I’ve become so disillusioned with his government, it’s corrupt and awful nasty politicians such as Priti Patel and cannot stomach to even see Boris Johnson on the television or the sound of his empty waffling forever gaslighting.

I’m seriously feeling depressed at what we have as a gov’t.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a sensible morally correct leadership of intelligent people you could actually trust to lead a nation.

Feeling really down about it.

I like you am ashamed of this government. I view Mr Johnson as the worst Prime Minister in history.

I am so ashamed of the way the country has gone, especially with Brexit, that when I am abroad on holiday I do my utmost to avoid being identified as British. No clothes with anything on that says 'British', if I go to a museum or attraction and need headphones/commentary I ask for French (can understand enough), and will avoid any 'English' bars.

Where would you go that has “a sensible morally correct leadership of intelligent people you could actually trust to lead a nation” ? I’ve lived in a few places and the UK is by far the freest most just society I’ve experienced. People die trying to get here.

Just don’t watch the news or read the papers you will be fine .

Trust me there are a lot of other countries who hate their governments as well .

But if not then of course find somewhere else that suits you better .

nosswith - Oh for God's sake, stop being so daft. If you're honestly going to those extremes then just move to another country and be done with it.

Remember when Johnson claimed he was going to unite us all? Instead all he's done is enabled a load of racists.

You're not unreasonable at all, sadly our rights to live and work elsewhere are being diminished as we speak.

I hate it. I'm sick of it. I am disgusted by our government.

If I didn't have to stay nearby for DS to see his dad at the weekend, I'd be off.

Not the point of the thread but Who the hell where’s clothes with “British” on? Unless you’re in the type of resort where British male tourists go around in england football strips and the women in ill fitting white linens and spaghetti strap sunburn?

Yes, it's a bit of a slap in the face when people say 'Go and live somewhere else', since by the time lockdown is over, Covid rates have gone down, etc, I will have lost Freedom of Movement.

I’m perplexed at threads like this, which country does have a government that everybody loves and agrees with? If this was the case we wouldn’t need a vote?

You hate your country enough to request head sets in French??? This made me laugh!

I'm sick of people being so rude about our government. Is it perfect? No way. North Korea? Russia? Most Arab and northern African countries? Rather have their governments?

NZ seems to have quite a good leadership at the moment - although I recall plenty on here describing the place as 'backward' recently. But you can't get citizenship or even go there at the moment so a bit of a non-starter. Also a lot of poverty, shocking road death statistics and many natural hazards.

plenty of considerably worse places, of course. Scandinavia seems quite good but I don't think many Brits would like the high taxes, and I wouldn't fancy the climate or latitude.

however you did nothing to affect your country of origin, so it is a matter neither for shame nor pride.

I know how you feel. I'm disgusted by the corruption, entitlement and cronyism (and sheer incompetence!) of our government and even more horrified by the fact that I must live alongside people who simply care very little for their fellow man if they voted for them. Plus if they thought isolating us from the worlds biggest trading block and alienating our closest allies was a good plan then they can't be all that bright.

I think that's what depresses me most.

I came to this country in the mid 90s when I was in my early 20s....married here, divorced here, found my true love and had a child here. I came from a what is considered a country that has lovely weather, good (ish) government, and a great outdoors lifestyle. But underneath it holds a nasty side of even more racism, inequality and gang culture than UK. It may shock you that this place is New Zealand. The grass often looks greener, yes we have an inept government at the moment and for sure there are other things like Brexit etc that seem shit but the UK IME is still (despite what the media likes to portray) a very tolerant and diverse country

Jesus that's a low bar!

It's like saying 'so your husband's financially abusive, does fuck all around the house and treats your kids like shit? Well you should be glad he doesn't beat you!'

I'm with you, OP. It is so depressing trying to raise kids and teach them to be kind and honest, that if they work hard they will be rewarded, that it is important to own up when you make a mistake, and do the right thing even when it is hard, when we are being governed by a bunch of incompetent and corrupt bullies.

I'm not holding out for morally correct leadership, If just like to feel that some halfway competent adults were in charge, who gave the slightest shit about the country rather than themselves and their mates.

When I was younger I travelled a lot, and spent time in countries with pretty corrupt governments. Talking to people there about politics etc I always wondered how it felt to be an intelligent informed person (as these people were) living in the knowledge that you had such a shitshow of a government. Now I guess I know.

Unfortunately I have caring responsibilities to my parents that mean I can't go anywhere. Otherwise this is not where I want to raise my children.

UK has probably one of the fairest leadership systems in the world. We don't realise how lucky we are to live as we do (excluding the shitty lock downs Grin)
