Help, 4 months old DD keeps waking up every hour at night

Hi I am in need of some sleep. DD has just been waking up almost every hour at night. She was much better before as I could squeeze in maybe 2 -3 hours sleep but that's now all a distant memory. How can I get her to sleep more? Just let her cry herself to sleep if she wakes again immediately after a feed?#sleepdeprivedmum

Lots of sympathy- when ds had a cold (like last night) we get this again . We cosleep to get through it. Sleep depravation is just awful. He did just start sleeping longer. We tried shorter day time naps, longer day time naps, dream feed none of it made any noticeable difference Sad hope you can rest in the day

Don't feed her every hour. Pat her in the cot or cuddle her. I had one that did this - if passed. Don't panic

My DS just started sleeping badly a few weeks ago at the same age. We had a couple of awful nights, and then it settled down a bit. Then a few nights ago he decided he wasn't going to sleep if he didn't get cuddles. We had 3 awful nights, including one which I spent sleeping on the floor of his room because he wouldn't sleep otherwise!

On thinking about it, I suspect that it has partly been the fuss and hassle of Christmas/New year, and also that I've been eating badly (too much chocolate, tea etc), and passing it on via breast milk. Yesterday I cut out chocolate and caffeine, and spent as much time as possible cuddling with him, and his sleep was much better. Not back to normal, but waking every 2-2.5 hours and going back to sleep once fed.

I've been looking for sleep training methods, and there are plenty of options apart from letting him cry (I'm not prepared to do that). Google "baby sleep training" and you'll find some options.

Sounds like the four month sleep regression. No advice to offer as we're going through it too, but much sympathy - I'm told it will pass!
