Anyone have the Graco newborn car seat base in the middle seat with a lap belt?

Just after anyone in the same situation before we go ahead and buy!

We've done the research, and it looks like the only car seats that work with a lap belt and a 3 point belt are from 9 months +. But we can't wait 9 months for a car trip...

We found that the Graco base works with a lap belt, so this could be our only answer, but every time we look at a video it only shows the 3 point system.

Anyone successfully have a newborn in the middle seat with a lap belt?

Thanks! Smile

Does the base not have a leg on it? Will the leg have space to reach the floor?

Doesn't sound right to me, I'm pretty sure newborn seats need three point securing. Can you get to somewhere that does proper fitting - John Lewis or mamas & papas are good.

If you've got three kids, wouldn't it be safest to put the eldest one in the middle?

I had a Chico NB car seat that had a lap belt base.

Thanks ALemonyPea - I'll do some research on the Chico seat Smile

dementedpixie - yes there's some sort of leg on the front which we're not sure is going to be good enough with the middle bit in the way (if that makes any sense!) as it won't reach the floor.

MintyBojingles - we did think of that, but I wouldn't really be happy with anyone being in the middle with just a lap belt (if it can be helped). I think we'll get down to a place that does proper fitting and can advise us, good shout.

Thanks! x

This is the one I meant. Comes with the base in the picture. If you have a big Mothercare store near you, worth going to look at.

Thank you so much! We're next to a big mothercare, so will go check it out on the weekend Smile
