To think Boden have made a huge mistake.

They've just put out a new mum video, showing lots of successful instagrammers and their children head to toe in Boden.

However, these IG people and children are rarely dressed in Boden, if ever.

But just because they've got a lot of followers Boden hand it all out to people who don't actually treasure the brand.

There are 100s of dedicated Boden mums who treasure every piece of Boden, why can't Boden ever reward their loyal customers rather than give it out to people who don't even buy it.

I know a lot of people are outraged about this. When I look at IG I search the #bodenbyme and always see lots of normal families without 300k followers dressing their littlies in Boden. It's a shame that brand lovers never are appreciated when they are what keep the business going, if I was Johnnie I'd be getting hold of these families and working together to promote real Boden loving Mums and not just people who are in it for the cash or freebies.

Er what?

May I respectfully suggest you get a life outside obsessing over who dresses their children in what brand of clothing?

Mrsknackered Mon 02-Oct-17 20:30:55

I do see these mum's wearing Boden, so I respectfully disagree.

However, I think that the quality of the clothes (and actually the designs) of Boden are no where near as good as they used to be.

YANBU, burn down Boden HQ and let's put out a hit squad on the Instamummies. They've only themselves to blame, it's a bridge too far

Smeaton Mon 02-Oct-17 20:32:01

So instead of them sending stuff to someone who'll show it too hundreds, maybe thousands of followers, you want them to send their stuff to someone who'll wear it at the school gates or to Tesco?

That's not how advertising works.

SaucyJack Mon 02-Oct-17 20:33:08

Sweetheart, there's a reason why no one wants to follow insta blogs of people who wear mass market catalogue clothing.

Fairylea Mon 02-Oct-17 20:33:46

I actually really like the posts from motherpukka and mother of daughters about it blush I’m easily pleased! It’s just an advert isn’t it, like any other advert. They’re not pretending it isn’t an ad. No one moans about Gary L munching down in a good old walkers advert but I bet he doesn’t only eat it walkers crisps in real life!

welliesandpuddles Mon 02-Oct-17 20:35:35

I'm not a Mum yet but I wear smart Boden and will dress my children in Boden.

monkeywithacowface Mon 02-Oct-17 20:36:14

Treasure the brand? Who the heck treasures a brand? Who follows insta mummies?

Anyway who cares Johnie is a tosser

welliesandpuddles Mon 02-Oct-17 20:37:36

I wouldn't say Johnnie is a tosser and I accept advertising is advertising but why not ever give something back to the loyal customers?

But that’s not how it works is it? They’re using people who are famous on the platform they’re using. That’s why it’s got attention. That’s why we are even talking about it now.

OP "I know a lot of people are outraged about this"

backs away slowly

It's marketing innit

People don't want to see average people. They want to see aspirational shit. So pretty families looking all picturesque is Boden's things rather than a middle aged mum called Pam with stroppy children

Ifitquackslikeaduck Mon 02-Oct-17 20:39:39

I was expecting a link to something hideous like the m&s dress. Disappointing sad

You already buy the stuff - by giving it to people who don't normally they might convince a few more people to buy it.

Also 'treasure every piece' - really?? It's just clothes.

randomuntrainedcuntowner Mon 02-Oct-17 20:40:09

Dear lord

OlennasWimple Mon 02-Oct-17 20:40:45

Johnnie isn't a tosser but he is very needy with his emails. "We haven't seen you for a while...." "We noticed you started to buy something but didn't complete the purchase...." "Is it something we did....?"

beesandknees Mon 02-Oct-17 20:40:54

why not ever give something back to the loyal customers?

Do you understand that it's a business?

Like... you pay them money, and then they give you... clothes. That's what they "give back". That's the deal. confused

iamUberA Mon 02-Oct-17 20:41:21

The advert is fine and it's an advert at the end of the day.

NatMatCat Mon 02-Oct-17 20:41:37

I got a catalogue today with the theme 'Dress like a mum'. Apparently they've been dressing the nation's Mums for 20 years. Had a load of mummy bloggers in the back. They had to find someone else as well who has a proper job because otherwise they'd be an exclusively white bunch...

InspMorse Mon 02-Oct-17 20:41:50

hmm I think it's called advertising!
Do you really think that the lovely David Beckham shops at H&M for example?

ReallyHadEnoughOfThisNow Mon 02-Oct-17 20:42:12

"why not ever give something back to the loyal customers?"

What like the nigh on constant discount codes and occasional £10 or £15 vouchers that are sent out. Free postage, 365 day returns... Yes, the money grabbing bastards never do anything for their customers...

EssentialHummus Mon 02-Oct-17 20:42:25

confused You're already a loyal customer. Johnnie doesn't need to shower you with free shite.
