The nasty old fluorescent light finally conked out tonight, so I just grabbed my bedside lamp, and put it on a shelf - looks gorgeous, like Nigellas Grin

All warm and cosy, I'm totally amazed, the lamp only cost me £9.99 from B&Q - its staying. It feels all like a posh house Grin

Sounds good. Enjoy Smile

I have very unreliable halogen lights that eat bulbs.

DH mutters, often, that a fluorescent strip light would be an improvement.

Oh, No it would not!!!!!

I have had a lamp on top of my fridge for a few years now... I love how cosy it looks on a winter night! Mines staying too! Grin

Good idea! Every time I watch Nigella on TV, I comment on the lighting in her kitchen!

We have a grand total of 33 blubs lighting our kitchen - under cabinet lights, tiny lights in the kickboards, lights in the cooker hood and lights in some glass fronted cabinets. It looks like a Christmas tree when you light them all (DH got a bit carried away putting them all in!) but I LOVE it on dark winter days, it makes me really happy.
