In today's Times - I'll put the shared link in the next post as not sure it works from the OP

Another good article from Janice 👏🏻

PenguindreamsofDraco · 20/10/2018 06:53

That is a very very good article.

Stand by for smoke bombs, Janice.

Goposie · 20/10/2018 07:04

Excellently

AngryAttackKittens · 20/10/2018 07:32

I see the attempts to bully her into shutting up went well.

Rumbledore · 20/10/2018 07:34

An excellent article which I will save for future reference,

KataraJean · 20/10/2018 07:45

That is extremely well-written and to the point.

Two things out of many excellent points:

  1. I am glad she stated what Professor Whittle said. While welcome that Whittle acknowledged thereafter that it was appropriate, changing the online copy of the Guardian erases the fact that Whittle said it for future readers.
  1. I am glad that Janice says that she makes these arguments because women cannot risk their livelihoods by making them. But the visibility of the issues relies on women who have risked abuse and their jobs to make the arguments. Janice Turner is one reason I buy the Times.

One more point: the correct data from GIDS. Good to see in print.

hackmum · 20/10/2018 07:45

Superb.

HandsOffMyRights · 20/10/2018 08:00

Thanks Janice.

pennydrew · 20/10/2018 08:07

Brilliant and important. At least someone is writing about the completely inappropriate conversation around suicide.

boatyardblues · 20/10/2018 08:10

Great article Janice. Awful that you’ve been subjected to such a horrible slur.

SomeEnchantedEaring · 20/10/2018 08:16

An excellent article. Janice is one of the main reasons why I have taken out an online subscription for The Times.

AngryAttackKittens · 20/10/2018 08:18

I wonder if her bosses are aware of not only how many new subscriptions her work has led to, but how many of those switched over from The Guardian. Not only poaching customers from your rival but persuading them to pay to read?

Give Janice Turner a raise, is what I'm saying.

citykat · 20/10/2018 08:33

Email to the Times Editor to make the point? They won't publish it but a show of support might be good. I'm going to.

arranfan · 20/10/2018 08:45

We need bags. Bags that list:

I stand with...

Maybe we need readily updatable ones with digital displays - but we need something.

The whistleblowers of major scandals have been predominantly female. Janice is showing courage even tho' she has already been targeted in such an abhorrent way.

CallingDannyBoy · 20/10/2018 08:46

Good idea citykat think I’ll do that. Great article and one of her strongest yet - when will some of the media outlets do the same - BBC especially.

OvaHere · 20/10/2018 08:46

Another great article. Well done Janice.

GulagsMyArse · 20/10/2018 09:16

This past year, since Maria Miller’s women and equalities committee report, must have been gruelling for many trans people. I feel huge compassion for those stuck in the crossfire of a vicious debate. But Mrs Miller is to gender what David Cameron was to Brexit. She created a toxic, divisive mess then left others to clear up. In ignoring concerns from women’s groups, listening only to trans lobbyists, she recommended far-reaching legal changes including self-identification and an end to single-sex spaces, thus rewriting the definitions of “man” and “woman”.

This !!!!

scepticalwoman · 20/10/2018 09:22

A good article and comments underneath are excellent.

Rumbledore · 20/10/2018 09:24

What does Jackie Doyle-Price, the UK’s first Minister for Suicide Prevention have to say about the suicide stats?

RedToothBrush · 20/10/2018 09:25

Stephen Pollard @ stephenpollard
This is a sensible, calm and rather important piece by @VictoriaPeckham, who has been appallingly traduced and deserves total support

Editor of the Jewish Chronicle.

BigotedWoman · 20/10/2018 10:02

Brilliant article. Will buy a paper copy today too.

nauticant · 20/10/2018 11:03

Here's someone taking issue with Janice:

twitter.com/CorbynBOY/status/1053545004893900801

It is contemptible.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/10/2018 11:07

Yeah, they got owned though, didn't they? By the facts.

TimeLady · 20/10/2018 11:23

They more they post, the more unhinged they look.
