting for hcg to go back down as can’t track ovulation, and the first cycle I used Lh strips, I conceived so really want to get back to using them. The only thing I have noticed is CM increasing, but I think it is too early for ovulation.

It must be so difficult with others having their second in your group, I hope you have lots of support.

You’re right it’s so hard to stay relaxed, I want to start swimming again but I started it the cycle I conceived, so I think it will make me feel sad knowing I would have been pregnant without realising last time I went. But also, I want to follow the same pattern of things I did last time!

How long was it after your miscarriage that you had your daughter, if you don’t mind me asking? x

Ahh I typed a reply and then lost it somehow - still very new to Mumsnet!

I’m keen to start tracking again as well, it feels so strange not knowing what point of the cycle you’re in. Definitely feel a bit in limbo at the moment. CM increasing sounds like a good sign, hopefully things are back to normal soon.

I had medical management earlier in July and the hospital said to call them if I was still testing positive three weeks later so might give them a call on Monday as it’s been three weeks and my tests are still very clearly positive. Even if they just test my hcg to see what level it’s dropped to that would be good to know.

The miscarriage was cycle one and then I got pregnant with my daughter on cycle four. So not long at all, but the months where nothing happened were tough as I’d seen so much about how you’re more fertile after a miscarriage (no idea if that’s true but it still got in my head!). That one was at 5/6 weeks though and my cycles just carried on as normal so it was all a bit easier to track x

Springcloud26 · 31/07/2026 19:02

@Pottingsheddays that’s a good idea to give them a call on Monday to check hcg levels, hopefully you get some answers!

Yep I’ve also heard you can be more fertile after a miscarriage, I’m trying not to be too hopeful for this cycle as I don’t want to be disappointed x

Ahh spoke too soon the spotting is back 😐feels like it could take a while for my cycles to resettle at this rate.

I’m the same on trying not to get my hopes up - it’s tricky to find a balance between protecting your feelings and keeping some hope/positivity going. And also trying not to compare to last time and assume the timings will be the same.

Are you waiting for your period to come back before starting to try again (hope you don’t mind me asking!)? X

Springcloud26 · 01/08/2026 14:14

Oh I’m sorry to hear the spotting has returned @Pottingsheddays, hopefully it will settle soon for you.

We’re trying straight away, the midwife did say to wait until after a period to ensure the pregnancy hormones have settled back to normal, but I thought if my body wasn’t ready, it wouldn’t happen anyway, and so worth a try? I’m also feeling like my libido is returning as well as CM!

I think also trying is helping me emotionally as I’m doing something and not just waiting. x

I'm TTC #2, have a 2.5 yo.

Conceived second cycle but lost at 5 weeks on the dot at beginning of July.

TTC again straight away but haven't conceived this cycle so waiting for AF to start to get back to trying again!

Kathi154 · 02/08/2026 07:44

ohhh ladies so sorry for your losses. I’m joining after a MMC at 10 weeks in late April (not sure that counts as a recent loss now, but it still feels recent!). My cycles are just about back to normal, I’m 36 and trying for our first, we started trying again straight away because it feels like we really don’t have time to wait.

Springcloud26 · 02/08/2026 08:56

Hi @FlyingHighFlyingLow I’m sorry for your loss. How are you feeling? Have you been able to tell where you might be in your cycle with symptoms?

OP posts:
Springcloud26 · 02/08/2026 08:59

I’m sorry for your loss @Kathi154 and glad your cycles are getting back to normal. I’m trying for my first too. How have you been feeling?

Pottingsheddays · 02/08/2026 09:18

Welcome @FlyingHighFlyingLow and @Kathi154 - so sorry to hear about your losses. Fingers crossed we all get our next BFP soon 💕

@Kathi154 do you mind me asking how long it took you to test negative after your MMC? It’s been just over three weeks since my medical management and tests are still very clearly positive which I’m finding hard - I’ve lost all pregnancy symptoms now so was sure they’d be negative or very faint.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 02/08/2026 10:16

I used ovulation strips which suggested I had an LH peak on 19th. Started getting major PMS symptoms 7 days later - bloating, nausea, insomnia, cramping. Then about 3 days ago all my PMS symptoms disappeared entirely - still not bleeding, but also now 13/14 dpo and testing negative on a 6 days early FRER.

Springcloud26 · 02/08/2026 10:40

Hope you get some clarity soon @FlyingHighFlyingLow

I hope I can use lh strips again this cycle, will do another pregnancy test later this week to see if it’s fainter than last week or finally negative, as I’m still getting dye stealers on the lh strips.

