Keeping Mumsnet safe: Illegal and harmful content we don’t allow

Mumsnet is for adults only - you must be 18 or older to use this site.

We do not allow illegal or harmful content on Mumsnet. You must not post anything that includes or promotes:

Child sexual abuse content – including grooming, sharing or linking to abusive material.
Terrorism – supporting terrorist groups, encouraging attacks, or sharing related materials.
Threats, harassment or abuse - including stalking, bullying, threatening or insulting others.
Coercive control – controlling or abusive behaviour in relationships.
Hate – stirring up hatred based on race, religion, sexuality, or similar.
Sharing private sexual images – showing intimate images without someone’s permission.
Extreme pornography – content that shows serious harm, or is otherwise illegal under UK law.
Sexual exploitation – forcing or encouraging adults to do sex work for someone else’s gain.
Illegal immigration or trafficking – helping people enter the UK illegally or exploiting them.
Fraud and scams – tricking people to steal money or personal information.
Proceeds of crime – hiding, moving, or using money made through criminal activity.
Encouraging suicide or self-harm – including sharing methods or promoting harmful behaviour.
Drugs or weapons – selling, showing how to make, or encouraging use of illegal drugs or weapons.
Animal cruelty – promoting or showing harm to animals.
Foreign interference – trying to influence public opinion on behalf of another country.

We review serious reports promptly (usually within 24 hours) and may:

Be respectful: No harassment, bullying, impersonation, or personal attacks.
Don’t copy or steal content: Only share things you created or have permission to use.
No scraping or AI training: You cannot copy or analyse Mumsnet content using bots or AI tools.
Don’t post affiliate links: You need permission before posting links that earn you money.
Don’t break copyright laws: Respect intellectual property.

You still own your content, but by posting it on Mumsnet, you give us permission to use it — including displaying it on the site and using it in promotions.
Your posts must be accurate, legal, and respectful of others’ rights.
You are responsible if your post causes harm or breaks the law.
