I’m wondering where DC and I fit on the spectrum, just out of interest.

I receive £300 per month for one DC.
He lives 100 miles away and does no childcare at all, so that pays for breakfast/ after school clubs, holiday clubs and a bit towards her hobbies.

I’m very, very glad to be in my current position and not still married, so I’m not moaning at all, and also, I earn more than him so I don’t need more, but a £300 contribution to our DC seems low.

Never got a penny. 3 kids.

Sailingthroughtheweek · 02/07/2021 12:09

Gosh, longest. That’s awful.

fairgame84 · 02/07/2021 12:10

Nothing.
I used to get £40 per week but it stopped years ago and he moved abroad.

Cms used to say you're supposed to get 15% of the nrp wage.

PumpkinKlNG · 02/07/2021 12:10

0 for 4 kids. He doesn’t see them either at all.

Tangledtresses · 02/07/2021 12:11

It really depends on how much they earn.... And other children he has?

Some my friends get alot! And some get £25 a week!?

trevthecat · 02/07/2021 12:12

2 kids, no contact. He is meant to pay £350 but he rarely pays the full amount. CMS are crap at enforcing payment

Sailingthroughtheweek · 02/07/2021 12:13

The reason I started thinking about this topic, is because one friend told me she gets £1800 per month (2 DC) and I know another gets 1000 for one DC. The disparity is unbelievable, isn’t it.

OP posts:
Longestfewdaysupcoming · 02/07/2021 12:13

Well no, because it’s based on the earnings of the NRP.

Sailingthroughtheweek · 02/07/2021 12:15

Unbelievable in the sense that some people pay nothing towards their DC.

WildflowerWildfire · 02/07/2021 12:15

I get £300 for one child too. Compared to some of my friends I think this is quite high unfortunately.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/07/2021 12:17

When I was getting cm for my 2 dds, he paid something like 240 a month.

ChampagneWorries · 02/07/2021 12:18

If one of your friends is getting £1800 a month then its court ordered or a private arrangement between themselves.

CMS can take a max of £1400 a month regardless of if the father earns 1 million a month.

WantingToWonder · 02/07/2021 12:19

Nothing. He hasn't seen his son for 5 years and we believe he is now living in another country.

Viviennemary · 02/07/2021 12:20

I've always thought it was very unfair that child maintenance isn't taken into account for benefits. It has never affected me just to clarify. But somebody getting 1800k a month maintenance and another getting nothing or £25 a week and they get the same state benefit top ups. How can that be right.

Youdiditanyway · 02/07/2021 12:21

My friend gets £270 a month for 3 kids, he never has them overnight. Acts like he’s doing her a massive favour when he sends it too. Dickhead.

Phillipa12 · 02/07/2021 12:22

Its supposed to be a % of the NRPs wage. I get a substantial amount because my ex is a high earner, does not hide his earnings and is not a financial arsehole. I count myself incredibly lucky as many parents see nothing.

Longestfewdaysupcoming · 02/07/2021 12:24

That leaves the RP at the mercy of the NRP. It used to be - and was changed because it screwed over RP.
Gingerninja4 · 02/07/2021 12:24

0 for 2 children

Used to get £5 a week .But he then remarried had 2 more children
Abs when it went from csa to cm became 0 they also never chased for arrears then cancelled them

He gradually started seeing them less went from monthly to 6 weeks then every 3 months then twice a year now not at all

Steelesauce · 02/07/2021 12:24

£29.11 per month for 3 kids and its taken 18 months for him to pay (they take it out his benefits) so he's in arrears lol

Sailingthroughtheweek · 02/07/2021 12:24

ChampagneWorries that’s very interesting, she hasn’t mentioned how it was agreed. She kept the house and all the equity too. She’s very happy with the arrangement Grin

Viviennemary that doesn’t sound fair at all. The system isn’t really fit for purpose.

I really feel for all of you that are getting nothing. That feel very unfair for your DC.

We have agreed that when she’s older, he’ll put the money into her account rather than mine.

OP posts:
Steelesauce · 02/07/2021 12:25

Oh and hes not allowed to see them at all

AnneLovesGilbert · 02/07/2021 12:25

Why is it unbelievable? It’s dependent on the NRP’s income. Some people earn a lot, some don’t. If the parents were still together their household income would depend on what each parent earns.

Some parents split contact 50/50 so no maintenance is due either way.

DH pays £800 for 2 DC. He didn’t reduce it when we had DD and we have to have a house big enough for them in the same way their mother does.

cantbeforeal · 02/07/2021 12:25

£20 a month 🤡 🤡

ChampagneWorries · 02/07/2021 12:27

Why put the money in the account when shes older?

Its for her living expenses. If hes putting it into an account for her then hes not helping with the financial burden of bringing up a child.

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/07/2021 12:28

My 2 are 23 and 21 and not seen their dad for 6yrs.
