Would you take time off work with round ligament pain?

I'm 23+5 with second pg and having bad lower abdominal pain - I experienced ligament pain with first pg but nothing like this. Went to see mw for some reassurance and she said is round ligament pain so nothing to worry about but advised two days off work to rest. I've done some internet research and it doesn't sound that serious and I feel like I'm taking the piss taking time off work for a common pregnancy niggle. Thoughts?

It depends on whether the job you do is going to aggravate it. I had a lot of pelvis pain at around the stage you are at now and was referred for physio, I was given a few simple exercises to do and they made the world of difference, just something to think about if it gets worse.

It depends if it is too painful to work, if it is going to cause you alot of discomfort then of course you should take time to rest.if it's only minor then maybe not but it really depends on the level of discomfort.

It doesn't matter what the 'title' of the pain is - if its bad enough to not work, then dont worry about what its called!

I didn't but I had a sedentary research job. (banned to do any lab work due to high risks for the baby).
I would say it depends on what you do and if you have to stand/ walk a lot and how you get there (i.e long commute or long walk would be out)

If the midwife says so you should

Thanks all - even though I have a sedentary job I decided that if the midwife said so I should. So I'm enjoying a day of tea, toast and rubbish telly!

I did during my last pregnancy. At around week 17 I took an entire week off work because the pain made walking/sitting very uncomfortable. I know maybe it sounds a bit lame, but pain is pain. :(

Exactly alpinepony - pain is pain, and varies from person to person, so if your round ligamnet pain is debilitating and making you very uncomfortable then do take time off, and don't feel guilty
