I’ve seen people running marathons who have very clearly shat themselves. That’s what happens with too many energy gels!

While equally gross, other competitors having to use the equipment that had human shit all over it in this scenario feels worse.

Absolutely disgusting, she definitely should have been made to stop. Not the same as a marathon, that’s outdoors and there is no shared equipment. Here people were expected to touch things she’d smeared shit all over and do burpees on the ground where she’d dropped poo on. It’s a biohazard and should never have been allowed

I appreciate that it's involuntary probably due to intense exercise but in my opinion it should've been classed as a medical emergency and treated as such. She should have been removed and event halted until the area had been cleaned and disnfected.

Not saying its what happened here but this 'technique' could be used maliciously to disrupt opponents and effect their focus and performance.

And to think of all the criticism that Paula Radcliffe received from stopping off at the side of the road just for a wee!

She should have been made to disinfect the course and equipment. That would teach her a lesson. Why should others have to clean up her disgusting mess?

Yeah, I think in this instance I think she should have gone home. There are limits, and arguably a win isn’t a win if it involves inadvertently sabotaging the course for the other competitors.

Agree. I can't think of a single other situation where it would be tolerated to poop yourself and spread it around a shared facility. Bonkers.

I'm not into Hyrox myself, but if I was and happened to be the poor sod behind her I'd end up having to stop and leave myself. I'd be so grossed out.

She may have had a stomach bug, which is now spreading to everyone else. She may have just been working at such an intense level her body reacted as such - but if so, people need to step in and stop the athlete. If you're crapping yourself because you're so exhausted then you're working out far too hard and it's not healthy!

Seems she is a top “elite” level in Hyrox, which brings money and sponsorship, which I think is why they didn’t pull her out.

I started running a couple of years ago and I didn’t realise that for some people it really… gets things moving. I’ve never shat myself but I’m always running on the treadmill closest to the loo. I think it’s fine they let her finish but they should put a rule in place for health and safety.

as I said upthread, HYROX has rules in place to disqualify contestants who spit or shoot snot out their noses to the floor - but shit yourself is ok?
