Freak Out Room For Those Newly Updiffed After M/C Part VIII

Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.

10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

So we needed a new thread and although I was kind of hoping to be spending more time over on the grads thread in the very near future, I didn't want the thread to be inactive for those in need and in current state of mentalling!

I'll now have a bash at the list that I ballsed up yesterday. Then it's over to someone else who can count on their fingers better than me!

Saw the cons yest, no scan which was strange given the machine was there and switched on (no idea why I didn't just ask for a sneak peak!) but we heard the hb straight away and also heard a kick which was fab! Looks like I have an infection but I'm told it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks for making the new thread scooby - Let's hope it's a lucky one for us all!

Just wanted to update my 20 week scan, and also share with you all that I am feeling regular movements and "squirms" since yesterday! I think I am finally accepting the good things this pregnancy will bring for me! My 20 week scan is in the same week as my EDD for my daughter I lost in January. Although it is sometimes hard to accept, life really does go on doesn't it?

Also a big welcome to all the new ladies!

Hello everyone and congrats on all the new BFP's Grin great news

twittwooo I know what you mean and I guess nothing can really make you relax except time moving on..uneventfully hopefully Smile

LAF77 I am the same as you in that this time just feels different but I don't wanna get carried away and set myself up for an even bigger upset - DH says I'll be as just upset if the worst happens whether I feel positive now or not so should just be happy that I'm feeling better about it at the mo Smile

My scan is now only a few days away so even though feeling quite positive (MS has kicked in which I didn't get last time, crying all the time, mahoosive boobs (well compared to normal tiny ones!) and v tired) I can feel the stress building up. Am so scared about having a scan as had MMC last time which was only discovered at a scan, just want to get there and hear good news!

twittoo my scan will be at 6+3. I only have this because of ST Marys care. I don't think my local EPU would see me so early.

shellshocked I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking like I do. I want to be happy.

milky I'm glad you are feeling better about the pg. Tomorrow is the due date for my third mc and it is confusing emotionally when you have a pg to contend with at the time. A friend on Facebook has been posting pg pictures and started a dialogue about going to the hospital to give birth. It should have been my experience too.

Gotta catch my cab to start the 16 hour journey home!

Oh thanks Scooby those of us who are still in the earlier stages definitely still need the thread! Hopefully at some point more of us will move onto the grads threads at some point too but it's great to have somewhere we can freak out Grin Great news about hearing the heartbeat! How wonderful that must be.

Gosh Milky that is amazing with your scan date being on the previous due date. Quite serendipitous really. My DH works in counselling and mental health and would definitely say something positive about the timing, about being able to replace bad experiences with good.

What week scan is this Shellshock? What day is it? Glad, in the nicest possible way, you are having symptoms. I feel a bit odd not having any! I completely am with you about scan fears.

I have what might been a 6 week one on Monday and I am worried that a) it might not be in the right place and b) my stupid body might have started to attack it already despite the huge cocktail of immune suppressing drugs am necking.

LAF what day is your scan at St Mary's? With mine on Monday and Shell's imminent too we will have to do some hand holding. Hello to Freezing and everyone else too! xx

Hi freelance I will be 8+4 on Sunday when we have the scan....we are paying for private as my local EPU would only do an early reassurance scan OR the 12 week scan and we defo wanted to keep the 12 week scan as well. I had MMC at 10 weeks but the baby stopped developing at 8 so thought this would be the best time to have the earlier scan.

Yes defo mutual hand holding required Smile as I've said before, I have really surprised myself with how positive I have been but can feel the stress ramping up as we get closer to Sunday, would love a few Wine to take the edge off Grin

It's lovely to 'meet' you all, and good luck to those of you waiting for your scans. I hope everything goes well for you.

I'm panicking a bit about lack of symptoms at the moment! By my own calculations, I'm about 5 weeks and have had no morning sickness at all. I've been tired and thirsty but generally feeling well. Last night and today I've had groin pain in my left side - has anyone else had this? It's painful if I move in a certain way and sometimes when I'm walking. I also woke up this morning to a feeling that my boobs had deflated somewhat and my tummy didn't feel as bloated as yesterday. So I can't help but feel a little worried and I guess I'm looking for some reassurance!

I've been holding off going to see the doctor but thinking of maybe trying for an appointment tomorrow. Otherwise it will have to wait until next Thursday or after. What do you all think?

I'm also thinking of getting the Sanatogen 'Mum to Be' vitamins. Up until now I've been taking Folic Acid and Vitamin D, but nothing more.

Sorry for the ramble, I know I'm terrible and my very patient husband usually gets the worst of it! Any advice or reassurance would be very much appreciated.

