I know there’s a lot of hearsay about another lockdown- but how can that be possible from an economic perspective? Don’t think the govt will do another furlough scheme. Is this a U turn now as health before jobs? Before a lot of people were saying how the govt didn’t care about people’s health as the economy was put first.

I find this all a bit confusing!

I think they might do local ones but not national. For one thing, half term is different in different parts of the country.

No socialising with other household is next. Limiting pub/ restaurant opening hours too probably. Not wholesale lockdown.

They need to break us properly through the winter so that come the new year they can offer a chink of light and - oh look, hope in a syringe!

It’s so blatant.

I think this week we will see no mixing of non family groups. Also I reckon all hospitality could be on an early closing time.
I don’t think we will see a return to full lockdown unless further into the winter Jan say when it may coincide with the usual flu peak.

Local lockdowns are utterly ridiculous for parents who HAVE to leave their house for work and have a network to help them.

I have to get childcare from DS to do my job and would continue as otherwise I cannot pay my bills or feed us.

Apparently one of the major causes of the spread in the north is "grass roots sport" so we do need to crack down on that. So technically swapping Sunday am footie for a walk would help. Bet they don't thoug cos footie is a majority male sport so we can't let the boyz go without.

My thoughts exactly OP.

I love walking. But the last six months have wrung the joy out walking for me. So so bored of our local walking options ...

Surely everything's not going to be shut down again. It's only just opened.

Mayve they're scaring us with major lockdown so their actual messures no longer seem so bad...

Probably best to at least prepare (mentally and practically) for a second lockdown, though would be disastrous.

Attempting some rallying cheer - All this thing needs is time and for people to wear masks and follow the rules. You know how fast time passes. Approximately five minutes until this is decades ago. Think how fast xmas keeps appearing. 1990 is 30 years ago, etc.

Its not a second lockdown I'm worried about to be honest. Thats easy in the wider scheme of things.

Its the fact there will be restrictions ongoing for the next six months thats much harder to deal with psychologically. It means we are only just at the half way point (if we are lucky). Having had a summer where we've been able to do something but its been nice after the earlier phase its been manageable. Being outside has kept me sane.

But the thought of long dark cold nights and nothing else. No bonfire night. No Christmas. No New Year. No nothing until the days start to get shorter again.

Thats grim. And wearing and harder to deal with.

The first part of this I could deal with as I knew where we were going and could read the numbers and had a fair idea of time scales with the summer not that far away.

This time around I feel much greater uncertainity. Much less feeling of knowing where its going. And a sense of forboding as the economic stuff is starting to kick in now too. It feels much much worst, and I fear things will be a lot worse.

We also have the implications of 1st Jan to factor in too.

Right now it feels like we've done the easy bit. Now it starts to get hard...

All the more reason I resent the passage of wasted precious time tbh.

I’ve quite possibly only got another 20 years - I’m old - this isn’t how I want to spend a precious year.
