No spend beauty 2019

So after Liberty and M and S advent calanders plus a few presents I’m gonna attempt a no beauty spend 2019. Will eventually need deodorant and shampoo I guess but will see how far I can get before spending....

I'm planning an essentials only 2019 spend. I can buy anything that I run out of and genuinely need, but no stocking up or extras.

So the idea is you list every beauty spend amd it must be an essential only replacing something used up but not an unecessaey item

This is interesting! By beauty do we mean only toiletries/ cosmetics ?
Or clothes as well?
I am not sure I am ready but I am tempted...

Can we also post things items we already have and have used up? The satisfaction will be motivating Grin

I'm in. I reckon I've got enough stashed to have a no spend Jan and Feb then keeping to just replacing the essentials. Between the John Lewis calendar, the Harper's box and my inability to go into Boots without buying something or other I've really got too much stuff! My bathroom is a mess of overflowing products (despite having ok storage) and it's become ridiculous!

If you looked at my product stash without knowing me you would think it must all belong to an immaculatey groomed, highly made up woman rather than a very average, sometimes bedraggled woman!

I'm in, but I'm adding clothes, accessories (bags, gloves,) shoes too. My wardrobe is bursting Blush I spent a fortune buying clothes the past 2 years, so I could honestly get away with not buying anything new for at least 2 years.

I got the Look Fantastic beauty boxes every month in 2018 (now cancelled) as well as 2 beauty advent calendars for December.
I have so many products, I'm overwhelmed with everything.

I'm in!!

Just quit as an Avon rep and my stash is mahooooosive!

I also have a wardrobe that's bulging with clothes and more pairs of decent quality winter boots than I care to admit! I don't need anything for a long long time and need to make better use of all I have.

My only exception to my no hoarding rule is deodorant - I always have to have a spare in the drawer. I panic otherwise but other than that I am not allowed to buy until something is completely used up/worn out!

Another one that sounds like I should be a well put together lady on a daily basis (the truth is some days I don't even manage to brush my hair )

I have no interest in clothes, so that bit's easy but if I live to 200, I'll still not get through all my shampoos 😑 I love a bit of shower gel too and am easy seduced when it comes to lovely new ones. I need to rein it all in.

I am doing a Spends Diary again (I did one last couple of years) its quite enlightening Grin )

My weaknesses are jumpers and showergels .

Jumpers usually starts in September (showergels are all year round)

I have bought some Korres and Elemis showergels recently. Got a Nuxe on the go at the moment.
I need a couple of 'just washing' ones when I want to be scrubbed but not spend the time that my better ones need.

I have enough shampoo and conditioner to last a year .
5 various Optimum skincare bottles (so that's a year worth)
Enough cleanser and facewash.

Just need toothpaste/deodourant and shower gel as needed

I don't think we're going on holiday this year (no plans to) so I won't need clothes/extras for that.

Adds DIARY to shopping list Grin

I’d like to do clothes etc too but don’t want to set myself up to fail so starting with beauty/toiletries and being very strict! No more lifting something cause I’ll need it soon or its on offer - let’s face it there’s always a shampoo on offer! No more beauty boxes or gwp. No more foundation till I’ve used last drop of each of the 4 I currently have! Who really needs 4?!! They are different ones but seriously I can change it up when replacing rather than have 4 on the go!! I have enough mascara to lash till I’m about 90 thanks to boxes and calanders! Want go back to a simpler time when I had one make up bag rather than the massive stash I have currently.

Re beauty hoarders thread - I love it and lurk there all the time but I’m a little bit enabled by it at times. There too much talk of specific products or bargains for me (at present when trying to be ruthless re no spend) and it was where I found out sale dates of the 3 calanders I bought☺️

So I’m setting myself rules eg keep out of boots, delete all beauty emails and unsubscribe, no going down beauty aisle in supermarket or through beauty section of dept store.
Will perhaps list items eg finished a face wash/cleanser checked stash have 7 more to remind myself of need to be strict!!

