11 weeks pregnant -cramping and discharge

I'm having mild cramping - not as severe as period pain but the same sort of cramp. I'm also getting some beige/brown discharge when I wipe. I saw the midwife for my booking-in appt last week and she said period-type pains were normal, but the cramp combined with the discharge is worrying me. Any advice?

Sorry I don't have any advice but am 5 weeks pg and have been having the same symptoms as you for the past 5 days now. At first I was really worried but discharge hasn't got any heavier (its quite light prob wouldnt notice it if i was wearing dark pants and not obsessed with checking all the time!) and cramping/twinges about the same so I'm hoping it's not a sign of anything being wrong. Haven't booked my mw appt yet so can't check it out with them. Fingers crossed things work out ok for us.

Anyone else had similar symptoms?

I would phone your MW for advice, just to be on the safe side in case it's an infection or something. Keep us posted!

You may have already sorted this, but I had the same thing at 7weeks. I called my GP in a frenzy, who booked me into the early pregnancy unit the next day for a scan, everything was fine, but it put my mind at rest. I would call your GP or midwife and get a scan.

I have been having some quite sharp pains on the left very low down. Quite scared. Not sure if it is bad or not! I am 6 weeks

The cramps are normal - signs of the uterus stretching - but I would get the discharge checked out with your midwife or GP.

It's definitely worth contacting your midwife or GP so you can get checked out at your EPU. They will probably offer you an early scan to check everything's OK.

Brown discharge might be from an infection or it may be old blood leaving your body.

I have had cramping, brown bleeding and discharge on and off since I was 7+2. I'm 14+1 now and it's been really scary and stressful. An early scan found a haematoma (blood clot) alongside the gestational sac, probably caused by the placenta attaching. I was told this would cause ongoing brown bleeding/discharge as the blood made its way out.

Bleeding in early pregnancy seems to be very common. Some women go on to have healthy babies, and for some it sadly doesn't work out. I have been one of the lucky ones. A scan today showed the haematoma is finally gone and my little baby is growing well.

Good luck with your pregnancy!

Thank you all for such helpful advice and support. I felt I should pop back to let you know that I miscarried later that night - cramping all day, lots of bleeding at midnight, D&C (ERPC) at about 9am the following day. We're terribly sad but I'm physically just about recovered despite some later health complications. I'm very grateful that you all popped up to help when I was worrying.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. No real advice but take care of yourself - not just physically but give yourself time emotionally too.
