AIBU?

Fell down the toilet AGAIN

DH is home sick and is getting RIGHT under my feet!?
He does annoying habits things ( as he points out, I do too) but I like to think none of my “habits “ actually cause injury to anyone or the home

I’ve asked him repeatedly, to stop urinating with the toilet seat up, as obviously it’s gross and I sit in it.
He’s a bit of a germaphobe and touching the seat probably gives him the heebeejeebies but this is not reasonable

He argued to the death ,yesterday ‘twas not him that had peed on the seat and he’d “wiped “ it afterwards.Angry

So he’s now lifting the seat, but not putting it bacj down!

TWICE today, I have fell down the loo!
I’m looking after a little baby , and generally running around bananas and a pee is not a luxury! It’s a quick in/out procedure!
So I fell down it this morning and shouted and then the NEXT time I was shouting insert expletives

I know I’m not BU just a moan, really
Surely men should put it back down after? Is this equal rights now? He’s lifts and I close? Sharing is caring ?

My DH sits down so this is never a problem in our house, thank god.

You need to whip his ass until it becomes natural!

That might not help with sitting down...

It's pretty obvious when it's up...

The 2 minutes that it takes to go into the toilet and do an pee surely doesn't need too be a rush job even with a baby, it's minutes they will be fine

Check before you sit, not something I would get worked up over

So annoying. With my DH it’s skiddies. I just march him into the bog when I find them and make him clean them off once he’s dropped his guts 😡 💩

If he's putting it down for you, are you lifting it up for him? Same difference if you ask me.

Just make it a new rule to always shut the lid. That's our rule and it's nice to always have a closed loo.

He can sit down to pee or close the toilet. It's awful to land on the loo with no seat Angry

Be patient. If you really care that much then keep reminding him gently, but it's difficult to change habits. In the meantime, at least you are both required to check the seat status before peeing and adjust as necessary. So equals?

There was a really funny episode of South Park on this subject.

You should both always close the lid to flush, the germs spray for a couple of meters. Then you are both lifting and lowering each time, just he does two and you do one.

You both need to close the lid

Also this. Struggled and failed to find a good way to put this.

I have no idea whether YABU or not, but I read something in there about a banana and pea puree - needless to say I also have a baby in the house....

Everyone should close the lid. Problem solved!

Tell the germaphobe he is spraying piss all over his toothbrushes

You should both be automatically shutting the lid to prevent expelling excrement laced aerated water into your bathroom/en-suite/cloak room every time you flush. It's my pet hate going into a bathroom and finding the lid up.

When you do this you never have the seat up down argument as everyone has to put it back in the same position so it's fair all round.

The rule in our house is lid closed when you're done, so this wouldn't be a problem. More hygienic for flushing too.

Why does the seat being up make you fall down the toilet?

And why don't you look before you sit down?

Report
Purpleberet · 07/01/2022 21:58

As above, always close the lid before you flush!!! I hate it when people flush with the lid open Shock

Report
givemepiece · 07/01/2022 21:58

Keep your eyes open when you're walking toward the loo and then you'll see if the seat is up or not Smile

Toilet lid should always be down when you flush anyway..otherwise it sprays everywhere

He can't be much of a germaphobe if he's flushing with lid open!

Report
WonderfulYou · 07/01/2022 22:00

I voted YABU as you can just put it down quite easily.

However you should always close the lid when flushing anyway as germs fly about - if he’s a germaphobe he should know this!

Have a new rule - everyone puts down the seat AND lid before flushing.

We have shut toilet lids in our house since I watched Kim and Aggie talking about debris flying out of the toilet when it is flushed.
