MN is positively FIZZING with lively, informative debate..........

Nowt like apathy in controlling the masses.

I checked the link. Sounded like a bit of a fuss over nothing really. "Activists, artists and students" are always plotting and scheming the downfall of something somewhere. This lot are said to be 'music making, sign-drawing, talking, eating....' scary stuff. BTW If you want a 'debate' try talking about something interesting & relevant... posting links to random (and rather badly written) articles is just lazy.

"Articles"?

We're living it.......

You're in Wall Street making music and painting signs? Good for you. Have a nice time

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 08:45

Ta. We are. And we're doing it for misguided types like you. Unless of course you, Cogito, are actually part of the corrupt, ruling power elite. Which I somehow doubt.

Hey... if you're going to waste time, New York is as nice a place as any to do it. No, I'm not one of the 'corrupt ruling power elite' (few too many adjectives there...) but one of the hard-working people who love their country enough a) to live here and b) to want it to do well... and don't feel the need to resort to 'painting signs and singing' in order to achieve that.

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 10:22

If we are wasting our time at least we're doing it spreading the love and feeling the love whereas you're wasting your time sat at home in dreary Dave's socially divided, mean spirited Little Engerland being embittered and dull. No brainer really innit CogitoErgoIKeepGettinItWrongDuh?

Give you a minute to shoot back with a barbed, embittered observation lacking in any depth, insight or humour. Then again I'll probably just get back to the revolution.

Sine MN was colonised by Cameron's lackeys it's become well dull.

Occupying Wall Street or any of the Squares in middle eastern countries recently deprived of their (mis)leaders is only effective if there is something to replace them with. Sitting around waiting to negotiate with a sightly nicer (for now) General isn't really going to cut it, sadly.

I've got a bit of a cold, so will have to leave the storming of the houses of our oppressors until later, I'm afraid.

If you are painting, can you do me a nice one of clown, crying? Cheers x

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 10:39

Sitting around??????????' No, that's what you're doing at home aliceliddell. And we've got plenty ideas to replace them with. Sorry that you haven't.

And I'd be at my tethersend too if I were you.

As I wrote previously MN has got well dull.

Oooh glasnost. Got out of the wrong side of your sleeping bag or something? Embittered and dull, am I? For someone sitting in the US to accuse Britain of being socially divided sounds a lot like the pot calling the kettle black. If that's your idea of 'spreading the love' you can keep it, sweetheart.

Come on... start a proper debate. You know.. .about real things that real people who might be posting on Mums Net (the clue is in the title) in the UK might be concerned about. Are you actually a parent?

HANG ON

Are you saying you won't paint me a crying clown?

NOW I'm furious.

Report
CogitoErgoSometimes · 25/09/2011 10:44

Me too tetheresend. So furious, in fact... I might get straight onto Twitter and hash-tag something grumpily adolescent, getting people to meet me in Leicester Square with clown-painting equipment to sing songs and moan a lot about grown-ups.

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 11:01

Are YOU a parent Cogito? As you seem to have alot of time on your hands to come on MN and spout reactionary shite. I don't live in the US but it's got more fighting spirit in it at present than dreary blighty which seems to have had any rebellious spirit knocked out of it by tedious apathetic bitter types like.........well. Go figure.

It's precisely because I'm a parent that I do this. Because I actually care about their future.

When I read posts from mums (eek!!yikes!!) such as Cogito, tethersend et al that recent UNICEF report on British kids rings so much more true.

CRYING CLOWN

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 11:11

tethersend has just done the equivalent of SHOUTING everybody. Look at him everybody. No, look at him. He's waving his arms around too.

Him?

How sexist.

CRYING CLOWN of indiscriminate gender!

CogitoErgoSometimes · 25/09/2011 11:30

'reactionary shite'? Oh yes, that's me.... I'm the one touting for mass revolutions, calling people names and saying that their children aren't cared about, aren't I?

So you're not actually in Wall Street painting signs then?

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 11:37

Oh that's exactly what you're doing Cogito. You're contributing to the neoliberal, casino capitalist revolution that noone bar a very few wanted but has been imposed on us. And your acerbic barbs are the sly equivalent of calling people names. And you implied my children weren't cared for as mummy's busy catalysing a revolution When all your tactics fail though you're also able to simply tell posters to "fuck off".

You can get back to disseminating your rightwing rabid propaganda. I'd suspected you may be longfingernails but she has so much more wit than you.

Look. Aren't we all in danger of losing sight of the real issue here?

Some of us are in dire need of a painting of a crying clown, but lack the means of production. What's to be done?

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 11:49

The means of production must be in the hands of the workers naturally. That way even a humourless deadbeat tethered to his own vacuous sarcasm post you can have his very own crying clown painting.

CogitoErgoSometimes · 25/09/2011 11:49

I'd make you one tethersend but apparently I'm too busy being rabid and promulgating neoliberal something or others.... Would a rough copy of the Singing Butler do you instead?

Sorry Cogito- I really wanted the crying clown. With a dove.

And I'd like the clown look bit like Karl Marx. And actually weeping, rather than just a single tear IYSWIM.

Surely someone can get me one? Don't I pay my taxes for this sort of thing?

Report
aliceliddell · 25/09/2011 12:40

Yes glasnost but I'm not at all sure that occupying Wall St and painting will achieve that. Tragically for those of us interested enough to do it, it seems to involve a lot of meetings about the Leninist model, federalism, new workers' party, republicanism etc. Which is sadly, what you need to decide before you control those pesky means. Oh, yes - I currently go to every meeting of my local anti cuts group and run a stall every Saturday and do an action approx once a fortnight. We do a bit of street art now and again if we have time Smile

Report
glasnost · 25/09/2011 14:25

Well done alice for your activism but not so well done on having fallen for the streotype used to deride movements such as ours as being happy clappy inconclusive affairs. The painting thing was latched on and has been flogged to death in a bid to ridicule a powerful movement. I personally can't stand street art and don't see many indulging in it.

I do see cops doing this though
