Following on from the truly skint thread I bet there are lots of us with things we have that we would be prepared to send to those who are really struggling. I don't want to insult anyone by offering things but at the same time I want to help if I can. I have boys clothes and shoes up to age 5 and black school trousers age six. Pm me. Anyone else have anything

Do we not have the 'For Free' topic any more then?

Those who are in need, what is it you would really benefit from now clothes/shoes wise and roughly where do you live?

Randommess shoes seem to come up a lot. I have no idea how to move this and so am leaving it here for now. Might be more traffic too.

What's always difficult is that you want stuff to go to people who need it, rather than people who want it Biscuit

Same with freecycle I resist putting stuff on there like clothes etc because I'd rather it went to people who need than those who will just sell it on.

Wonder if the foodbanks will eventually do clothes and shoe banks, wonder if the health visitors would pass things on - but again they deal with specific parents rather than those that may just be stoney broke!

also having a sort out soon - will have boys clothes and "stuff" which I'll happily post in the UK

I'll be more specific when I have sorted it and know what's there :)

I recently took some baby clothes and equipment to my local Surestart Centre. Staff assured me that local families in need would benefit from it. Good to give back through them as I have accessed many free services there over the last few years.
Maybe try Surestart near you?

There is also freecycle for items ( not mn) that you could give to ppl in your local area, anything from a tennis raquet to a double bed ! it is a really good idea.

Here is the link to the main home page:-

Free cycle is a fantastic idea gone a bit wrong IMO. In my local area it is full of traders who take anything and sell it on eBay.

Ooh, how do I fing the For Free thread? We're just about to do a massive sort out and I'd really like to use it, if someone might find whatever we've got useful.

Find, not fing.