Good idea. I would also be up for finding some recipes of home made beauty products to stop buying more stuff/cut down plastic. I'm sure I saw a homemade deodorant paste a while ago, but don't think I saved it. Homemade haircare (conditioner/mask and gel at least) are definitely doable and on my mental to do list when I run out. If I don't like them, then I'm allowed to buy ONE of my usual again! Need to use up what I have, first, though!

I need to cut back on clothes buying. I have cut back drastically in the last few years but still have too much.
I am always looking for something that is perfect to add to my mountain of perfect clothes/footwear/coats that I already have.
I'm aiming for replacing tatty basics mainly.
With an occasional look around the charity shops. Problem is, nice one admittedly, that the charity shops near me are amazing.

I'm in. I'm trying to do a no spend year anyway, so not buying anything... Living my the motto, can I do without it for a day? A week? A month? If so, do I really need it? (That's from Bea Johnson's zero waste home book). I've also been trying to give up plastic since August which has helped my beauty spend loads because it's almost all in plastic so it has really helped me to stop buying it. I have decluttered my wardrobe majorly which has been great as it made me realise how much I have, and has let me see some nice things I'd forgotten I had. I really recommend the Bea Johnson book and Marie kondo, both have helped me but I'm still a huge work in progress, but am very determined going into 2019

I’m doing this but not to save money as such. I’m hoping to put the money towards some more expensive treatments, working on the basis that £1000 of Botox and peels is likely to do more than £1000 of random stuff I buy on my lunch hour or at the airport because I’m bored and I can.

I'm in. Again. I think I've joined these threads several years in a row. To be fair though I have reduced my spending. My aim is to use up more of the lotions and potions I have. I am not going to manage a no spend year though as I no longer have a stash of deoderants or shampoo (moisturisers, soaps, shower gels, make up and body lotions are another matter).

I think part of the problem is I'm always searching for The Holy Grail (usually shampoo/condition) so I end with with loads of bottles, half empty ones in the bathroom cupboard .
I end up putting the bottles on the windowsill and telling everyone to use them up before Monday (our recycle day Grin )

This year , I will stick with Aveda Shampure and BodyShop Ginger if my scalp gets flakey and ignore everything else ..............once I use up all the bottles in the box.

I'm in. My weaknesses are moisturizers and shampoos. I have so much other random stuff that I never get through. In town today to pick up a few bits and bobs but then no spend 2019 is on!

I'm tentatively in.... I've joined these before but never stuck to it but I'm gonna try again!

I just want to try "one out, one in" at least. I think that's reasonable, just to stick to literally replacing things as they go, and only if you've no other item in your stash to use up first.

I have about 5 foundations, two powders, two bronzers, and an enormous Orgasm blusher that'll last me another few years. I also recently bought the Wet n Wild walking on eggshells quad which just might be the most perfect thing I've ever used and I am actually thinking of throwing out my Naked palette, which I haven't used in about 2 years. I also just bought a new Clinique eyeliner which I'm hoping will last 6 months. I have a dozen lipsticks I never use and two mascaras.

So I really don't need anything. The two mascaras are getting sticky so that will have to be my first replacement.

I got a ton of body lotion for Xmas, and plenty of moisturiser. I bought a night cream in Aldi this morning so that's me set for a while. I have an unopened sunscreen.

So I really really need to try a no buy January and then I'll start doing a "one out/one in".

I've bought a pair of shoes in the sales but they are to replace a pair that I'm about to throw out, so that's not too bad. But that's it! I don't need anything else!

I'm doing this. I've got SO MUCH makeup! Enough makeup to last all year and then some. So I definitely do not need makeup. I have about 3 bottles of Liz Earle cleanser so I'm sorted there too. I might need to top up on SPF and facial moisturiser. Definitely do not need any shower/bath stuff but will need shampoo and dry shampoo.

I must not buy

Face serum
Cleansers
Face moisturiser (day and night)
Shower gels/soaps
Make up (except bb cream when needed)
Facial oils
Clothes.
So hoping I can stick to this, it’s ridiculous the stuff I have on/in my dressing table and tops of chest of drawers.
