So I ordered a purse online from a well known brand.
I paid £12 so cheap and cheerful.
The parcel arrived today and it was well packaged in a nice box and wrapped etc.
I opened it and it was a different purse (loved it ) and I checked online and it is selling on the site for £100 Shock
Moral dilemma ...keep or return ?
Would you tell them ?

Legally speaking you are a thief if you keep it.

Someone else might get your cheaper purse, but they don't believe them.

I've never had any luck when I've kept things that I shouldn't, so I'm always honest.

Honestly, I’d tell them. It’s really not on morally. They might even tell you to keep it, in which case you can do it, guilt-free.

I would tell them.

I couldn't keep it, I would feel too guilty. Tell them, they might let you keep it.

I’ve had companies send me two things in error and when I contact them to tell them they just tell me to keep it. Is it a small company or big shop?

I'd keep quiet too.

I would tell them but I am fairly certain they will tell you to keep it.

Some muppet sent us four Apple Mac mini 's by mistake once. They were obviously shipped to the warehouse four pieces to a box and they sent us the whole box! We phoned them and they asked us to make the 50 mile round trip to return them. We not so politely told them that they could come collect their own £2500 mistake.

They will probably tell you to keep it and will send another to whoever actually bought it.

I’d keep it for a month and wait and see if anyone chased it up. I’d then plead ignorance. I’d also feel horribly guilty.

Would you tell them ?

Yes of course. They might tell you to keep it as it’s their error. But I couldn’t in all honesty keep something I hadn’t paid the correct amount for.

Keeping it is theft. Does not matter how big the retailer is. Someone might lose their job over this loss, just before Christmas. Do you want that on your conscience?

Tbf, if someone loses their job over it, that’s their own shout

As for the purse. I would feel to guilty and would hear "thief" every time I took it out!! But that's me. I'd have to tell them. I would make them pay for any return shipping or organise a courier for collection if it has to be returned.
