"Yesterday Liverpool City Councillor [Paul Kenyon] gave this remarkable response to an act of vandalism on a Liverpool landmark and public artwork.

The mural was defaced by trans activists in an attempt to further intimidate-at her home-local artist and housing activist [Nina Edge]. Nina was targeted by TRA's and reportedly sacked from her lecturing job at LJMU for expressing concerns re: self-id (she has now kept her job).

Despite requests, no-one from [Liverpool Council] has contradicted Kenyon's statement of support for this act. Very unusual as any acts of vandalism are quickly condemned by local Cllrs. We can only assume that TRA's have free reign to desecrate the City due to their "positive message"

Kenyon's apparent support of this act of vandalism is in great contrast to his response to a small penis-shaped sticker, stating a biological fact, which was placed at Crosby beach in the summer (aka the "most horrific thing" he'd seen). [Mayor Joe Anderson] was also quick to condemn.

Following the sticker debacle, the city council put through a motion, pushing for mixed sex toilets to be introduced - with no debate, consultation or equality impact assessments - and declaring (caps theirs) "TRANS WOMEN ARE WOMEN."
When challenged [Mayor Joe Anderson] told @ RogersPhoneIn that women's concerns should be listened to, he then went on to bully, abuse & shout at a lone woman speaker from [Liverpool Resisters] in the council chamber" (continues)

Is it as simple as one activist councillor plus the rest taking a knee-jerk stance on the side of the 'oppressed minority' du jour?

From my reading of this, there are at least three male councillors who've behaved badly on this issue. Paul Kenyon, Harry Doyle and the Mayor. It's getting harder and harder to avoid the conclusion that some men are really, really enjoying having a good excuse for being foul to women and putting them back in their box. The gender identity debate is just a useful peg to hang this misogyny on.

Very unlikely given the wider and related issues of power, misogyny, sexism etc.

Some councillors will of course have reacted as you say.

When pro women stickers went up, Paul was part of the baying pack. I was gobsmacked by he and Joe.
Gobsmacked that elected public officials would lead a hunt like that:

Oh and as for Doyle...

He once said he didn't really know much about trans. Didn't have a clue how many trans identifying people there are in his community.

But that even if there was just one, that would be his priority.

Of course there is. I don't understand how some posters on here can reconcile being members of Momentum and their views expressed on here. Momentum is vicious, undemocratic and totalitarian.

This is seriously so scarey - that they think it is acceptable, even heroic, to speak out like that - and have no concern about women. Surely some of them are married and have daughters and can actually think about the implications?

On the long thread 'Motion Against Liverpool Resisters' (linked above) there are some very concerning known historical situations which demonstrate Joe Anderson's disregard for safeguarding children.

"A FORMER councillor accused of downloading child porn deleted hundreds of files off his computer the day after his party leader revealed he was under investigation.

One-time Clubmoor councillor Benjamin Williams, 35, admitted he had removed 207 files from his computer's memory the day after speaking to Liverpool Labour leader Cllr Joe Anderson in December 2007.

He was arrested two days later on suspicion of making indecent images. But Williams, of Townsend Avenue, Norris Green, yesterday insisted he had deleted the files to simply make his computer work more quickly.

History and politics teacher Williams had originally fallen under suspicion in October 2006 after the IT manager at Southport's King George V (KGV) college discovered he had been putting explicit terms such as “Lolita” and “child porn” into school computers.

During his second day of evidence yesterday, Williams confirmed Cllr Anderson had told him a section 47 enquiry was underway. A section 47 enquiry is a joint social services and police investigation into child protection issues.

But Williams insisted he did not realise the police would be involved.

From what I can work out (not an accountant) ACC Ltd. runs at a loss of £0.5m pa. While paying directors (maybe Joe, maybe not) a quarter of a million pounds.
And if the company goes bust? The City, via the Council, is liable for all debts. That's us.

After the arrests Joe Anderson kept Ged Fitzgerald in post for four months and also paid him A YEAR'S SALARY. To the tune of £200,000.