Thank you. xx

Welcome and congratulation to all the newbies, was feeling a bit lonely at the end of the list there so nice to see some new faces

twittoo my bloating is always deflated in the morning but just inflates throughout the day til I swear when I inject at night I think I might pop like a balloon. My sickness has been very off and on but really starting to heat up now (am 8+2), was quite unwell last night waiting for flight home and then spent the flight petrified I would hurl over everyone so didn?t sleep. I don?t actually vomit that much but just have a general acidic feeling constantly in my throat. I haven?t had any groin pain but lots of general stretchy pains which as everyone reassures me are perfectly normal. My boobs are a bit sore and achy but I (or DH) can?t see any change in size. They are covered in blue veins which I do find quite fascinating
I?m just on folic acid with my vitamins at the moment
I still haven?t been to the doc but booked to go next week, I found the appointment last time so blah that I?m not in a hurry for it this time. Not sure if any of that reassures or helps but I know how you feel about DH getting the worst of it all the time!

Shellshock yay for scan. I?m too scared to have one still as if I don?t then can just live in my little bubble that everything is going swimmingly in there. Am sure that will change in the next couple of weeks but I?m also going to go private for the early one if I have it so figure I can just book last minute so I won?t have time to stress before.
I do like what your dh says about being just as upset if the worst happens whether you feel positive now or not, these are definitely the things I have to keep reminding myself

Purple I can?t wait to tell my parents , going to try to hold out til when they come visit at the end of August but not sure I?ll be able to contain if I scan before then

LAF I think men just say things to protect themselves sometimes, although my DH is very supportive he has been very cautious and not very positive about this pg until now really. Good for you for being happy and you definitely do deserve it,

Sorry for not name checking all, first day back and manic at work so didn?t get a chance to read back on the previous thread properly < passes around turkish delight as peace offering>

Twoo I am feeling exactly the same! I'm about 5.3 weeks probably and have had no morning sickness at all. I've been tired and am eating for England though. AND I have groin pain!! A bit of hip pain too. I haven't heard anyone else have it until later in pregnancy. I worry that it is 'echoes' of the feelings I had when I was miscarrying. My boobs are normal and am quite a bit bloated but then I am on hard core steroids to try dampen the immune system.

Stitch I don't have veins on my boobs but I have noticed the veins on my hands are more prominent than normal! Anyone else getting that...?

Shell Good luck for your scan on Sunday. Hopefully at this stage they will be able to show you a nice clear picture of a healthy growing baby. Mine on Monday I might not see anything - good, bad or indifferent. Oh god, doesn't time pass so slowly on the way up to such events! Am terrified.

Well done for telling your parents Purple. I am at home with mine this week too and I told them the day I got the BFP last tues. They know the situation and I just said, look - don't get excited as this might not be happening but....

Morning! Sorry I've not been around much, having a very busy and stressful time. At home and at work! I've counted that I have 19 weeks until ml Grin

twoo hello, and congratulations. I'm sorry most places won't scan after "just" one mc. I had a mmc in Jan, mc in Mar and got my bfp 27 days after my mc. It's very scary, but I'm 18 weeks now. My epu scanned me at 6 weeks as my symptoms vanished, and bug was there all present and correct with a pounding hb (disclaimer: you can't always see the hb this early, I was lucky!!!). Then my symptoms came flooding back with a vengeance. I still can't brush my teeth with minty toothpaste without throwing up, and I still have the odd sicky moment.

doo I'm also sleeping really badly too! Not helped by dh training for his fight so getting up to go to gym at 5.30 and then doesn't get home from gym (with work etc inbetween Grin) until 10ish when I'm in bed. I'm thinking of getting a maternity pillow. I know Collie & Lara bought the dream genii, but I saw a big long v-shaped one filled with micro beads in a mag. Might get one of those. Anything for a good sleep! How are you doing otherwise? Was asking the mw if I'd get a nice early sweep given the close proximity of edd to Christmas and got a big fat no!

shell I think it's natural lovely, I know I did. Look after yourself x

All fine here apart for bp is raised again so mw is seeing me at 25 weeks rather than 28. That's when they start thinking about pe rather than preg induced hypertension. I'm not too worried tbh, I had this with dd and it all calmed down by the third trimester. Also found out that I have no immunity to Rubella now! That freaked me out yesterday, but posted in Preg and feel better after reading the replies.

Morning everyone! It's great to hear your stories, I hope everyone is getting on well.

I still don't have many symptoms but yesterday I felt very hot, sweaty and light headed after getting out of the shower and had to sit down for a while - I couldn't even stand up to brush my teeth without feeling odd. Could this be the beginnings of morning sickness? I didn't actually feel sick, just very weak.

