Elizabeth/Lisa?

Lisa has hair scraped back in a ponytail with two strands pulled out and held with spit. She hangs out with Donna and Leanne and has a boyfriend called Lee.

What about Annalisa, Lisanna or Lisette

You know the raison d*etre of the board? People throw out names and others say ‘this is my view on it?’ In my case, what it says about me is I was born circa 1978, which is when Lisa was popular and honestly, it wasn’t a particularly positive vibe kind of name. Obviously if you like it, use it, but it is sort of adidas tracksuit, massive gold hoops and wrigleys chewing gum.

I’m a Lisa and I’m a senior civil servant with a middle class life and two kids in private school. The other Lisa’s I went to school with - one is a history teacher and the other a school receptionist. So rude.

I’m sure you would hate my name as well! But it is honestly what I think when I hear Lisa. Bottom set maths 1993, sat next to Vikki and Leanne.

It’s hard not to have associations with some names and Lisa is like the female equivalent of Lee, Dean, Gaz et al.

How about Annaliese? was my potential dd name but I had all boys instead 🤦🏻‍♀️

Look, we’ll all have different associations with different names. I’ve lost count of the number of people who have a dog called the same name as my DD! It’s rude to say Lisa is bottom set maths 1993 but not rude to say another name is a plumber, a dog, whatever?

We all like what we like. A lot of MN beloved names don’t do it for me. I just really don’t like Lisa, sorry BUT if the OP does and is set on it then great. But then why ask if you only want positive sort of associations? My association is dated and not in a good way.

It’s you that’s devaluing a plumber over a university lecturer. I imagine a happy man earning an honest living actually in the 1980s actually.

Let’s agree Lisa is a marvellous name, likely to positively surge in popularity and beloved of the aspirational middle class. Anyone who dislikes it is an irredeemable snob; it is beautiful. There we go!

I really don't think Lisa's time has come for revival. It's such a dated name imo, and not in a good way. Lisa Simpson was such a well known character on TV too. I think there's a lot going against it.

If you must include it somehow, how about Annalisa?

I would use Elizabeth on the BC and maybe go with Liza (as in Minelli), Elisa, Elise, Eliska (a Czech diminutive), or even Lissa.

How about “Elisa” pronounced “ell-isa”

Or Eliza - pronounced “El-eeza”

One of the Lisa's.i know is stunning she has short hair and from those of her friends I know there are no Leanne or Donna and she is not married to Lee.

The other Lisa from my school days also does t for this generalisation. Beautiful woman

If you ypu want to add a other .iddle name I would consider using one with a vogël to start so to not end up w odd spellings as initials.

I quite like the name Lisa, but can see that lots of people will just see it as a bit naff and dated. But trying to be objective about it, it has a nice simplicity to it and will definitely have a revival at some point. I'm not sure what currently popular name will be the Lisa of the future. Might be Mia. Might be Isla. Might be Ava.

And fwiw the only young Lisa I know (late 20s) is a very middle class medical student.

I like Isabella/Elizabeth names and their variants but Lisa is cooler and more unusual. It’s a pretty name

I'm an Elizabeth and my aunty would sometimes call me Lisa..I never understood why but she was a lovely aunty so I just accepted it. My parents didn't like it when friends shortened it to Liz. Didn't understand that either..They often called me Boof because they thought I (mis)- pronounced it as Elizaboof. I didn't want to be called Boof but looking back it was sweet. They meant it lovingly.
