Revolution anyone?

Who are you?

Sigh. Will just haveto post that link again, huh?

www.occupymanchester.org/ ShinyDave might just get riled as coincides with start of Tory conference. (The morrow).

15 Oct London Stock Exchange will be occupied too. Get used to it. Will spread. Now wait for the sweaty Millbankers to get their inferior intellect on the case in a bid to marginalise it.

glasnost what's the overall plan? What's the next step?

glasnost · 01/10/2011 18:21

Overall plan is to use ONLY tool left to us to protest at this bank induced COUP: civil disobedience in a bid to stop these capitalist criminals and their political puppets in their tracks. They're 1%, we're 99%. Why are we letting them get away with this? Political representation's a joke as the mainstream parties are all in thrall to the same corporate interests so we're left with these radical forms of protest. The plan is that, for now. To be heard. To assert ourselves. To show them we exist. To hold our heads up. In the 17th century financial speculation was a CRIME punishable by hanging. Now these speculators have the globe by the gonads unless we act. Now.

That's what hasto happen between now and december. The next step will be determined on the extent of the protests.

15 Oct is a huge date. Will be a day of mass protests/demos around the globe.

15th, you say? I'll bear that in mind. I'm interested in your (correct imo) view of mainstream parties. We need a new one and a new system of accountable government. But how, I hear you ask? Well, no clear front runner on that as yet.

Napdamnyou · 02/10/2011 15:49

I think glasnost might get more people interested in it all if she was more friendly, rather than aggressive and rude. People power involves working with people in cooperative fashion, after all...

Napdamnyou · 02/10/2011 16:01

I expect I'll be called a bovine sheeple mouthpiece of the new world order for saying that.

Sigh.

< hands round cake and pavement chalk>

breadandbutterfly · 02/10/2011 16:50

I can see the appeal - some form of non-violent protest a la Gandhi. Please keep all violent anarchist nutters away though - do the bankers' job for them by making everyone who disagrees with the established order seem like some kind of extremist loon. A single broken window = an excuse for a Daily Mail headline on the evil 'mob'.

glasnost · 02/10/2011 17:19

"Violent anarchist nutters"?? That'll be the police who kettled protesters on the bridge yesterday and arrested 780 of them for no reason in contravention of the first amendment then?

And when the Daily sodding Mail dictates how people should/n't behave things are seriously skewed

OP posts:
breadandbutterfly · 02/10/2011 17:30

No - the police behaving wrongly does not excuse violence on the part of the protesters.

There is a reason why Ganhi is still revered so many years after his death (or more recently, Mandela). Because he did not let himself stoop to the standards of his oppressors.

glasnost · 02/10/2011 17:34

Errrr but nobody WAS violent yesterday or since the occupation began . Only violence has been police violence.

See you #OccupyLSX breadandbutter. It'll do you good. And will keep all us violent subversives(?) in line.

I'll be there in spirit, I promise glasnost. If anyone can promise to pay my bills, I might well be there in practice. As it is, I and my children have to eat. And my students to be taught.

Best of, anyway.

aliceliddell · 02/10/2011 19:50

Occupy Everything: 'US protests have explosive potential'

glasnost · 03/10/2011 20:58

Oh the politics of envy, swc!! I know it must be tough working for The Man and maintaining a modicum of humanity but that's still no excuse to presume we all have no money who oppose you. Some of us have values and a soul which is incentive enough to oppose you and all you stand for.

When I've got some spare time I'll give YOU a crash course in developing enough self awareness to grasp that some may oppose what you do on principle and not coz they want your cash.

P.S if we haven't got any money though it's probably your fault and the iniquitous economic system you serve!
