To absolutely hate this government, and what they are doing to our country? PART 2

A continuation of Thread 1.

Strong words but is is how I feel at this point in time. All of them make me feel physically sick. Why? Well many reasons.. Here are just two.

Eg. They won't release sex crime statistics of immigrants / asylum seekers. Why? Other European countries have done, and it is not pretty. Our gvt gives out a leaflet asking them not to rape the locals. Why? Our gvt has said they won't house asylum seekers next to schools and nurseries, why?

Eg. UK now spends more on benefits than it earns in income tax. Labour have increased this - not reduced it. Astonishing. As they say - "Who can we tax in order to pay benefits to others?" That's Labour's Welfare Secretary. He's describing the priorities of Labour MPs.

In the last financial year, the UK government brought in £331 billion in income tax — and spent even more, £333 billion, on welfare, according to the Office for Budget Responsibility's latest economic and fiscal outlook (obr.uk/efo/economic-and-fiscal-outlook-march-2026/#chapter-6).

How is my drawing attention to an abandoned toddler in waters, relevant to the photo of a deceased child, without a trigger warning? Simple question - don't all rush to answer it at once.

shecanbe · 25/09/2026 09:02

Why was it ok for you bring attention to 'babies in the water' yesterday, yet today you are apparently up in arms about a pp doing the same?

The footage from yesterday was far more distressing. I didn’t notice any trigger warning on that anywhere it was posted on MN. It appeared on several threads.

Was the toddler dead and did I post a photo? Again, what is the relevance. Come on, you've got time to run it through the old Chat GPT.

Did I release any footage?

But I don’t think I am saying this is the only viable system. I don’t think anyone is - certainly not the government, who keep saying they want the numbers to go down. I personally believe we can and should be working towards a humane system with strong deterrences against people smugglers and efficient processing of claims.

And, no matter what our asylum system looks like, I don’t think there should be any normalisation or excuses made for aggressive mobs, inciting violence.

Deterrence against traffickers is hard and may not work long term. Supply chains get re established. So after a lull there can be a week with 1000 entering as we just had.

The demand for what is being sold is incredibly high. With any highly lucrative business someone will fill it.

Did you demand a trigger warning when you saw it?

Don’t worry about it. It’s just more of the same.

Thezookeepersneice · 25/09/2026 09:08

People are saying the statistics showing the numbers are down by 45% are 'fake news'

I do think this is a really important point - we are so far down the rabbit hole on this issue, there is so much misinformation and hyperbole. Everything has the potential to be twisted to suit one agenda or another. It’s frightening.

And the normalisation and excusing of violence really does boggle my mind - even if you take Danny Tommo’s endangering of lives by slashing at that boat completely out of it, he had a blade on him. A man with pre-existing knife crime convictions, brought a knife to a mass gathering, and people are somehow excusing it. It’s mind blowing to me.

I think the the government and the official opposition - any serious political party, in fact - should be doing everything they can to take the heat out of this issue, and I think we as individuals have a responsibility to do the same.

I didn't see it on here - I read a news article. Still not hearing how the two are equating. But as I'm on here morning, noon and night, I've got time to wait.

Brudffaa · 25/09/2026 09:08

Shouldn't they be arrested for child endangerment if they take their child's across the channels?

When they could have just stayed in France

You would think so, but then I remember that awful image of the other baby being dangled by its one arm.

Maybe it is time for you to take a break from MN in that case?

No, I'm fine thanks. You could always do the same though.

shecanbe · 25/09/2026 09:11

@LuckyHazelFox - no you weaponised yesterdays news about the child. We can all read. "Men matter more eh?" - insinuating that this is what I (and presumably other posters) think. As if that matters more. I'm not getting into it again with you. I'm surprised you're still here.

hedgeknight · 25/09/2026 09:13

Doesn't it show the desperation of people when they bring their child on such a dangerous journey?

It's not so easy to attack them as fighting age men when there are women and children involved, is it.

Why surprised someone’s still here? Anyone can post.

What do you mean you're surprised I'm still here? If you don't want to get into things again, why are you trying to suggest I've said things I haven't? I know it's a lot of questions but you seem to have taken quite an interest in me.

To escape the horrors of France?

I feel it is important actually to counteract the hate and misinformation. Although it is possibly pointless in the end due to the sheer volume of both which is being spat out on here and other SM now. It seems almost like a profession for some.

Absolutely it is hard. But just because a policy is hard doesn’t mean a government should give up on it. You can’t just start advocating for letting people drown because it’s easier. The last thing a responsible government should do when an issue is complex is give in to lazy populism.

Apparently there aren’t any women or children on those crossings though. I don’t understand. 😵‍💫

Are we still taking about a trigger warning not being put on the publication of a deceased child?
