(Yes, it's the DM - because it's one of the only news sources which is balanced on the trans issue)

Saint Caitlyn has a book coming out in which she reveals that she HAS had gender reassessment surgery. I think a few people on here thought that they hadn't.

Anyway, the DM have some interesting pictures which show how trans surgery works.

As always, the comments are very telling... Fair play to the DM for keeping them open!

The skin that had been surrounding the penis is then inverted and used to create a functioning vagina

Nope. Sorry it's not a functioning vagina. It's a surgically created hole that comes to a dead-end. Unless of course, like Jenner, you think the only function of a vagina is to be penetrated.

A vagina doesnt need to be stretched every day to keep it open. And its lined with mucous membrane, not hairy skin.

Interesting. I really assumed Caitlyn had not had surgery, because they gave the impression of a person who was quite enamoured with their male sex organs.

Unless of course, like Jenner, you think the only function of a vagina is to be penetrated

Indeed.

I wouldn't even say that a vagina has a function in and of itself. Keeping dirt and bacteria out of the uterus, perhaps. In essence, it is the gateway to and from the uterus.

To call a dead-end hole a "functioning vagina" is about as nonsensical as painting a door on a wall and call that a functioning door.

Technically it's the correct term to use, because it's in invagination of the penis.

It's just the knob that named our foofs as "vagina" that got it all wrong ]grin{

It wouldn't surprise me if Jenner was bullshitting anyway.

Yes, I'm suspicious. Would this person really pass up the opportunity for the operation and recovery to be shown on a reality TV show?

I've seen transwomen before coyly saying they've had gender reassignment surgery and when pushed they admit they mean facial feminisation or fake breasts. It would not surprise me if Jenner was being equally liberal with the term.

Well the article (and it sounds like the book) made it fairly explicit that Jenner says they have had genital surgery.

I really wish they hadn't written "functioning" vagina though. Because it isn't. At best, it's a fuck-hole, and that is the least of a vagina's functions, if you can even claim it is a function. I also am really interested as to what Jenner means that by having a penis amputation and creating a hole, they are now "living authentically for the first time"? I also wonder how Jenner's children feel at the claim that their penis has no function Confused

Gosh, it must be so galling to spend all that money and go through all that pain and still not pass. Poor Caitlin.

Jenner is 6ft 2in tall, so passing as female was always going to be unlikely.

What Charlie said.

And the irony of the Daily fail being the voice of reason on any subject.

I don't follow the Kardashians, but some of the comments in the Daily Mail indicated that she had been seen out and about every week during which she was supposed to be having surgery.

I agree that sex reassignment surgery can often mean just facial. But she explicitly says she was fed up with tucking her penis, although that seems like a fairly superficial reason to have it cut off.

She's not the brightest tool in the box, but I would think if she was deliberately misleading the media they would be bound to find out and she would get crucified.

Jenner has lied in the past, I believe?

It will be interesting to see what comes out when the book is released anyway...

How does it even resemble a vagina if it's completely dry and stays that way?

Report
ElspethFlashman · 11/04/2017 09:26

She had top surgery done a couple of years ago, so it's not that.

I am a bit surprised tbh as this isn't someone who seemed to dislike their penis.

I know there's a lot of body dysmorphia amongst transgender people but her issue seemed to be more centred on her face and her muscles and wanting it all to look softer. And wanting boobs. But she never spoke about her penis especially bothering her, unless I missed it.

Tucking for the rest of your life is undoubtedly crap and painful though. Maybe her penis just has become more trouble than it's worth.

Maybe it's not so much having a "vagina" as just not wanting a penis anymore.

BartholinsSister

It doesn't, calling it a vagina is insulting to vaginas.

I have a real issue with this, personally. There seems to be the feeling that if someone goes the whole hog in terms of surgery, they are somehow more dedicated to being female.

But having a surgically created hole to resemble female anatomy is pointless, unless it's either to be penetrated, or fetishised. It's a male need to its very core.

Everything, and I mean everything about the ideology is driven by a male need. There is nothing female about any of it.

Caitlyn Jenner has fathered six children made no secret of her sexual orientation. It's possible that being on hormones has reduced her sex drive though.

From what I have read men with AGP often find that the symptoms diminish the longer they are on hormones. But by the same token, many of them do opt for surgery as it is the ultimate goal of being their own fantasy.

Jenner will have to be dilating her neo vagina for half an hour at a time, four times a day. There are also numerous problems that arise from the surgery, from hair growing inside, unpleasant odour, urinary infections, ongoing pain, lack of sensitivity, further surgery, etc.

Unless she has been woefully misinformed, this is not a walk in the park.

Good lord a neoclitoris....?

It won't be long before we are disparaged by aggressive activists for having a paleo vagina will it...

Somehow history will be rewritten and the neo vagina will be painted as the best thing.

I think the person who is woefully misinformed about this surgery is you.

Still, that won't stop you telling other people on here what they want to hear, will it?

Life must be very difficult for cj. As we know, the only thing MTT want to do is live quietly as the women they have always been, living their lives as their authentic selves, indistinguishable from any other women. But, yet again, just as the attention dies down, cj has been thrust into the media spotlight. Not only that, but being forced to highlight how her experience are not shared with women, and can only be experience by men.

I've read there has been some recent success with womb transplants, how long before a solution for trans people is a genitals transplant?
That might give people pause for thought ticking the box on the donor card.

Well, it's her body so she can do what she likes to it a long as a surgeon is prepared to operate. Bodily automony and all that.
Hopefully it achieves what she wanted , with no complications.

Report
soapboxqueen · 11/04/2017 10:28

Interesting. I thought cj had issues with still being attracted to women which would then (in her eyes) make her gay which she is against I believe. Though had no interest in male partners.

Surely genital surgery would make that more complex. Though obviously if she felt she needed for other reasons it would be a moot point.

Report
noeffingidea · 11/04/2017 10:34

Datun those complications are potential. All surgeries have potential complications.
Presumably she was fully informed of the potential risks before surgery so that she was able to give informed consent. It's certainly a legal requirement in the UK.
