Hi all - we've very nearly exhausted the 1,000 post limit on our previous thread so here is the new one.

Looking forward to continuing to share the ups, downs, symptoms, queries, worries and joy (fingers tightly crossed!)

Glad I found you all, there has been such a mass of new posts since I joined yesterday. Woke to a massive mountain of post this morning with preg literature and 3 separate appointment cards for 3 seperate midwife apppointments, 2 of which are in the same week so a mistake has been made somewhere. Ah well, new GP surgery seems to be a lot more organised than the one I used in my previous pg- wasn't expecting any appointments for a month or 2 at least.

Hi wonnaywom

Still feeling very wobbly. I am pleased to have a scan arranged for next Thurs but very worried that there will be nothing there. I was speaking to my other half last night persuading him to come too and he said that if the pregnancy hasn't progressed he won't be so upset this time cos he has thought about it less and it doesn't seem real to him.
I was quite upset because although I've only known for 2 weeks it is very real to me, I can't help imagining and planning.

So really looking forward to and dreading the scan at the same time if it makes sense?

And it's awful not being able to talk to my friends about it cos I really don't want to tell them this time. I know they would try to be reassuring but nobody can tell at this point which is so frustrating.

Still no symptoms......

wonnaywombat · 21/10/2010 11:15

crumbletastic - maybe take both appointments in case it's different midwives and you prefer one to another! Wink

yellowtom - I can fully understand your apprehension about the scan (I had v bad sleep before yesterdays) and also about telling / not telling your friends. I'm sure after last time they would be super sensitive and reassuring. However, I can't talk as I don't want to say anything to anyone until that magic 12 weeks (fingers crossed...)

I was reading in "what to expect" last night that no symptoms is one of the biggest causes of worry and affects up to 1 in 3 during early weeks. Re: your OH, everyone has different ways of dealing with the ups and downs and what works for one, won't work for another. (I hope he does go with you though) x

Thank you wonnay for your words of reassurance, it's nice to feel understood.

I think friends would be sensitive but they haven't been through this so can't properly understand I don't think.

He did say he would come but without much enthusiasm. i think he is just trying to protect himself but I just don't see how that is truly possible. I am trying to be realistic but I can't help feeling a bit hopeful....in between the bouts of despair!

Roll on 12 weeks! Or even next week Grin

yellowtomato I know what you mean. My DH is similar this time around - last time he got excited and then was crushed when it didn't work out. This time he says it doesn't feel real.

After a couple of arsey conversations we have decided to just accept that we feel how we feel. If we're happy, sad, excited, scared, nonplussed, or whatever, there's nothing either of us can really do about it. That makes it much easier since no-one puts pressure on anyone else to feel a certain way. Easier said than done when I text him that my boobs have stopped hurting and he doesn't reply because he thinks we've 'covered that' in an earlier conversation Biscuit! But worth it!

I want porn star boobs like nmcb. Mine were a B and are a B. DH says they're bigger, but that's the only symptom he thinks is there, and I think it's all in his (pervy) head [hgrin]

Hello all and thanks wonnay for starting a new thread.........
I have to say that i dont really have any symptoms and i am persuading myself that this is good. Why do you want to be feeling ill and queasy when you can just be getting on and growing the little bean.....remember everyones bodies are different and react to hormones very differently. Wonnay is right about your OH, it is his way of coping with the grief and he is self protecting at the minute, it doesnt mean he doesnt care or want this baby as much as you, he is just trying to protect himself just in case.......i am sure he will go with you for the scan.
How many weeks are you now yellowtom.....i think im 6+5 today and have first midwife appointment tomorrow

TTL you dont want pornstar boobs.....i am usually a 32F and i said to mom yesterday that i need to go and get new bras. She advised just the one - wash and wear, as they will change so much over the coming weeks. I usually go to bravissimo but they aren't cheap. I am having to sleep in a vest at the minute as if they are let loose they are painful and a complete nogo area mush to my DH disppointment

Have booked my booking in appt with the midwife. Am feeling quite pleased with myself as it makes it quite real.

Reading about everyone having scans soon amkes me realise just how far along I'm not yet though! Grin

It's hard work keeping up with all the posts, so sore boob friendly hugs to those feeling down/ill/Confused etc and lemon meringue pie for those who can manage it. [hgrin]

moomin - I'm a huge bravissimo fan and usually buy about 5 each time I'm back in the UK - you just can't get the same choice here.

