talkradio.co.uk/radio/listen-again/1534928400#

around 06:27.

Ann asking if the stickers are anti trans or have a wider point. Elicits some sympathy for single sex spaces from IW (describes self as TS).

Confused Why does India keep up with the line that five foot women are rounding up six foot two male bodied trans people and putting them in concentration camps?

Why does India keep up with the line that five foot women are rounding up six foot two male bodied trans people and putting them in concentration camps?

Seriously? Did she really say that?!

placemats · 22/08/2018 16:56

So India only wanted to speak to Ann Widdecombe?

Says it all really.

Accidents · 22/08/2018 17:03

No IW did not use those words, it's implied.

VickyEadie · 22/08/2018 17:25

No IW did not use those words, it's implied.

The thing is, I could believe IW did say it!

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 22/08/2018 17:40

On which time slot of the show is it? There are lots of options for different half hours.

frazzled1 · 22/08/2018 18:04

It's on the 12-12.30 slot (clicky link above gets you straight there).

Thanks!
The link took me to the overall page. I think that website is terribly done.

heresyandwitchcraft · 22/08/2018 22:52

IW says that some of the ideas in trans activism are cause for concern, but then ALSO says women's rights campaigners are as bad as the Nazis.
WTAF.
I agree with Anne - IW needs to go get some education from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

HerFemaleness · 23/08/2018 00:02

If you can't tell the difference between somebody who disagrees with your beliefs, and somebody who is advocating for your extermination, then you really shouldn't be on the radio acting as a spokesperson.

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 23/08/2018 03:53

IW just likes to hear IW’s own voice.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/08/2018 12:13

Godz, India Willoughby appears to have completely lost the plot. Comparing feminists to the Nazis? I think better of Ann Widdecombe for cutting the interview short.

India seemed quite unsettled - talking over Ann and rambling on. I found myself wondering if India had had a drink or two.

It's a pity so many of those who interview people promoting a trans agenda don't seem to check out their claims in advance. The insistence that TW are very much more likely to be the victim of violent crime isn't true. The claim that a far higher percentage of transwomen are killing themselves than the average is also untrue. But unless you can call on the details of these facts you can't challenge the subject of your interview.

frazzled1 · 23/08/2018 15:38

Good point about interviewers doing some homework in advance.

IW rambles on & dodges the question of whether the stickers are anti trans or do they highlight other issues. Claims female prisoners are equally at risk from violent lesbians. Says no inherent risk to women prisoners from trans prisoners as they're no more or less likely than others to be a threat....... Hmm

so many of those who interview people promoting a trans agenda don't seem to check out their claims in advance.

It's infuriating when when interviewers don't have this in their briefing notes. However, cynically, a rational exchange of figures and corrections etc. doesn't make for the style of 'conflicted talking heads/voices' that is so popular on radio/TV in the UK.

It seems like a media version of Frankfurt's On Bullshit. (Decent discussion of this in Philosophy Now )
