I missed this, I caught a bit of the genderquake programme, all the drama occuring in the house itself, but missed the debate, is it on catch up?

Karen Ingala-Smith is in the audience - I'll be waving Pom poms in support FlowersFlowersGrin

I didn't watch last night...I did exchange posts with two guys on facebook that thought biology was a given and didn't realise some are saying that their male bodies are actually female, so I guess that aspect didn't come out.

What a disappointment. Why wasn't it called the Jenner & Bergdorf show?
The invited audience did not get a chance to speak and the bias was shocking.

The heckling was a really bad idea.
Really bad.

Sarah Ditum was constantly talked over which must have frustrated the Gender critical members of the audience... But the heckling made gender critical women in the audience look really bad.
We will never win this debate shouting penis.
WTGLWGH.

Totally bias debate!

There were only two panelists questioning self ID - the other five panelists were pro self ID. Cathy Newman gave way more airtime to Jenner and Bergdorf.
Jenner didn't address any of the questions or issues and just rambled on about personal experience anecdote.
Interestingly research shows that men speak 75% more than women in meetings.

And who spoke more in this debate?

It was an absolute car crash with an astonishingly biased presenter who hadn't done her research - GG had never appeared on the Victoria Derbyshire show. No wonder she appeared confused when the presenter launched her attack on her.

None of the important topics were covered and SD and GG were shouted down and talked over constantly.

And what on earth was the point of having an audience there?

I'll be interested to hear @therealposieparker's insider report.

My god, Jenner droned on endlessly - Cathy Newman was literally the worst/most bias presenter ever to head a debate.

Sarah came across really well but was talked over constantly- id like to say I was shocked. Greer looked confused, like she'd walked into the wrong debate- which is a shame. The audience members completely ruined it for gender critical feminists IMO - it was childish and we didn't need more bad press!!

Yes its a shame about the heckling. But interesting how Berghorf immediately called for them to be silenced - and 'removed', with Jenner agreeing - as usual silence the opposition. That's what I find scary about this whole thing.

Unfortunately they won the argument here on the basis of personal feelings - not the issues at stake.

I thought the panel were up for a decent conversation that presenter was god awful so biased and she caught Germaine greer out I did think Germaine looked a bit lost . Caitlyn Jenner talked endlessly about caitlyn Jenner it could have been a good debate if it wasn't for the presenter and hecklers who made total planks of themselves they clearly thought they were big and clever though I wonder if they had a few gins before they went ?

We were repeatedly encouraged to heckle

Really ? It just showed women shouting out nonsense everytime somebody tried to speak I think if I was sitting there being shouted and heckled that way I would want you removed too, if ch4 did encourage it to put audience in a bad light it might have well been an episode of Jerry Springer it was obviously biased and I think audience members got swept away which is a real shame.

Report
Ereshkigal · 09/05/2018 11:59

Why else would C4 invite a studio audience of prominent activists on both sides of the fence and not let them speak?

Report
OnTheList · 09/05/2018 13:27

I didn't watch this, but I might if it goes on catchup.

A debate where the audience is encouraged to heckle? Odd.

The presenter asking GG about a none existant TV appearance is really shit.

If the audience was heckling everytime someone tried to speak, I don't blame Bergdorf and Jenner for asking for them to be removed tbh.

therealposieparker · 10/05/2018 06:56

I will respond.

I wish we, the activists, had enacted some direct action to be honest.

I will give my account in a bit.

It’s not unreasonable to ask for hecklers to be quiet. I agree it was a shame, talk about playing into the hands of the opposition.

When women are expected to sit quiet and be polite in the wake of our representatives being interrupted and silenced I say heckling is the only choice we have. I don't think it's a shame there was heckling I say it's a damned shame that women are being silenced.

I wish I could have heard the heckling, hardly anything came through to us watching at home. I suspect the heckling would have been more interesting (and honest) to hear than what CJ and MB were coming out with.
