Mystery knickers

A pair of black knickers appeared (clean) in a pile of clothing I had ready to wash in the living room. They are not mine. Confused

I asked DP and he genuinely seems clueless. We work together + we spend 95% of our time together. I do work 2 evenings a week, but during this time DP is looking after our toddler & I'm back within 2 hours of DS going to bed.

We haven't had any female guests staying. DPs male friend stayed with us 4 weeks ago and it did cross my mind, but they'd be far too small (size 6) for him anyway.

Anyone want to help me play detective?Grin

Had male friend got a skinny gf? Maybe they were caught up in his overnight things?
Or maybe he brought them as a reminder of home??

Laundrette or washed at home?
If your DH is trustworthy, I'm guessing his friend left them.... why is anyone's guess.

Do you have a cat?

My first thought was cat too!

Do you have a cat, OP? That was also my thought.

I had this recently, however I have lots of clothes still from years and years ago (most of which I definitely wouldn't fit in to now, so not sure why I have kept them, just had no time to go through them). We did used to house share together, so just assumed it was from sharing a washing machine or dryer and clothes getting mixed up.

Have you stayed anywhere recently? It could be they were left under a bed/behind something by a previous guest when you were on holiday and you picked them up thinking they were yours.

You will of course have loads of people saying your DP is having an affair and to LTB though! Without any other evidence of yo-yo boxers I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Size 6? Wow, that's tiny!

No, the friend isn't in a relationship. He lives abroad. And why would it take so long for them to suddenly appear? So odd.

We do not have a cat.

Sure they are size 6 not age 6?

I haven't been away since August bank holiday, that was with DP & DS. We didn't share a room with anyone.

Can't think it'd be the cat. Mine only wears thongs or boxers.

Does your toddler go to nursery and are the they age 6 not size 6? Could have had an accident at nursery and staff have put spare knickers on?

@Sparklingbrook

Yes, for sure. They're definitely adult. DP said he thought they were mine (I'm an 8).

Where are they from? Could help work out if friend brought them if they have a foreign label?

Clawdy · 21/10/2019 09:35

Could they have blown off someone's washing line and into your garden, and your toddler picked them up and popped them in the washing pile? Yes, I know it's a long shot!

Could a nursery staff member have picked them out of a child’s bag, thought oops parents have put the wrong ones in, and put them back in your child’s bag by mistake??

Cleaner left them to cause trouble? This happened to someone I knew. Cleaner fancied the husband, but sadly for her didn’t realise he was away on business and so only people with access to washing basket those days were her and the wife. No cat! She was fired obvs.

The one time this happened to us, we puzzled out that they had been behind a radiator and been hooked up with our own laundry drying on the radiator. It was only a few months after we moved in so they must have belonged to the previous resident.

I'm not saying you shared a room with someone, but left over from previous guest and the room wasn't cleaned properly. I've dropped stuff down the back of furniture on places I've stayed before and found stuff. Quite easy to think they are yours if you are in a rush.

There could just be a bitter person ha going up random knickers on lines to stir trouble Grin

There are his mates.
It is the most simple explanation.

DH's mate fancies him and left knickers to cause trouble in your marriage.

I also thought cat.

One of ours is a kleptomaniac, and I have occasionally to go round the street asking people if this is their scarf/ glove/ hanky/ hat.
