Hmm indeed. Oh look, language being policed again.

Interested to hear the debate from the public after the debate.

Scott was very, very aggressive in his policing of her very reasonable and medically correct and sensitive language.

Scott was quite unpleasant towards Dr Dawn.

They're not even gonna mention women's rights

After the break not debate Blush

Scott is incapable of letting other people speak.

Watching this now. The female gp made a good point. Pregnancy isn't an illness, yet we still have midwives and people to monitor and support us to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible.

Why are the trans community so against this? If you're messing around with hormones you need medical intervention.

BiologyMatters · 04/07/2018 10:56

Scott is extremely rude. The debate turned out to be not about self ID.

Report
DeleteOrDecay · 04/07/2018 10:57

And yes not one mention on the impact this might have on women and women's spaces, not one. It's literally what trans people want trans people get regardless of how this might possibly impact women.

Scott was insufferable as usual.

Well, isnt Scott a patronising arse... Not sure of the name of the new lady presenter, but for him to talk agressively over her and ‘suggest’ her ignorance around opressed communities... She is a black woman FFS... pretty sure she understands being part of a community that has experienced discrimination Scott, you dont have the moratorium on opression!!. Hmm

Report
Ilikelotsofthinngs · 04/07/2018 10:58

Because some of them don't want to mess around with hormones or anything else and that's what the consultation is about, making it easier for people to change gender just by saying so.
They didn't even mention women. I could see it coming.

So all non commentors were male born (hoping I don't get a ban for phrasing it like That!). Nothing at all on why it is being opposed. Interesting that Scott felt it shouldn't go ahead until Ms May had more MP support. Presumably wanting it to go through unopposed?

For clarity: I am sure Scott and the people ringing in have only the best intentions. But they are only seeing their side and not why there are concerns.

I felt like there was so much pussy footing around. No one really wants to get their teeth into this topic for fear of being seen as a bigot.

Agree totally Mip, the trouble is, these noble and quite understandable intentions, (greater inclusivity etc...) are clouding their perception around reality and fairness for wider society and not just a select few.

The quote, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” was never more apt! Wink

This is a huge problem. A spade needs to be called a spade.

The pussy footing was because the Wright Stuff is now being produced by a new "woke" production company. Matthew Wright was fairly factual person amd the rumour was he left the show because they tried to make him apologize for Ann Hegarty saying that Paris Lees was born male www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/showbiz-tv/matthew-wright-quit-wright-stuff-14603357.amp

Wow. I’ve always had a bit of a secret crush on Matthew Wright, in part because he has pushed the boundaries (sometimes accidentally) on what you can and can’t say on TV.

I’m amazed that the Blue Peter presenter incident didn’t make the list on the Birmingham Mail link, and also that this isn’t being widely reported in national tabloids?

I’ve not actually owned a TV since the analogue signal was switched off in my area, mind you!
