Anyone keen for a 6 week challenge?

NoNameNellie · 07/02/2021 18:50

I do well with shorter goals and am hoping to focus on shifting some weight and being more active.

Anyone else care to join and see how much weight we can shift (sensibly!) in the next 6 weeks?

People are welcome to join anytime, I personally will be counting from Monday 7th until March 22nd. I was hit pretty hard by lockdown and am the biggest I’ve ever been... I’ve already managed to shift a little bit of weight, now looking to tackle my long term eating habits and sedentary lifestyle in the coming period.

I’ll be sticking to the following :

  1. No snacking.
  2. 5 fruit/veg per day, protein source at every meal.
  3. Trying to hit 10,000 steps a day.

Other than that, I’m not following any diet in particular, I’m trying to change my habits for the long haul. And of course, being comfortable in summer will be an added bonus!

In these 6 weeks, I’m hoping to shift 8-9 pounds, as well as losing a couple of inches off my belly and bum.

Any takers?

Just logged in looking for something like this. I’m in, and these sound like very sensible goals.

I’m in! I’ve lost 30 lbs and was losing 1-2lbs a week pretty steadily until Christmas where I’ve massively stalled. Could do with a kick up my (still v sizeable) arse.

I’ll be doing 18:6 and no snacks or sugary puddings plus continuing C25k.

Starting weight - 172 lbs

Ooh lovely, welcome everyone! I’ll also be doing a big shop for the week tomorrow. I’m keen to try out some new recipes so that I don’t eat the same meals on rotation and get bored. Has anyone tried soba noodles before?

I did this last summer after the first lockdown took its toll. My three top tips:

  1. use My Fitness Pal and log every morsel carefully. No fad diets or food groups cut out, just eat less and better.
  2. no food before midday
  3. Daily exercise, in the morning, fairly short bursts via Popsugar, Blogilates etc

In fact I kept it going for 12 weeks and lost 1.5 stones.

I’m a lifelong snacker though so couldn’t contemplate three meals a day. Just doesn’t work for me!

@Motherdare wow, well done you! That’s amazing work, and so encouraging to hear. I need to lose about 2 stone, it’s all been piling on fast since the first lockdown, but especially so since September.

How many times a week did you exercise?

I'll join please! I have 3 stone to lose.

I've already been doing 10,000 steps (though I count it as 70,000 a week so if I miss a day I can make up for it, usually at the weekend with a long walk!)

Portion sizes are my downfall so I need to get in control of them.

I'll join you!

I already eat lots of veg and annoyingly allergic to most fruits

So I'm going to -

Steps - 10,000 daily
Try and cut back on dairy (I think it's causing me issues anyway!)
Drink 2 litres of water

TBH I think I'd be happy even if I just felt a bit healthier. I don't drink anywhere as near as much as I should..

I’ll join you.I gained about 4kg last year and haven’t tried hard enough to shift it since. I’ve eaten my entire Christmas cake by myself in the last fortnight!
Ideally I’d like to lose 5kg, and get more active.

Yes please, can I join, I was intending to follow the Louise Parker 6 week programme so that fits perfectly! I have around a stone to lose. I need to stop comfort/boredom/emotional eating in the evening, I literally become out of control at around 7ish!

Yes, me too. I’m working on the basis that in 6 weeks we may be able to see people. A big incentive for me is that people aren’t saying, “ooh, lockdown’s been a bit unkind for Tawny”. A medium short sharp shock is just what I need to banish the worst of the lockdown additions.

My plan is low carb, no sugar, alcohol only at the weekends (and in heartbreakingly small amounts). Lots of exercise. Will deffo need to vent and swear my way through it so count me in!
