I've just seen a woman among those protestors. Wonder if she realises how lucky she is to come out unscathed. Bonkers some of those comments were.

You told me to “have a day off” earlier in a post that was then deleted by admin (not sure why, but apparently it broke some rule). I still actually can’t tell what your point is. Anyway my point was that whatever people are protesting, whether on the left or right, I don’t believe they should have face coverings as they are clearly in bad faith. Not sure what I was to have a day off from in that view.

Pakistan expelled many or most Afghans quite recently.

Some really xenophobic comments were allowed to stand on that other thread despite multiple posters highlighting how deeply hurtful and offensive they were.

Of course they’ll be arrests. I saw a video of the police pulling over a car that was following the migrant coaches to their next destination under the pretence of checking their tyres. They will do everything possible to bring to full force of the law down on these people as they think that’s the most effective way to quell the possibility of civil unrest.

I’m not sure they’re right, I think the opposite might happen and we will see numbers equivalent to the poll tax protests. But we’ll have to wait and see. Everyone loses by the way if we descend into civil war. We are already skint and we will just become a ruination of a country.

Honestly I would absolutely love it. All the shoplifters, the bike thieves, the drug dealers. Get those dregs of society to show their faces. Track all of their crimes (and they’ll be masses and masses of it)? Build more prisons and put them away. Petty crimes are what ruins communities and very often it’s a small pocket of lawlessness that fucks the whole area over. Make everyone show their faces. Let’s see you all!

I do wish that there were consequences for men who committed/ commit sexual violence against women and children too. Whether historic or recent. All named, and the full force of the law thrown at them.

Not able to use loopholes ‘disappear’ and phoenix into someone ‘new’ by altering their names/ pretending their sex is different. All those nasty f(ckers put away, and then monitored for life, so they don’t get to do it to new victims. Sex abusers/ paedophiles don’t become safe ever, so their style need cramping in order to give them no leeway.

We are moving towards Communism step by step anyhow. People want it. I listened to the most fascinating podcast yesterday on China and it was incredibly eye opening.

I think it’s the most recent Triggernometry episode with Frank Dikkoter. Well worth a listen (while I’m cleaning 😜).

I think Socialism is a step towards Communism and the progressives clearly crave Socialism as end-stage Capitalism is dealing out young people. The argument is usually that Socialism doesn’t end with Communism but in the current political Venn diagram there is an obvious overlap, particularly because in America many of the (paid) protesters were being funded by a Communist based in China.

We don't even have socialism in the UK. We have simply temporarily replaced a right of centre moderate administration with a left of centre moderate administration. We are a cautious small c conservative nation with very little appetite for anything more radical than this.
I wouldn't let the enthusiasm of youth for something more (nearly all age out into moderation) or some loud online voices persuade you otherwise.
If anything there's a push further right. Which hopefully will be equally temporary if people stop spreading scare stories about the left and the moderate right sorts itself out.

People simply don't read history. Communism was overthrown. End of. China became wealthy because they adopted a capitalist economy, while maintaining the apparatus of a central dictatorship. Selling their goods to the West has lifted millions of Chinese out of poverty. I have visited China many times and have to admit the money is well spent on infrastucture, a first class transport system, impeccably clean streets, cities and high rises. No homeless, graffiti, litter or graffiti. Doing drugs gets the death penalty.

Unless of course you go into the countryside where it’s grinding poverty.

No. The point I was making is that China is now a capitalist country who sells their goods to the West and that capitalism has lifted millions of Chinese out of poverty and provided first class infrastructure and homes
