Wow! Huge congratulations cleo . How are you feeling? I can understand your worries re miscarriage. I had my other two babies in my thirties, and suddenly being pregnant over 40 and I'm mega alert to all the 'risks'. I'm nearly 10 weeks now and moving on from the miscarriage worries to the possible chromosomal syndromes at the first scan. Keep reminding myself there's no point worrying about something you have no control over. What will be will be. Enjoy the feeling of finally getting that bfp! Hope everyone else is doing ok, and that the positive trend continues

Thanks sparkly, glad your pregnancy is goimg well! Funny how we get over one hurdle and are instantly faced with the next!
My friend who had a baby at 42 got a blood test at 10 weeks to check for chromasome problems, apparently it can tell gender too! They went privately for this test. If I can find out the name of it I'll let you know.
Currently not feeling to bad yet. Felt a bit hangovery when I woke up but that's fading now. Did another test this morning and it's getting darker thankfully. Hope you are feeling well!

Congratulations to all of you! I had a private blood test at 10 weeks with DD for chromosomes. It was called panorama. There is one called harmony they are pretty much the same. It was so worth doing even though it was costly. It gives you a definite answer not like the nhs tests which I think just gives you a 1 in ** probability. Also you can find out so early.

Oh and yes it told us she was a girl at 10 weeks. Amazing.

I had harmony test done at 10 weeks and also found out the gender. So worth it! I have heard they're starting to do these on nhs or maybe they will be doing them soon but not sure if it's everywhere in the UK and for all women or only some depending on the situation but worth asking to find out.

Well I was made to feel a bit of a tit today getting my progesterone test. Nurse reminded me that it is completely unhelpful and a bit pointless. Thanks for that!

Thats the problem. When I was pregnant my ob-gyn back home gave me extra progesterone to prevent a mc but when I ran out and tried to get it in the UK my gp looked at me as if I had 2 heads and I didn't manage to get it privately either but I think I read somewhere you can so maybe I just went to a wrong place.

The nurse wasn't even aware that anything could be done about low progesterone. Really odd!

Cleo my gp wasn't aware if it either! From what I gathered it's not common practice to do anything here in the UK. My ob-gyn said the same thing about Norway, he had a patient who lived there and had 3 mc and they still didn't do anything until she went to him, he gave her what he gave me and she carried her next pregnancy to term and had a healthy boy.

Orchid seems bonkers when it's potentially so helpful to so many! Now concerned that if I do have low prog they won't do anything anyway.
No hcg test dome unfortunately. The attitude is always very 'wait and see what happens'.....

I know it is bonkers. Don't worry yet Cleo hopefully with the TCM your prog is fine. If not worst case you can fly and see my ob-gyn and ask him for some 😀

I certainly hope I won't need the clinic by May. Need TCM to start working too because I'll need to stop it fairly soon. It's so ridiculously expensive. I think I managed to find the most expensive place in the UK 😭shame you're so far away Cleo if you were closer I'd move to your practitioner.

We considered having the non invasive prenatal test at ten weeks, but just really can't justify the cost at the mo having just spent a fortune doing up our house. So we'll go for the combined screening at 12 week scan, and if that result comes back as high risk then we'll find the money for the test for a more definitive answer. Some trusts are starting to offer this test to ladies who get a high risk screening result, but no ours unfortunately. I did manage to pick up the heartbeat on the Doppler yesterday which was lovely 😊. But trying to keep a little detachment until the scan, and not get excited.......not easy! Also, just to add a little more hope, my colleague who's 42 just got pregnant first month or two of trying!!

Orchid - I hope your TCM works too, with the amount you have paid!! Everything is more expensive in London unfortunately. Has your place got a good reputation?
Wow sparkly that must have been exciting to hear the heartbeat!! I so hope I get to that stage, I'm trying not to think too far ahead at the moment as I know the risks are high at this stage. I think I will deffo get the test at 10 weeks, as we were planning on spending that much or more on fertility tests & treatment next month anyway!

I just left my Chinese clinic
and try said one of their patients who had her 1st baby at 45 just found out she's pregnant again- she'll be 47 in July! So anything's possible.

Whose is the TCM practitioner with the really high success rate? Is it yours Orchid or Cleo’s?

Orchid, yours is near Surbiton and Cleo, yours is in Cambridge right?

My friend was given progesterone suppositories following her IVF transfer (here in UK).

Mine says she has a high success rate I think about 75% if I remember correctly and yes she's in surbiton. I also do acupuncture and moxibustion on top of herbs.

I'm not sure of success rate of mine, but thet are small family run and have a great reputation, they treat other ailments too. Yes Ali mine is in Cambridge. I did acupuncture and herbs
