Thought I'd dust off the optics & open the bar for the festive period Xmas Smile

If any of the the old crowd are still around, then do pop in for a Christmas catch up & join me in toasting the end of the beginning!

Onward! To Brexit!

🍷 🥃 🍸 🍹 🍾 🥂 🍻 🍺 Gin

Anyone se Andrew Marr - don't think the SNP guy answered a single question - just made a complete fool of himself.

Now you've peaked my curiosity Corcory and I was trying to be good and stay away from the endless punditry for a wee while. Just checked to see who it was. Tbf I've never heard Ian Blackford ask a straight question let alone give a straight answer to one - mind he doesn't have an easy job given Nippy's recent various pronouncements on the Hard Border with England.

Report
Corcory · 10/12/2017 13:32

Yes she's talking c...... Howabout!!

As far as a hard border with England is concerned re Scottish independence. For a start Scotland would not be in the EU so rUK would not need to 'align' itself with Scotland! It would be up to nippy to try and persuade rUK to agree to a trade deal. So she would be on the back foot!
Scotland does not have any recent historical border 'problems' or a GFA to contend with so an entirely different proposition.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 10/12/2017 14:42

Nippy is an arse.

It was quite interesting to see her & a fair few of the more sanctimonious remoaners coming out of the woodwork last week.

Their 'Leavers just don't care about Ireland/NI like we do' schtick was well & truly shown to be a load of bollocks when they all started wailing about how it wasn't fair that NI may have been in line for special treatment.

Lots of outraged teeth gnashing going on...
(Chuka Umunna was exceptionally whiny 😫)

Report
Corcory · 10/12/2017 14:52

Nippy is too young to have really remembered the troubles. I lived in B'ham, London and N'castle when we had constant bomb scares. I remember the army training in our town as a child, with soldiers running and hiding down alleys as we walked to school! The thought that it would never end was very overwhelming and the enormous relief when the GFA was signed. People have forgotten what stress there was here never mind in NI.
She just can't compare the Irish border with that of Scotland/ England.

I think you might need the Brexit Arms to drown your sorrows rather than celebrate.

The whole thing is a fucking shambles.

TM threw away her majority and now it's all going to rat shit.

No one can seriously be happy with his fiasco.

It's the reason leaving was never a credible option IMO- we simply didn't and don't have a plan for it.

Report
time4chocolate · 13/12/2017 20:24

Well it was looking like a soft Brexit yesterday but the pendulum has swung more towards the possibility of a hard Brexit (WTO) or a hard Brexiteer in charge.

Politics sure is interesting at the moment Wink

InfiniteSheldon · 13/12/2017 20:29

I agree time4 interesting times indeed.

A Pyrrhic victory for those remainers who's greatest wish is to reverse Brexit.
They've pushed us closer towards the hardest of 'no deal' brexit with their 'point of principle'.

Oh well, let them have their moment & move on. Wine

Hard Brexit benefits very few. I think that would be more of a Pyrrhic victory.

Report
Bearbehind · 13/12/2017 20:42

Sorry, that made no sense!

A measured Brexit might have worked but now virtually no one wins.

All for the benefit of saying 'yay we've left'

Report
GhostofFrankGrimes · 13/12/2017 21:14

It'll be a pyrrhic victory when all the things Brexiteers hoped for, fail to materialise.
