“Walking. Took a couple of weeks to see the benefits. Walking is like a triple threat - you get fresh air and exercise for your physical health, it helps your mental health and if you listen to an audiobook or podcast you boost your knowledge too.” linerforlife
“Any form of exercise that you enjoy :) yoga, pilates, walking, dance fitness etc. I found joining classes at the gym really helped with structuring my free time.” Kat1953
Exercise is not just good for your health, it’s also a great way of enhancing your mental wellbeing too. During lockdown though, people realised that being active doesn’t have to mean taking part in a sport or doing an exercise class for an hour - especially if that doesn’t appeal to you.
Short bursts of exercise, such as a walk, are also really beneficial to your mental wellbeing. A brisk walk can help to improve your mental alertness, energy and mood. Lower intensity workouts, like Pilates, are becoming more popular, too, as they can help build up strength and get that endorphin rush without having to slog it out at the gym. Whatever you enjoy, exercise is hugely beneficial to your mental wellbeing and you don’t have to commit to a gym membership to reap the rewards.
