Has anyone travelled on Scotrail recently?

Hi there,

I've posted this on Scotsnet but thought I'd put it here too...

I am meant to be going up to Aviemore in a couple of days by train but I'm getting quite worried about what the trains are going to be like in terms of physical distancing. Scotrail aren't allowing you to reserve a seat in advance, so I have no idea how many people will be on the train and if they'll be really crowded. I'm clinically vulnerable and I know Covid rates are low at the moment, but I really don't want to find myself in a situation where I'm hemmed in tightly in a hot train carriage, especially as I've heard lots of people take their masks off on the train. Has anyone travelled from Edinburgh to Aviemore recently who can tell me what it will be like?

Thanks

Have you already booked your ticket? There's 1 LNER operated train a day if that would be an option with reserved seats?

This may not be relevant as I've just realised you've asked about Edinburgh to Aviemore specifically and I realise that may be more "touristy". I travelled on the Glasgow to Aberdeen train 2 weeks ago (not the whole way) and it was fine. Train was not very busy at all. It didn't seem to have extra carriages and you can't reserve a seat, but I think when you book your ticket you are committing to a time and particular train and they do reserve a place on the train so they must know how many people are on one particular train? At least that was my understanding.
