AIBU to oppose housing 1,000 undocumented young men near Piddington?

1000 replies

PiddingtonFan · 16/09/2026 09:38

We dont need anymore undocumented young males.

1000 proposed to be housed near Piddington. Young males from a different culture.

AIBU to agree with them. Enough undocumented males. Too many males overwhelming a small population. 😪

I don't think I've done that. I've suggested that the people of Piddington raise things like a curfew system with the Home Office. I've said that I would want assurances as a resident.

I think Lugol telling Blossom what the fuck her post has to do with it is more designed to drown out posters.

Or AlphaQueue telling me 'Oh it's you again'

I wrote that because I was talking about being harassed by a migrant man, you know, the very subject of this thread.

We are discussing the safety of the women and girls on Piddington so my experience is relevant.

Blossom's experience of meeting a nasty white man is, although extremely unfortunate and she has my sympathies, completely irrelevant.

Blossom however wrote that to shut me down.

Unfortunately as women most of us already have that experience, these men are from a culture that actively encourages SA and if you deny that then you're deluded.

Deluded and/or have an agenda and I'm not directing that at anybody specifically.

Yes I know. He walked out of the entrance of the hotel across the car park to the side of my car and harassed me. There was a group of them together.

There are only migrants staying at that hotel, they have been causing problems for locals and have become known for heckling girls and women and approaching them.

He walked over as I was unloading my trolley.

I think it's fucking disgusting that you don't believe me. I was hassled in daylight and a man a couple of cars away came to help me.

I haven't used that Asda since because it shook me up and as I said in a previous post I don't rattle easily but this shook me up and made me feel very unsafe.

Shame on you.

Edited

I didn't say that I don't believe you were harassed by a man.

I asked why you are so sure he was an asylum seeker. Others were just as certain and they were wrong.

The thread isn't about being 'harassed by migrant men' though. It's fine for you to share your experience, equally it's fine for Blossom to share hers.

No culture actively encourages sexual abuse, that's an awful thing to say.

And how does that predict who will be rapists?

Look at Australia’s referral system. If you can select vulnerable women in refugee camps or a proposer to take personal responsibility for an individual it’d be a form of entry that has higher safeguarding.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) identifies the most vulnerable people in global refugee camps—such as those in immediate physical danger or women at risk—and formally refers them to Australia for resettlement.1, 2]

The Proposer System (Subclass 202): Under the Global Special Humanitarian visa, an applicant must be proposed by an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or community organisation. The proposer acts as a character referee and takes responsibility for helping the person settle.

Can you say why you would be against this?

Tell that to the victim in Cologne.

Correction: victims (women)

Just as irrelevant as the landlady in Wethersfield saying she's more scared of far right men coming to town?

At least the far right men will be coming to protest and then leaving, unlike the new neighbours who over time will not benefit the area. Desperate people do desperate things.
Plus most don’t drink alcohol so she won’t have to worry about job.

If you live there, then you’re free to object. If you don’t, not your problem. 👍

I saw a comment by the landlady of the pub in the Guardian where she said ‘’Weatherfield is definitely the wrong place to accommodate asylum seekers. But asylum seekers are human beings it is the immigration policy which is appalling’

Personally I don’t think she sounds over keen on the idea as much as she says otherwise. Not sure where she thinks they should go!

Having been to both New Delhi and Rome several times, I can categorically say I feel no safer in one than the other. I wouldn't walk around alone at 3am in either. Nor would I in London.

Have you been to Delhi?

Yes, agreed neither are safe now, nor is Paris. Things have changed a lot. “Wondering why!” I have no idea what has changed in Europe to make it less safe.

shecanbe · 17/09/2026 16:06

The point is, if an asylum seeker attacks a woman, it's national headlines. As it should be obviously - don't get me wrong. However, if a British (particularly white British) man is the perpetrator, it probably won't even make local news, let alone national. No marches. Farage and TR silent. They ONLY pipe up about the incidents that serve their agenda.

A couple of years ago a 16 year-old asylum seeker was stabbed to death outside a college near to me. It didn't even make local news. Nothing.

LuckyHazelFox · 17/09/2026 16:09

It's almost as though per capita doesn't exist. It's discussed (and ignored) enough.

If you're trying to insinuate migrants in Europe make it less safe to walk around at 3am, you are really are deluded. When was it ever safe to walk around in the middle of the night for women fgs?

I did. I hated it. VAWG in Delhi is atrocious. Women are groped and assaulted frequently. Especially lone white females. The threat rate is Rome is so much lower and it's such a nicer place to be

They've been setting fire to buildings, smashing property, and a huge proportion have convictions for domestic violence. They aren't desperate, they are just far-right. racist thugs looking for trouble. They are much more dangerous than any asylum seekers even if they don't stick around.

19lottie82 · 17/09/2026 17:00

I’m pretty liberal with immigration and asylum seekers but I wouldn’t be happy with bored / unchecked men outnumbering me in my local area by this number, no matter where they are from or what race they are.

Im all for genuine asylum seekers being welcomed here but why is processing and decision making taking years? Get it done asap and send the unsuccessful ones back to where they came from, while the successful immigrants can work and start a life.

Budapest is so safe. Like literally nothing goes wrong. Going there I feel a breath of fresh air. It's so safe and girls can walk around fine.

There will always be crime at night and VAWG at night. But think about the rates. Many women express how safe they find Poland to be.

Many MNers actually do traverse on their own out in many European cities. Look at Gare du Nord in Paris, is it very safe? Is it a place you'd recommend a DD go at night to try the "cultural cuisine"?

I often travelled around European cities on my own. I'd never do it now. If that makes me come across as racist, so be it. I would rather I stayed safe.

I was seriously sexually assaulted by a stranger when i was walking home from work. He was white and yes, you are correct, it made a paragraph in the local media. Even after he absconded while on bail and broke all the other bail condtions and even after it came to trial and he got the maximum sentence and the judge gave a damming sentencing summary about the way women are at risk from men, not a word in the media. I am guessing it would have been different had he been a different ethnicity/asylum seeker. He is obviously an irredemable person too as since he came out of jail for the attack on me he has gone on to commit further offences, some of them violent but not sexual and all offences against people.

This is wrong. Many of us realise that domestic men commuting acts if violence is wrong.

Is it also not wrong for foreign asylum seekers to rape?

The domestic thugs have a view saying "asylum seekers in the UK have hurt and attacked British women". This is factual statement I agree with. These thugs also hit women, that's not okay. These thugs smash things up that's not okay. But you can agree with the first premise and not agree with the others.

You get local domestic scum as well. I'm sorry you went through that. No need to bring in men from nations where VAWG is extremely higher.

I don't want to generalise but men who commit stranger sexual violence tend to be from the working class / low socioeconomic backgrounds.

Well you don't have to like Delhi, but you must surely realise that Indian people are a very significant and highly integrated part of U.K society and this has been the case since the 1960s! Indian people in the U.K are hardly renowned for aggression or for being sexual predators are they? If anything, if you really had to stereotype Indian people in the U.K, you would no doubt say they are hardworking, value education, family-orientated, often highly professional, respectful, peaceful and generally a credit to the nation! And none of them need to come here on boats anyway, so I don't know why we're even talking about India.

SummerAsh · 17/09/2026 18:00

Where should they be held while pending deportation?

No issues with them being near Piddington, but they should be kept in the camp whilst their applications are being processed. Yes, I realise that means they’re effectively prisoners, and they’d be barbed wire around the perimeter, but if they’re genuine refugees they should understand and be grateful we’re giving them safety and a roof over their heads whilst we process their claims.

By the way, I don’t vote Reform or Restore…
