AIBU?

Why is MN so transphobic?

I really don't understand it but it makes me sad. Trans people just want to get on with their lives and are at more risk of being harmed or murdered than anyone else.

What's with all this talk of men trying to get into the ladies toilets or changing rooms just to catch a glimpse of fanny? I mean WTF. Do you honestly believe a man is going to stick on a dress and a wig and pretend to be transgender just to assault or rape a woman?

Imagine if it was you who was born in the wrong body. Now imagine how horrible that must be knowing your body is wrong and you try your best to deal with it and all you get in return is fear, suspicion and hatred.

Some of the posts on here are heartbreaking.

I don't think mumsnet is transphobic and hq are pretty good at deleting comments which break talk guide lines.

This has been done to death. Do some searches and you will find some recent threads.

Stick your title into search. I swear we had exactly the same title last week.

That should say anti woman ideology.

you liar. you havent read any such posts on mumsnet or you'd have just put this post on those threads instead of starting the one billionth this month on the subject.

MN always delete transphobic comments.

I agree OP but have to say I don't comment on them anymore because it feels like a pointless battle.

I mean what's with all the fear?

There was a thread a while ago where the OP was terrified about a possible new gender identity law and others on the thread shared their fear. Why? Why is other people gaining rights so scary to you? It doesn't impact you.

It's not about that though it's about womens spaces being eroded or so I've read. I say that as someone pretty ignorant to the whole issue.

I mean, I suppose it's because a lot of the posters in the feminist boards have a fundamentally Marxist view whereby women are a 'potentially revolutionary class'. mobile.nytimes.com/1972/07/30/archives/the-womens-movement-women.html

Once you start then then it sort of follows that transwomen threaten the revolution by muddying up the class of 'women'.

There are SO many threads on this subject and every single one just goes round and round and round. Just search MN and read through. I don't think you can just class MN as an entirety as transphobic. At all.

Given therd are many threads on this and given you are user12345678 i strongly suspect you are being goady.Hmm
If you see transphobic posts report them. If they really are against talk guidelines they will be deleted.

I've never seen anyone use fanny on here
And I would notice as it's my favourite word
But thanks for starting this thread, it's been such a long time since the last one Hmm
