do you shave or wax genital area?

I hate shaving! it usually gives me an ugly rash after a day and I find it difficult because I have a longish labia on one side which gets in the way. Even if I pull it tight to one side I still can't get a smooth shave because the razor is too wide.. if that makes sense..

I'm considering waxing instead. Any of you girls do this? Any do's and don'ts and what product do you use etc.?

or do you just pay to get it done professionally?

oh and how long until the hair grows back?

thanks girls x

Or not hair remove?

I just leave it. Sometimes trim slightly.

I get mine waxed at the salon. Its around £20, takes about 15 minutes and regrowth time depdends - 8-10 weeks for me. The hair grows back much softer and doesnt itch.

Just leave it. It's, you know, normal.

I get a playboy wax every four weeks (that's everything off underneath and round the back, with just a little left at the front).

Wow tilltook this sounds encouraging!

Do they do the bum region? And if so, although this probably seems odd asking, do they turn you on your front or is the whole process on your back, legs apart?

On your back, legs apart and up for bum area.

OP didnt ask for opinions on whether she should or shouldnt remove pubic hair Hmm Some people dont like being hairy. I am one of them. OP probably is too.

At my place it's three positions:

flat on your back
knees up to chest
lie on your side with knees bent

I go about every two months. Love it. (not the process but the afterwards. Process isn't too bad, therapists chatter on and it's all over in 15 minutes)

I trim with a nose hair trimmer Blush

I like having hair there so don't want to get rid of it, but also do not want a wildebeest situation between my legs. So a light trim is a win-win.

So many people on mumsnet have this bee in their bonnet about women needing to have pubic hair because it's natural.... Well yes it is but so is a load of other things we change or adapt about ourselves so each to their own!

Personally I shave all of mine off because I prefer it that way. I use wilkinson razors as they're the only ones that don't irritate my skin and I use moisturising cream rather than shaving gel etc and that seems to work really well.

I agree. My parter hasn't asked me to do this but I just want to for myself and to see if he likes it because I'm sure I will!

I think I'll definitely get waxed because, ime, after the dreaded shaving rash quickly comes stubble so it's only nice in appearance and feel for one day!

Thanks for tips ladies

If you're shaving, use coconut oil. It gives a really smooth finish and no rash.

I get the lot waxed off every 5 weeks. That's how I like it.

I wax because in my natural state my pubes extend all the way down to my toes. I'm just hairy. It's entirely personal choice, and I'm not a fan of removing it all (it feels odd thinking of a grown woman with no pubic hair) but I like it tidy.

I tried waxing one armpit once and nearly vomited with pain before refusing to do the other. The results are lovely and smooth for such a long time it'd be worth it if I didn't have to nearly die during the process

I wax myself / occasionally get a salon to do it.

Can't even shave my legs as it flares up my eczema but waxing / epilating legs is ok.

Hmm
Isn't it a bit like sitting on a hedgehog when it starts regrowing?

I use combination of epilator and dry shaving - same gadget different heads. Life changer. I was wet shaving and getting the dreading itching regrowth thing within about 12 hours.

I've waxed in the past but epilating is so much easier, and free! I do round the sides and the top and whip the rest off apart from a token landing strip at the front with the shaving head.

It's not as smooth as wet shaving but I'm happy and wouldn't change.

Why would you do this 'for yourself'?
Isn't it itchy?
Does yourself require you to have the pubis of a child?

I'd be worried about ingrowing hairs. Have seen some horrific infected cysts as a result of I growing hairs in that area (at work, (healthcare) I haven't googled!) and it's really put me off any waxing.

You could try using a high grade mens facial moisturiser designed for post-shaving. Works a treat for me, and I've got a scrotum to work around.

Apart from sounding embarrassingly painful if done by a salon and a form of medieval torture with an epilator, not to mention risking razor rash/burn/nicks....just why would anyone want the pubes of a child?
Seems slightly weird to me.

I would do it for myself as it makes sex a lot more enjoyable.

I honestly couldn't bear the embarrassment of going to a salon. Really and truly.

Having a baby and a smear and whatnot I can just about cope with, because it's a medical person and there are actual reasons (like having a baby afterwards and, you know, not dying) but this "on your back, legs apart and up for bum area" makes me want to cry with shame!

How can you all do it?!