I did another HPT today and got a very dark line, so fingers crossed all is well.

Freelance - the veins in my hands are fairly prominent now you mention it, but I'm not sure if they are always like that!

xx

Harassed hope your bp is OK, nice you are getting seen a bit earlier though, def hope it?s not a pe ? I had one and it was not fun

shellshock basically am going to go as long as I can last before I scan, off to the GP Monday to start the ball rolling for my referral to the hospital. Another reason I want to go as long as possible is I would prefer an external scan and hoping if i leave it till after about 10 weeks that will work ok. But don't be surprised if I book myself in next week Wink
Where are you going for your private scan? Totally agree about the comfy pants, I am so tempted to undo my top button but at work so no option today. Hope you aren?t worrying too much.

twittoo I do get light headed in the shower in the mornings esp if I stay in too long, had this from early on and was one of the first symptoms for me. Yay for the line getting darker :o

doo sorry you had a bad night too, is hard when you are so tired you just have to nap but then you can?t sleep when you should. DH hates it as if I?m awake I think he should be too!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying the glimpses of sunshine today.

Hey harassed, I bought the dream geni too the other week! I had a week of glorious sleep and felt a million dollars for it, but last night I think the early napping ruined it and then the neighbours were being really noisy too. I like the DG, I did look at another one that looked a bit nicer visually, but I plumped for the DG in the end. Think I might be on a growth spurt or something as I feel really lethargic this wk.
You're gonna have to hold my hand nearer the time what with you having DC already, I'm sure i'll need some experience and wisdom as I'm clueless! I'm an Xmas eve kid myself so I'd also love to sneak in a nice happy ending before Christmas! I lurked on the dec forum and they were talking about when they were feeling movements. Feel very lucky on that front as Ive been getting them daily from 16.5wks, although typically I did then manage to turn
thst fact into a worry that perhaps bub is distressed and therefore moving alot so early!!! What an idiot I am!

stitch -the internal/external scan thing seems really inconsistent. With my 2nd mc I paid for a private scan at 8wks and they wanted to do fanjocam, but this time at the rmc I had scans at 7,8,10,12 and all external with a good view of bub. I reckon by 10 external will be the norm though like you say. I hope the time flies by until then x

LAF I hope you were okay yesterday. Thinking of you.

freelance My counsellor said a very similar thing to me about the EDD and the scan too. I know it will definitely help me deal with it better if things work out fine. Then, my pessimistic side tells me if I lose this baby then that will be double the pain, but hopefully that won't happen.

purpletoes Well done on telling your parents. I still haven't told any family, and am actively avoiding any meet ups because I just feel afraid and apprehensive. Hopefully by 20 weeks I will build up the courage!

twittwoo I had the same kind of pains in early pregnancy too. It is ligament pain from your uterus stretching and things moving about. Mine used to hurt if I sat a particular way for too long, or if I turned over in bed a weird way. Hard as it is, try to stay positive!

I'm having big problems sleeping too. My eyes open at 3am every morning and the horrible nightmares I've been having aren't helping either. I had the most horrifying nightmare last night which has left me shaken and really sad today. I hope they stop.

Waves to everyone, good luck in the upcoming scans and hope you're all well!

Hi milkyway I had a disastrous trip home. The airport in ATL closed due to a thunderstorm and I missed my connecting flight. I had to hang around the airport for 5 hours. I wasn't happy. I tried to fanangle an upgrade, telling a bit of a porky pie, that I was 8 weeks pregnant (I'm not even 5, although sometimes I'm so bloated, I could pass for further along). I got to have an exit row seat which was better than stuck in the middle for 8+ hours. The airline didn't give me anything. I've written a big complaint letter.

I've made an appointment to have my Vitamin D levels checked on Tuesday. I'm not sure if my local surgery can take the bloods or if I have to go to the hospital. We'll see. Hopefully, it won't be too late.

My boobs are feeling even more sore to the touch and I dry heaved again this morning, yay! I'm remembering the due date of my third baby today. She is with me in my thoughts every single day.

Just wanted to pop my head in and say thank you to everyone for the lovely welcome!

twoo I am about 5.4 weeks and the only symptoms I've got are extreme tiredness and sore achy boobs! I had sickeness with my DD and my last pg so I'm getting a little concerned but I think last time my sickness kicked in at around 6 weeks.

Was just wondering if any of you who are further along had bad period type cramps in the early stages? I can't remember getting it quite like this and some days when it kicks in I really think it's game over :-(

collie & cep how you guys are getting on? I still can't quite believe I'm pg especially as I've found out I'm pg the same month my baby should have been born! Almost seems a bit surreal!
