Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

Bollocks! I havent seen pro palestine demonstrators with balaclavas on. When the police are busy arresting 70 year old women who are sat on the pavement holding a piece of cardboard those women are definitely not hiding their faces - probably because they aren't cowards.

Those thugs in Dover dont dare show their faces - how very brave of them 🙄🙄

Exactly. The police love arresting elderly women holding a sign saying Palestine Action but they made no arrests at all at the Dover protest, despite the disruption and delays that they caused. They all looked very intimidating too.

Utter dick heads the lot of them

Latest figures show a sharp drop in immigration over the last year and a sharp drop in small boat crossings. So the govt is addressing immigration. I agree these masked men very intimidating and give off black shirt / Moseley vibes - horrible.

But imigration started in 2003 with Blair allowing uncontrolled Eastern Europeans in, 300,000 pa roughly. T May as home sec promised to get it below 250,00 in 2014? Or thereabouts and failed -hadn’t it risen to 1 million with Boris -so that’s about 5million maybe -allowing for some to have gone back -but that’s just the recorded numbers -who know who else is here unrecorded cos the Gov doesn’t know, no one knows and remember they’re largely single men

Brexit isn’t causing the issues. Look at the EU and countries still part of it. Surely you’ve noticed that

A lot of Brexit haters don"t seem to notice these things, strange isn"t it, East Germany has basically gone to the Right and Le Pen is probably going to be running France soon, plus multiple countries in the EU are now making their own border rules. I always thought it would crumble because of economic pressure, looks like it is going to be the pressure of people that breaks it?

LuckyHazelFox · Yesterday 16:08

Hold up Palestine Action signs and expect to be arrested. What part of a proscribed terrorist group do these people not understand?

Yep, people have had enough, Nigel and Co. will play that like a fiddle, they are just waiting for AB to run into trouble with the markets then he will be a dead duck walking.

Everyone should be able to have an opinion, many people are scared about the numbers of small boats and illegal immigrants. But the way they’ve covered their faces feels very cowardly. I don’t think face coverings have any place in British society, the only acceptable face covering/mask should be those used for medical reasons.

I’m not sure which country will switch first, I suppose Poland and Hungary have anyway. But Germany and France are close. Brexit isn’t a factor in any of those places, the issues are the same.

EmeraldShamrock000 · Yesterday 16:12

No, not for me. I see citizens at the end of their tether, trying to bring attention to an issue that the government is ignoring. It is unfortunate to it has come to this.
Before the pounce. I’m sure many wanted to call trouble but others want to hid their face while protesting as it’s frowned upon, people are getting arrested for tweeting, they’d definitely lose their job for protesting at Dover.,

They do it because they don't want to be identified. This cowardly country's employers would no doubt be under pressure to sack them. No doubt they have rent and mortgages to pay and food to buy. People deserve to have a way of protesting and expressing their fear and anger at the way our country is going.

I'm sure the pompous leftists will absolutely love their quaint villages and hipster areas being shared by people who despise us and often harm us. You'll be getting your share soon, don't worry.

Are you talking about those aligning with Palestine Action Group, who have been warned about consequences?

My friend’s brother has been in prison since before PA were designated as a terrorist organisation. I’m not sure what he did, other than attend a protest. It seems neither are the government as they haven’t brought him to trial as there is nothing a jury can convict him of.

WinterGold · Yesterday 16:16

EasternStandard · Yesterday 16:05

Do people who mind this particular group also object to any face covering?

I do.

i object to any man or woman covering their face whether for religious or political reasons.

Human interaction relies heavily on facial expressions and non-verbal cues. Masking the face can be seen as creating a barrier to trust, social connection, and integration within a community.

Consequently, I don’t trust anyone who attends a demonstration of any political persuasion who wears a mask. We are in a democracy, you don’t need to hide your face unless you have nefarious reasons.
A woman wearing a burqa is being denied agency; she is being intentionally isolated and denied integration and controlled by men.

Agree with all of this.

No, they tend to cover their faces with Keffiyeh instead.

Its a scarf not a mask and the demonstrations I've been on no one covered their face with a Keffiyah, they wore them as scarves . But dont let the truth get in the way of your lies. And those old people sitting on the pavement with cardboard placards getting arrested, they had no balaclava or any masks, because they aren't cowards - like the thugs you admire.

No. I’m old enough to remember the civil rights movement in the USA. Thst was serious stuff.

This was just the usual ‘rent a mob’ that attend most protests - whether it’s oil, immigrants, any politics or whatever.

Not very bright, and slightly stupid.

Septembersunrays · Yesterday 16:20

I would have been absolutely terrified seeing that lot and not knowing what or who.

Apparently they didn't have any banners or let people know what they were doing ??

Poor people about to go on holiday as well getting that fright and all the other issues with ruining people's holidays and journeys.

I don't know whether it's correct but I did read that they were masked up to avoid surveilance but to also illustrate like with the men coming on boats, we don't know who they are ? Could be wrong.

I without a doubt think we need urgent action on the boats but this for me was a step too far.

Let's hope Burnham gets a grip where others have failed.

Unfortunately a majority of voters (probably mostly those more likely to support Reform/Restore) voted for the exact conditions which were the catalyst for the small boat trafficking - Brexit.

It’s an issue across most of Europe. Whether or not we had remained in the EU would have made little difference.

The majority of young men arriving here without papers are not refugees. They are not needed here, they are a drain on shrinking resources. I have young granddaughters, I don't want them exposed to men for whom a leaflet about unwanted sexual advances was deemed to be necessary.

So start with the teenagers masked up and driving e-bikes, motorbikes etc, at speed through high streets up and down the land scaring OAP"s, they are a much bigger problem than a bunch of people making a peaceful protest about undocumented unidentified migrants breaking the law by arriving illegally by boat.

I said that I would ban the wearing of balaclavas and masks in public, other than face masks for medical reasons.

I didn't specify banning the wearing of those items only at demos so it would obviously include teenage thugs as well as the cowardly extremists from both the Far Left and the Far Right.

StandFirm · Yesterday 16:23

Freedom to protest is absolutely sacrosanct - covering faces with balaclavas is not protesting it's thuggery. Every protest in the last few years has not had that, that's a statement not based on fact. Your post has a tone of cynical whataboutery.

And also blocking access to critical infrastructure is way beyond the scope of peaceful protesting.

Presumably the pro Gaza bloke from Kneecap didn’t get the memo?
