To think 25 is too late to find the LOML

I met the love of my life, but he moved away to Australia for a great job and found a wife a few years later. I know that if he hadn't moved, we would still be together and be married with kids. He is what I would describe as a 'high value' man: employed, beautiful, 6', kind, good with kids, funny, athletic, loyal, wrote me poems, passionate, romantic, domestic, did all housework. I am green with envy towards his wife.

It seems like even the least desirable men in society still discard me after a few weeks. I mean men who are unemployed, ugly, hate children, short, mean, minimum wage, addicted to porn and or video games, abusive, broke etc.

Why is it that I was able to attract one high value man in my entire life who became absolutely psychotically crazily madly in love with me but can't even seem to find anyone with more than two of the same aforementioned traits?

I'm told (mainly by friends mothers I admit) that I am an 'attractive' woman. I have friends, my own house, an Oxford education and a good job and I normally try to suppress my neediness and fragility in relationships but it seems to always bubble to the surface despite how hard I try to mask it. I end up feeling used and discarded. I am utterly miserable and my mother and sister have no issues finding or maintaining a man.

I'm pitiful and the humiliation of being disposed of so frequently is driving me to some very dark thoughts.

Jeez - what’s all this ‘high value’ bullshit? And no 25 isn’t too old to meet someone that you can have a meaningful relationship with obviously but you need to relax a bit about it all.

Misfitkickedoutonthestreet · 25/09/2024 13:43

YABU. If he was the love of your life, he wouldn’t be in Australia married to someone else for a start.

25 is very young. You need to work on yourself - and also height has NOTHING to do with how ‘high value’ a man is.

Clearinguptheclutter · 25/09/2024 13:43

Yabu!
I met my husband when we were both 30. Turns out that both of us had come out of long term relationships we thought were marriage material but it turned out not to be.

at 25 you’ve got ages

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 25/09/2024 13:44

I would hazard a guess that most people haven’t met the love of their life at 25. I met my husband at 28.
The issue here is your lack of self worth, however. Have you tried therapy?

Penguinmouse · 25/09/2024 13:45

No it’s not too late but if “I'm told (mainly by friends mothers I admit) that I am an 'attractive' woman. I have friends, my own house, an Oxford education and a good job” is how you project yourself, this might be why you are struggling.

romdowa · 25/09/2024 13:45

I met my husband 8 weeks before my 30th birthday. 6 years later and we are married with a dc. You've loads of time

Mari2003 · 25/09/2024 13:45

absolutely psychotically crazily madly in love

That sounds unhealthy.

MonsteraMama · 25/09/2024 13:46

Child. 25 is still so young, you have all the time in the world. Perhaps stop talking about "high value" and "low value" people, it's giving femcel vibes which is deeply unattractive no matter how pretty or educated you are.

Also reality check : if he loved you that much he wouldn't have chosen a job over you. Also someone being psychotically in love with you is not a good thing. I would stop using this romance with this man who now lives with his wife thousands of miles away as your yardstick, because you're measuring other people against a fantasy that never happened.

TennisLady · 25/09/2024 13:46

No. 25 is young. I thought I had the LOML at 25, turned out by 30 he wasn't. I met another LOML again at 34.

Absolutely this op! Jeezo.

Beth216 · 25/09/2024 13:48

I think you need to forget men and work on your self esteem.

Missingpotatocroquettes · 25/09/2024 13:48

Why is this written like a Reddit incel impersonating a woman? All the high value stuff and being used up by the grand old age of 25?

Feelinadequate23 · 25/09/2024 13:49

Of course it's not too old! Many of my friends (and me!) met their DHs in their late twenties or early-mid thirties.

You do sound very intense - I don't mean this as a criticism, more an observation, and you do seem to admit this yourself. It's definitely time to work on being happy on your own first, before you are ready to meet that special someone and build a life together.

I think the "high value" thing is not working in your favour. Try to broaden your mind about the qualities you are looking for. Really you just need someone who loves you and makes you happy, and who you love and make happy in return.

Please stop panicking, OP! you have plenty of time, so just relax, work on yourself and take your time!

pinkfondu · 25/09/2024 13:49

He may have been tge live if your life, however it's unlikely you are the love of his

Cynic17 · 25/09/2024 13:50

At 25, you're a baby! So much time left to mature, enjoy your life and maybe meet a partner.
But ditch your romantic notions, please. There is no such thing as a "love of my life" - we marry for all sorts of reasons, including love, but none of us should be naive. And you don't "know" that you and your previous partner would be married with kids - not at all.
Stop reading unrealistic romantic novels, join the real world and make the most of the wonderful thing you have - your youth.

cuddlebear · 25/09/2024 13:50

Well if he was that bothered about you he wouldn’t have fucked off to Australia without you would he?

You absolutely DO NOT KNOW that you would have got married if he had stayed here. Tbh it seems quite unlikely.

You appear to have a very surface level view of relationships which is quite stilted and odd.

pickedplock · 25/09/2024 13:50

I'm not sure setting the bar at "psychotically" in love you is a healthy thing to do, if that's normal to you, you may not have a healthy attitude to dating and relationships.

Gorton · 25/09/2024 13:51

There is so much misogyny online by so called red pill influencers. Your fears are a direct result of the hate they spread.

According to them, women should be virgins on their wedding days, education is a waste of time for females, taking care of men and future children is the only worthwhile role for women who become bitter and passed it on their 21st birthday. If you are not the things listed above then you are low value and not wife material.

Sick. And untrue.

These are fairly standard things, no?

You sound like you’ve been reading/watching too many rom coms.

Your ex can’t have loved you that much if he moved to Australia. I don’t say that to be mean, you just clearly weren’t right for each other.

Stop thinking and talking about Loves of your life, things aren’t necessarily that dramatic. Stop with all the high value stuff. Just enjoy your twenties, don’t go into every romantic interaction with the hope and expectation that it will be your One Great Romance.
Your future husband will be lovely I’m sure but will have his faults like everyone else, don’t pass him over because he doesn’t appear to be ‘high value’.

Probably because i'm something of a 'femcel' myself.

I think viewing people as high and low value is a bit off

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 25/09/2024 13:54

Well, I'm plain as a pikestaff, didn't own a house or go to university until I was in my fifties and I've had several 'loves of my life'. The love either wore off or got trashed, but they were fine when they were happening. Now I am very contendedly single.

Life is what YOU make it. Men are a nice accompaniment, not the be-all and end-all.

It’s a direct result of red pill influencers online who spout this shit. Andrew Tate et al. They speak in these terms
