I think Socialism is a step towards Communism and the progressives clearly crave Socialism as end-stage Capitalism is dealing out young people. The argument is usually that Socialism doesn’t end with Communism but in the current political Venn diagram there is an obvious overlap, particularly because in America many of the (paid) protesters were being funded by a Communist based in China.

I think the heat needs to be dialled down on this conversation more generally.

The problem is without nuance and an understanding of both sides , we find that people end up using divisive speech as a way of pitting people against each other.

Yes there have been difficulties with implementation of border control within the UK. Though, I do tend to try to think of all people as generally being goodhearted. Yes, there will always be outliers from every group , whether it is people who do not like migrants, or migrants who commit offences.

The problem is , when we make generalisations about whole groups without understanding any of the nuances to how they got into the position they did.

I worked with serious offenders for a long time ; they had committed truly horrific crimes. At no point did I ever see any of those people as fundamentally evil or bad. I could only have compassion for them as they clearly made their own lives and the lives of others increasingly miserable. They deluded themselves into thinking what they were doing were the right thing.

It's the same thing in every situation where there is conflict. Threads pop up on this site where people viciously defend their position. It's a rarity that I see people who can balance two perspectives simultaneously. And I think that's where the issues arise here.

Not all migrants are potential offenders that are going to take over the country. Nor are masked protesters horrible people. People are people. Everyone thinks they are virtuous and righteous... and thats dangerous.

Fine, but migrants arriving in boats are breaking the law, you can"t police certain groups of British nationals for covering their faces while ignoring other groups that are doing this while allowing boats full of illegal migrants to flood into the country and pretend that the law must be upheld without eventually causing civil disturbance, the government needs to get a grip on this properly, they won"t though so we are definitely heading for a Reform government, I am almost sure of that now.