Just marking my place on the new thread!! Smile

takethatlady it seems to be those who have large norks in the first place who get even bigger during pregnancy! So unfair [henvy]!!! I'm a B like you, and did eventually go up to about a D while feeding - trouble is you then have to swap your cleavage-enhancing padded wonderbras for non-wired soft feeding bras, so they look the same size to everybody else anyway!

To those asking about moses baskets, cots etc., I had a bedside cot, but a normal cot with one side taken off would be just as good. It was brilliant - so easy for night feeds and midnight cuddles and none of the worries that you get with co-sleeping. DS and I even used to go to sleep holding hands! I would recommend using baby sleeping bags instead of blankets though, then baby can sleep at the top of the cot next to your face rather than down the bottom near your....erm....bottom!

It's down to personal taste, but I just couldn't stomach all the frilliness and broderie-anglaise frippery that seems to come with most moses baskets. Anyway, we've got another 7 or 8 months to discuss the merits of baby equipment!

Hope everybody is feeling well (or slightly sick, if that makes you happier iyswim) today!

[hgrin] - that's my evil cake face. I spend to much time in my head worrying about sticky bean unsticking, so if I can lighten the load with a bit of cake loving, then it's all good (until I start throwing up anyway)

TTL unfortunately pg porn star boobs aren't very good. First they're to sore to touch, then bump makes them look tiny again, then they just leak milk EVERYWHERE!

Hi all, hope all are well today. My PG symptoms seem to have abated today, which, of course, is causing me all manner of worry, no matter how much I tell myself this is normal. The only one that seems to have stuck around is a love of all things sugary, which seems to be a common one reading the last few posts Smile.

I tested again this morning, and my line is still pretty faint, so of course this is adding extra panic. Please someone tell me that this is normal, and doesn't mean I'm doomed Sad. I am 5 weeks or so according to the doctors, although I know pretty much when I conceived and would say I'm more like 4 weeks, should I still only be getting faint lines?

To all those asking about Moses baskets etc., we kept our Moses basket downstairs and bought a crib for in our bedroom, which slotted in next to my side of the bed nicely, where DS1 stayed with us until he was 5 months old. It was a lovely wooden rocking one from John Lewis, and a lot cosier than a cot for a tiny baby. We couldn't co-sleep as my partner "didn't manage" Hmm to give up smoking, but having him really close to me although not in bed was lovely.

Really envious of all those going for scans soon, I had a scan at 8 weeks last time as had a bout of bleeding, and would love to again this time, but our ds is a money-pit and we're too skint Sad.

Mmmm cake. Cake is sticky and sticky is good nomore.

I DO want porn star boobs! Grin Maybe I'd like them for about ten minutes (pre-bump and pre-milk, and while the soreness is still only ebbing and flowing and not too bad Wink). But just for once I'd like boobs that have built-in chicken fillets instead of requiring artificial ones.

Mmmmm..... chicken fillets ....

8rubberduckies I'm sure symptoms come and go. Everybody says that. If you're only 4 weeks it's fine for the line to be faint. When did you get your first BFP?

I wish I had any type of cravings, everything makes me feel sick. I had to go to the local shop to buy some lunch as going into the kitchen makes me sick! Just managed to eat a can of heinz raveolli of all things. I must hide the evidence before my DSC's find it!

Yellotomato I really know how you're feeling. It's so hard to relax when you're terrified something will go wrong. The fact that I'm having weekly scans for the time being is very reassuring for me but I'm still feeling very nervous about my scan tomorrow. Especially as I've beeen having a few stomach cramps. I can also really relate to how your husband's feeling too. I'm refusing to even think about actually having a baby, just getting through every day being pregnant, if that makes any sense at all. I can see why he doesn't want to go to the scan (although it's very important for both of you that he does) If I had any kind of choice I'd send DP on his own! He'll be just as happy as you when he sees everything's going well.

I think that pregnancy symptoms can completely vary. When I was at college a friend of mine didn't realise she was pregnant for 5 months as she had no symptoms at all.

TakeThatLady, my first BFP was Monday, which, according to Fertility Friend, was 16dpo. I have used mostly internet cheapies, and a couple of Tesco's own, but the difference in strength of line is negligible.

Well apparently now I'm utter in love with onion (cooked). This happened with DS too, so that lemon meringue for lunch must have been sticky enough (I'm a fat fatty!).

Mmmm onion...
