Who paid for the hotel in the city the airport was in? Did EasyJet organise and pay for that, but then not the transport there?
I once got a voucher for food in the airport, but it was getting close to midnight, and only one place was still open, and nothing - even the children's menu - was covered by the measly amount of the voucher (something like £5 and the cheapest meal was about £10 for children's portions!). This was before the statutory rules, though, and a non-EU airline, though it was flying to the UK.
Ryanair were also awful last time there was an air traffic control problem. We were delayed a few days later, which they claimed was still part of the situation. They manage their flight times so that we were only just under the 4-hours delay or whatever it is where they have to compensate you, so they then dumped us at Stansted, which was again almost all closed. No trains by then as it was after midnight and they were on strike the next day, all the buses were booked up for ages and they weren't for a few hours, as there were loads of people waiting. So had to pay about £80 out of pocket for a taxi that I shared with someone else in the queue. They were no help, no vouchers, food, expenses, etc. We even had to walk from the tarmac to the airport and figure out which door to go in (within UK so no passport rules). Not impressed.
And Easy Jet weren't great way back when the ash cloud happened. They'd have put me up in a hotel for as many days as needed, which was much more expensive, but since I decided to get a train back instead (again within UK), they wouldn't refund the train ticket, as there is some rule that says they didn't have to.
So good luck, hope they don't weasel out of it, but I wouldn't hold my breath!
