They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

You are right, we do have the right to protest. It’s a core British value. But so is the rule of law and for a protest to be legal, you need to give notice to the police that it is happening, stick to pre-planned routes and not obstruct critical infrastructure. These men yesterday did not of that.

Absolutely. So many on this thread in support of breaking the law, but only when it suits their world view.

Not my style of protest
BUT
I get it, the masks and the uniformity of appearance because to speak out about the ongoing flow of male economic migrants from misogynistic cultures brings cries of racism and repercussions because of this -

But how do people in the UK who are concerned /
terrified of the loss of border control to illegal entrants get heard ?

i think most don’t want to vote Reform / Restore
most support legitimate asylum seekers particularly from the most vulnerable - children and women and feel utter despair about the invasion of men on the Kent coast

Exactly, I want the Labour leadership to grow a pair and do something. I don't want Restore/Reform either, but it may well be a case of holding my nose and voting for Reform so they sort out some issues that Labour won't for fear of upsetting the lefties.

To take this good faith - why then did they not give the police advance notice so that the police could adequately allocate resources to support their protest? That’s what peaceful protestors do.

At the very best, these men were ignorant about our laws - which are there to protect the British public.

Smokeywater · Yesterday 14:59

With facial recognition cameras in common use who wouldn’t cover their faces -I certainly would.
there was bla bla from the police that protesting is allowed -you just have to arrange it with the police -hahahaha
Of course the police won’t allow blocking of traffic - they just allow nice little groups with a few flags (NOT the St George cross) - which the Gov ensures get NO coverage because we all LOVE having thousands of male strangers with no id coming into Britain.

They can’t ban balaclavas because banning them would mean also banning the Burkha and of course they would never do that

The majority? Love bold statements without evidence.

Tbf even Labour ran on ‘smash the gangs’ and people bought into that.

Dollymylove · Yesterday 15:01

The authorities dont want to stop these potentially dangerous men being allowed into our country so someone has to start the fightback. If the government doesn't get its shit together and stop encouraging these freeloaders we will be looking at serious unrest

Sounds like you're a supporter of this outlandish behavior? Shame on you.

O good grief, this made me gasp it’s so melodramatic/borderline offensive!
(see what naturally occurred there?)

You're definitely somewhat melodramatic 😂.

Facial recognition isn't an issue unless you're planning to carry out criminal activity....

The sight of them made my sad heart soar.

At last, England roars.

About time, but sadly too late.

Every demonstration that has happened in the last few years everyone has had their faces covered.

Thankfully our country is still a democratic society where within the law, freedom of speech is acceptable.

There are plenty of countries around the world where freedom of speech is not allowed, women rights are non existent, and people are dictated too how they choose to live their lives.

whatever yours or my opinion of these demos, we do have the freedom to protest - be very careful siding with people who want to erode peoples rights

Bollocks! I havent seen pro palestine demonstrators with balaclavas on. When the police are busy arresting 70 year old women who are sat on the pavement holding a piece of cardboard those women are definitely not hiding their faces - probably because they aren't cowards.

Those thugs in Dover dont dare show their faces - how very brave of them 🙄🙄

Wolmando · Yesterday 15:08

Did you start a thread when all those left wing men dress the same, covered faces and in black.

And it is always men.

I did have to laugh at the clip I saw of the BBC reporter asking why they were there and one of them just continually telling the others not to talk. I suspect he was worried at what his fellow Mensa candidates would come out with!

Littlebearbutadog · Yesterday 15:08

It's unfortunately probably about time, something has to be done

Flumposie3 · Yesterday 15:09

To be honest what they wore made me think they had deliberately tried to look like people entering the country illegally to make a point. The dark clothes, hidden faces etc. I hadn't considered facial recognition.

If you’ve been anywhere near Dover, you would understand that the police /
council would never authorise a protest in that area-
the impact that holds up to flow of traffic in/ out of that area are renowned -
the ferries / HGV’s etc etc

i would expect they would have been some side streets to protest in, well away from
any areas that would attract attention such a outside the port of Dover as they did

you can notify the authorities of a planned protest, but you cannot have any location by default -

im guessing but I would assume that they’ve gone for what would have brought most disruption / attention - cause disruption at the port
a bit like farmers driving tractors on the motorway to London
or the oil protesters lying on the roads blocking traffic / ambulances etc ..

I believe they are concerned about keeping their jobs if they are seen to be publicly concerned about loss of control of our borders -

No ‘thugs’ were arrested at Dover
no arrests made
I wonder why if they were thugs ??

People do this at the Pro-Pal marches too. They use face masks or keffiyehs. It's very apparent at the campus protests too.

I think they're far worse to be honest. Calling for the destruction of an entire country of 10 million Jews and Arabs.

Can you really be surprised at people are angry OP? Given that we effectively have no border and our government does nothing. Surely you read the news. Every week it's horrifying after horrifying story in the papers. An OAP gets sodomized by an Eritrean migrant in a church yard in broad daylight? What did you think was going to happen. As the old adage goes, of reasonable people won't manage the border, unreasonable people will.

Prepare for civil war, basically..

That's not what it says. A small sample of 5500 people would use the army to stop small boats. It's a question about methodology that could be employed IF you were to stop them. That's not the same as 59% of the country wanting to stop small boats.

Wow. So you from this and other comments you think the majority of British people don't want the boats to be stopped.

From that we can infer:

  1. You support the boats and illegal immigrants
  2. You support higher levels of immigration
  3. You likely favour more benefits for immigrants