OP posts:
Springcloud26 · 04/08/2026 17:57

How is everyone doing?

I’m trying not to symptom spot to guess where I might be in my cycle, but it’s so hard not to! My CM has disappeared now so think I may have ovulated, I’ll assume I’m in the TWW, unless it returns.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 04/08/2026 18:52

Thanks, AF started today so at least I'm back at CD1.

DH got some exseed tests to try as he is on some medication he wasn't on last time that can affect sperm quality and motility. He's only on a low dose and cycle 4 is still very normal but something we want to check so we can try look at alternatives with GP if needed asap.

I hope you also get some clarity soon @Springcloud26 . Messes with your hormones so much symptom spotting is so hard as your body just isn't behaving as usual.

Pottingsheddays · 04/08/2026 20:34

I finally have some CM and pregnancy tests are really faint, so think things are hopefully getting back to normal. Not sure when to expect AF though - it’s been so long since I was looking forward to it arriving! So still feeling a bit in limbo.

Hope you get the results back quickly @FlyingHighFlyingLow - at least if all looks fine you can put it out of your mind.

Springcloud26 · 04/08/2026 21:49

Thanks @FlyingHighFlyingLow, fingers crossed for your results.

@Pottingsheddays I’m pleased your test is becoming faint and things are returning to normal! I’m going to try and hold off until the weekend to check again, it will be 3 weeks then.

It‘s a strange time not knowing what is happening, I never thought I’d be so excited to want to pee in a pot again!

I MC on the 14th June. I’m sorry for anyone that has gone through that experience. I knew something was wrong because I didn’t get morning sickness like I had with my other pregnancies.
TTC before period, I’ve been using ovulation strips and Oura. I started tracking from CD 9, currently on CD21 with very low LH (no 2nd line at all).

Witchfoot · 04/08/2026 23:02

Hey @Springcloud26, I remember you from another thread! I left following my MC at 6 weeks, I'm so sorry you had a loss as well ❤️

I've since had a normal period and now I'm back in the dreaded TWW... I've also heard that you're supposed to be more fertile the few cycles following a MC but I wonder if that's just a thing people say to try and be positive!

Not feeling too hopeful this time around (I'm 8-9dpo and ominously crampy) but we'll see.

Wishing everybody luck ☺️

Springcloud26 · 05/08/2026 07:22

Hi @Berlin86 I’m sorry you have gone through it too.

Do you usually have longer cycles? The one cycle I tracked using LH strips I got my peak on the morning of CD 22, and it only started rising the day before. Fingers crossed for you this cycle

OP posts:
Springcloud26 · 05/08/2026 07:31

Hello @Witchfoot it’s really nice to hear from you, yes I thought I recognised your name! I hope you are doing okay.

Yep I’ve heard that you can be more fertile after too, I’m still waiting for a negative test and then can track LH again but in the meantime we’re covering every other day, just in case.

Will you test early or wait? Good luck for this cycle!

I’m so glad to have found this. All this can feel incredibly lonely so thank you for starting this thread. I usually ovulate on CD 17 so I’ve been feeling a bit deflated with seeing these very low ovulation strips so late but I’m tracking before my first period. I’m 40 next month and want to start trying as soon as possible. I started taking coq10 and have read this can caused delayed ovulation, has anyone else found this?
I wish everyone all the best of luck. X

I did one this morning (BFN) so I doubt I'll manage to resist over the next few days either! Thanks for the luck ☺️

@Berlin86 Sorry to hear you've been feeling low. The waiting game is so hard, especially post-MC when you don't really know what timescales might be like. Rooting for you! ❤️

Springcloud26 · 05/08/2026 09:21

@Berlin86 I’m glad you found this thread too! I know what you mean about it being lonely, I haven’t really told anyone as wanted to be able to share good news (and then maybe explain the journey). So having other people to talk to that understand is really supportive.

I also take coq10, I haven’t heard that about making cycles longer but coincidentally, I had started taking it 2 weeks before I conceived and that would have been one of my longer cycles with peak at CD22 . So maybe there is something in it? I stopped when I got pregnant but back on it now as I am also 39 and wanted to make sure I was doing something that could help egg quality.

I hope you start to see LH rising for you soon!

@Witchfoot Fingers crossed for you over the next few days, 9 DPO could still be early if implantation is later!
